I've noticed Japanese music has a very strong holisticness to it... It's rare that one thing gets to be so up and in the center for the whole song like in western music. Western music tends to be built around lead riffs that take up your full attention.

I’m not sure I believe some of what’s said in this video. I don’t know anyone who cares abut fashionable tech. Also if a battery was easily replaceable, few people would opt for a new gadget vs a new battery. Apple makes you wait several days without a smartphone and doesn’t like to release parts to third party repair, that’s what’s putting people off. They also stop supporting devices right when they need a new battery, case in point being my 1st gen iPad Pro.

The repair options in the big tech companies is to be seen as "eco-buddies". They prefer you to buy new one products and discard the even functioning last season old one.

You don't need to make every component repairable, atleast focus on the parts that are well known to degrade or break the most often. Example for phones it would be the screen glass and the battery. If you made those two components more repairable you would solve a good 80% of repairability issues in smart phones.

The biggest problem with these Western designs and innovations, is that they are based on "Elite Projection", centred on the belief that they know better than the locals, a pathological assumption that the Elites are smart and enlightened. This is also grounded in the "Nirvana Fallacy", the belief the best solutions are ones that are imagined over real and practical ones; thus, they fail take into account when their idealised inventions do more harm than good. One particularly pernicious example Western intentions that went very wrong, was the construction of tube wells in Bangladeshi during the 1970s, Bangladeshi was suffering from a lack of water crisis, instead of building water purification plants, Western NGOs and entrepreneurs built millions of tube wells. What the Elites failed to understand, was that Bangladesh sits on top of one of the largest deposits of arsenic in the world, it's a naturally occurring geological feature, but the Westerners failed to conduct a geological survey to determine if the ground water was safe for consumption, the result - the largest accidental poisoning of arsenic in history. By the 1990s, millions of Bangladeshi people were sick from arsenic poisoning, the negative effects of this fiasco continues to this day, it should have served as a warning, when people with no grassroots try to fix other people's issues with grassroots, after all, if these same Elites screw up charity and altruism domestically, you cannot count on them to fix issues in the developing world they do not understand, or live in, if they are out of touch domestically, expect them to be even more out of touch internationally.

You know the main painpoint with the developing countries? You need to develop them at the first place, the technology is an added bonus. At the moment, there are so many human beings utilizing PRELOGIC thinking, and you want them to draw logical conclusions! Where everything is being described as magic, you give another magical item, and tell it should be obvious to use. And the current prelogic mindset is very appreciated my the dictators, where you just put all your blame on somebody's woodoo magic, pondering your "hard work and care for people". Developing countries don't need to be rescued. They need only the possibility to help themselves, build markets, in struggle to thrive and prosper. But like that's ever gonna happen.

Another interesting thing about Thailand's spoon is that it also double as a knife. Like, compare to spoon from other country, I found that Thai's spoon is way more 'lean' than others and could be used to cut meat by applying pressure directly with no need to 'saw' the meat like a knife. Actually I remember my grandparent said that using a knife to eat steak is 'rude/uncivilize' because of the sawing movement (moving your whole arm, since your elbow could hit other people).

Here is an example of elitism that's often overlooked: With the ai discussion, many creative's encouraged the ai of ai taking the "hard labour" aka blue color jobs and leave the creative jobs alone. Like humans only care about "creative" jobs and no one finds blue color jobs satisfying.

This is actually the reason diversity is so important in product based companies especially. If you're selling products to people, the people designing them should reflect the demographic of the customers. Americans need not comment about whichever side they feel is pushing the diversity 'agenda'

The French repairability index is a joke. Just take that note, but over 1000. Add 400 if a service manual is available, 500 for full schematics, and now it looks more serious. That's one things that's missing on your list: information blackout. Right, could be seen as a consequence of copyright abuse… Back 100 years ago, vacuum tube radios usually had the full schematics printed side the case. How did we loose that? How is it manufacturers aren't held responsible for failed repair attempts because they didn't document their hardware? If I break a screen because I swapped a short screw for a long one, is it my fault, or that of the vendor not publishing the service manual with the list and sizes of screws? Not having proper documentation is also what makes repair by professionals more expensive than buying new: People have to figure out hidden screws or clips, reverse engineer the board to find the fault, because it is not properly documented as should be. And again, documenting hardware you sell is the norm, has been for 100+ years. We just forgot about that these last decades.

I appreciate the nuanced explanation on this topic. There are a lot of real challenges I didn't know about, and it's definitely more complex than I thought. ...But I don't think it's fair to blame consumers for "wanting" it to be this way, when you yourself go on to say that companies have spent a long time and a lot of money instilling that want in us. If advertisements started to say sturdy and repairable = luxury and quality, people would quickly start to believe that instead. (And maybe you're not trying to blame people so much as point out that this is a part of the problem. The framing just ruffled my feathers bit.) I also appreciate the mention of framework laptops. I've always bought tower PCs because I know I can upgrade and fix them. A whole new door has just opened for me if there are laptops out there that work the same way now.

The era which was the second most miserable in human history and led to the one most miserable - to the communist revolution and tyranny. It's your choice if you want to be part of that shit.
