Sailing up UNCHARTED Rivers in BRAZIL - OutsideWatch Vlog #29 (Plus real time update)
We're back! Stick around to the end for a real time update (yes we are still sailing).
In this video our friend Amy joins us for a week of cruising up uncharted rivers in Bahia, Brazil, we discover the most amazing waterfalls and get lost in nature. And what good is your own private waterfall without a little champagne?!
There is still so much footage from our sail up the Brazilian coast to the Caribbean and I can't wait to edit and share! Its coming very very soon...
Thanks for watching!

Boarded by wild MACAWS a SECOND TIME!? We love sailing in BRAZIL!🇧🇷 - Outside Watch Vlog #28
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.Год назад
I couldn't believe it when we were boarded by wild macaws in the Brazilian jungle....but a second time!?!? Almost immediately after dropping the anchor at Ilha De Bom Jesus, our friends flew back on board Skylark. The birds seemed to be enjoying themselves biting and tasting everything on the boat, they actually bit a small whole in our mainsail UV strip! Definitely an experience we will never ...

We finished crossing the Atlantic Ocean!! After hanging out in in Salvador for a few days we finally got to go island hopping again! A stop in the island of Ilha De Bom Jesus will be one we will never forget. While cooking breakfast we heard a loud "Squaaaawwwk" to find two wild and curious Macaws wanted to come say hello. Cruising is an amazing lifestyle and we're constantly rewarded with incr...
We Crossed the ATLANTIC OCEAN!!! Hello Brazil! - Outside Watch Vlog #26

We had spent the last several months in the remote islands of the south Atlantic. Our final passage across the Atlantic would take us from Ascension Island to Salvador, Brazil, the berth place of Carnival. The sail was our second longest to date at 1,450 nautical miles taking around 10 days. Conditions were everything from perfect to miserable and squally. Jen does an amazing job in the galley ...

This time we set off on a 700nm sail from St Helena to Ascension island! There are very few places to stop in the south Atlantic other than these two unique volcanic islands. After 3 weeks enjoying beautiful St Helena, we decided we HAD to check out Ascension as well even though it was slightly out of our way. The 6 day passage was that of dreams! We had absolutely perfect downwind conditions t...

Sailing to one of the most REMOTE island settlements in the world!! - Outside Watch Vlog #23

Saint Helena is one of the most remote island settlements in the world and has a population of just 4000 people. The small volcanic island lies about 1000 nautical miles off the west coast of Africa in the middle of the south Atlantic Ocean. In this video, we set off from Walvis Bay, Namibia and sail 1200 nautical miles in 9 days to this remote jewel of the Atlantic! Also, our 12 year old genna...

Mercury Island is one of the largest breeding grounds for seabirds in all of Namibia and is said to be home to approximately 16,000 African Penguins. After a month in the desert and being anchored next to "Bird Island" its no surprise that Skylark was covered in....sand and bird S !!! After Mercury I...

NAMIBIA!!! WOW.... We found one of the most incredible and remote anchorages we have ever been to! Skylark was surrounded almost 360 degrees by HUGE sand dunes. This stretch of African is harsh and very inhospitable, in places like this, it shows. It was so amazing to be able to experience a remote outpost like this with the comforts of our floating home. It is often referred to as the 'Skeleto...

Great video. We are in Salvador, Brazil, sailed from Mindelo, Cape Verde, being a good stop. You are going to regret not crossing the equator, respectfully suggesting an early January departure from Mindelo, making it to Salvador in time for Carnival in February, perhaps founding an event called: ARC+Brazil. Is it safe, anchoring in Natal for a couple of weeks?

The Amel 54 is a truly great boat. About the only one I'd sell my boat to change to. Yours is really well outfitted. Those water tight doors. Of course you will never need them.... but.... the most dangerous incidents I've heard of (after fire, losing the mast, anchor dragging) is being pooped from behind. Those are likely the boats that disappear without a trace. Just keeping those doors closed when there's a following sea or mixed conditions could save everything. Of course the raised center cockpit makes this even less likely. And the water intake manifold instead of thru hulls is brilliant. (My boat has 12)
