PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION - GOOD INFO HERE
Hi legends.
Very different video today.
I want to be completely raw with you because the reason I made this channel was to help people.
I have been going through a lot mentally and people only see a person who is making money through software engineering and is "successful". But in reality this is just a facade, like a lot of social media. I made this video so you DON'T make the same mistakes I do.
I really know this video is clustered and my thoughts are not organised, but please try very hard to make sense of my nonsense. The MAIN point of the video: if you're privileged and money isn't necessary for your survival, please try hard to DO the things th...

You‘ve contributed lots to the world with sharing this video. You’re clearly smart and ambitious and I also think your potential is better spent in something other than mindless money-making. Looking back on your life, you’ll be grateful for having that realisation at 24.
Thank you so much, this is a really nice comment that boosted my ego lol. Nice profile picture haha
Go work for math academy, best learning tool from ex quants
What is math academy?
Step 1: Have an insane connection in the space.
Lol
How does someone reach out to you?
Haha thank you for making me realise I am terrible at posting my socials. I just updated the description to have my socials and also my channel profile: www.youtube.com/@tallulabellm1
Thanks for sharing man. Just take a break and do whatever you like for a while and enjoy yourself.
For sure, it was my pleasure to share. Thank you for the input <3
Inspiring! Love the way you talked about money going through same situation right now. At present i'm most interested in machine learning and building things out for "myself" get deeper into it but seeing your peers and people getting a big chunk of package just distract our passion for which I have even started. there are lot of problems which are needed to be solved in our society and if we just help the society/ community to get to be efficient in helping others and grow together that's the motto.. would love to connect to you someday! goodluck 🍁 love the way you speak it out
I really respect your decision to learn about machine learning, that's seriously awesome. Keep at it :) I believe. And thank you for the kind words. Please feel free to connect on any of my socials, I am very down to talk!
Man spoke absolute facts. I too want to make a good chage in the world but am not from a very strong financial background, so wanna get into hft (i know there is a lot of burnout, but hey, thats life), earn some money and get a decent house for my parents and save some money. After i am done with that, i will start focusing on teaching people mathematics through youtube. Now that you've made your money, its time to Follow your passion bro! You've always been an inspiration to me!
Man that actually means so much to me. I really appreciate this comment. You’re truly awesome and I’m very happy you want to teach people mathematics, I believe in you and can’t wait to see your videos!
@@tallulabellm1damn, you really replied!?!?!? Am not able to fathom this! Can I please please get your Instagram id please? Wanna connect with you as a friend, if that's ok with you. Really admire you as a big bro.
You know you have this privilege, but to me, it seems like you dont understand how much impact that money could have if you share it. Im not telling you what to do or to give it all away, but you being able to make that much money allows you to hire tens of people to work on a porject of your own. You could probably make your own educational system rather than integrating in others. You could build wells, schools, and even bring energy to impoverished communities. You just need to decide what you want. I wish you the best in your adventures ❤
That is honestly really true that money can be used to do really good things. If I do get a lot of money I definitely will help people.
Hey man, really good video. I'm in my 2nd year of university and I have been coding for around 4-5 years. How do I figure out what I actually would like to work as in SWE? And if I figure that out should I shift my entire focus on specializing in that? Or should I spend university focusing on my fundamentals then casting a wide net of applications?
I think spend your uni learning fundamentals, I really believe that. I also believe that you should network as much as possible because people will inspire you to see what you’re interested in.
And thanks ❤️ you’re very kind.
@@tallulabellm1 thanks for your response man, I wish I could find people who are tryhards when it comes to their career at college 😭
@@Nazgenyanly You could also try and interact with the professors - I am sure they have a lot of wisdom to share. I learnt a lot from some professors.
You got a big heart man.
Thanks I hope so hahah! <3
I liked this video however would be good to share details about your salary proof etc. Because the other guy you mentioned does that
Thanks for your comment <3 I'll check how he does it.
❤️
Thank you Hannah :P
Bro, give yourself a pat on the back for having the courage to show your vulnerabilities and help others. You've been so good at reflecting on yourself and improving. I'm super happy to see that you have a better understanding of what's in your heart
Hahah my brother, it's such a pleasure to know you. You're an amazing person.
I think its a burnout man i would suggest that take some time off from social media and travel around the world, spend time with your family and friends. At the end of the day our goal is to be free and do whatever we want that's why we strive to earn more money, so that we can retire early and enjoy the rest of the life and if you're in a very comfortable situation(money wise) then why not go for it do the things which you really want and enjoy your life. That being said i wish you luck and good health.
Thank you for your suggestion. Family and friends are definitely the key I agree. I really appreciate your kind words.
Wow man. Thanks for the video. As someone who's currently on the wagon trying to 'make it' this was pretty refreshing.
Curious if you have any other socials or a blog ?
@@ryashau3527 Thank you so much man this is a very kind message. I have Twitter and Instagram, they're on my channel page. No blog though.
Hey guys. As I said this was a really hard video to make, I can hardly watch it 🤣 Please check out the description for more organised thoughts.
Where were you man i missed your videos. I am learning solidity for getting into auditing as it pays the most in web3, am i right with this one?
Aww man thanks so much for your kind messages. I ran into some personal issues tbh. Solidity is a great choice! You can find great paying jobs regardless of the blockchain tbh.
From now on, for C++'s sake PLEASE REMAIN CONSISTENT IN UPLOADING VIDEOS, they are very very valuable man. ~ardent follower!
Cool. I recently had the similar experience. 1 screening stage, 5 virtual on-site rounds, 1 hiring manager stage, 1 final hr round. I passed.
Let's goooo! That's so awesome. Thanks for watching buddy.
Reason 1: Learn new ways of programming; smart contracts Reason 2: Work on new unsolved problems Reason 3: Get to work on software security Reason 4: You get to take base salary + crypto token Reason 5: fast paced environment
Thank you!!
Reason 4 is more high risk/high reward salary package

Hahah I just realised - this is commenting on my Voss water bottle right?
Besides C++, what other languages should I master for a crypto software role.
@@d4rkness829 Hey! Thanks for the comment. I’d suggest learning Rust and TypeScript/Node too. A tonne of crypto companies use this stack.
i swear i was so confused how to start my journey , i wasted a lot of time juts searching what to study from where to study to enter in HFTs , this video gave me my learning path , thank you so so so much for all the resources . Keep making such videos really appreciate your efforts for us🙏
@@nehaa_0105 that means so so much! I really appreciate it and best of luck!
I'm a non cs student Like pursuing instrumentation engineering and technology How can I get into this quant finance and trading firms
this video blinded me
Why hahaha?
@@tallulabellm1 its HDR, if your browser supports it some videos show in HDR, must have been a setting when uploaded? It completely disregards viewers machines brightness and it looks SO bright. Managed to turn it off in chrome settings though.
How to use jane street computer (qualification) for trading. Powerful computer, super computer or Normal computer. Please reply🙏❤❤
thank you for the insightful content! Would be truly great if you can share a bit more on the application/interview process
Of course! Thank you so much for the kind words.
Thanks a lot, life saver! Understand you recently did a video on HFT resources and a couple of others but was wondering if you could do a video on self-study path to becoming a SWE sometimes. Not sure what is relevant and what is not these days. Just doing what i see (HTML,CSS, JS, backend- not sure of this etc.,) Thanks a lot!
Hey man! Thanks for always supporting me :) Will take a look into it.
@@tallulabellm1 Thanks a lot, life saver!!
This happens sometimes, I always ask the recruiter what should I expect from the interview so I’m not caught off guard, and if I am then that’s just poor communication on their part.
You know how I know you’re smart , you’ve got a great sense of humor
Hahahah that's very kind of you :P
Hello legends, I know a bunch of you really wanted to see my friend get interviewed... I wanna apologise, I shouldn't have teased it without asking him first. I tried really hard to get him on-board but he said that he won't be able to due to HR reasons :(
hey what about math ? how much it is needed ?
This is a great question. Will think about it more and get back to you. If there's enough content I may make a video of it.
Intro was wild 😂
Haha gotta catch your attention somehow :D
Finally I got you ...I lost you months ago ..now i have subscribed so not to lose you again.
So glad you found me! Thanks so much for the sub!
Bro I want you to get married...(buzzzz) i can help you with it!
Very concise, insightful, and clear explanation. Thanks again ! However, I'd be interested in your recommendation: Rust or C++? Additionally, do you know of anyone who has landed a trading firm job using Rust?
Thanks for sharing the info! I was wondering whether it helps to work at a fintech start-up before taking a stab at SWE at these high-volume finance shops? It seems like some of the support software are similar but the main difference is the high QPS of hedge funds experience that I don't have at this role. I wonder if it's better to get a job that mimics this high volume at some pub-sub companies like notifications, etc that rly maximizes speed Also Can I connect with you on linked in loll
Alright I am your 800th sub. 😋
Let's goooo thanks legend!
citadel love to pull this at the end
I wish I meet you before I did the interview lol.
Hey there! Love your videos so much, they've been really helpful for my citsec internship preparation (currently in 5th technical round smh my head). I'd love to connect, you have socials?
Wow! That's awesome! How's the CitSec interviewing going? Yes I'd love to connect, feel free to message me on Instagram? Thanks for the kind words.
Do you think without any cs degree anyone who crammed these courses can apply ?
Yes! We are so blessed in our field that your expertise means more than a college degree.
Yes please make an interview with your friend
No video😢😢
Yoo im really enjoying these videos on the hft industry, but theres another thing that i dont see talked about enough online: What sort of projects can catch the eye of HFT firms? I’ve been struggling to get interviews from them but my mates from the same uni have xD
That's a really good question. I can make a video with project ideas actually.
What a hiring manager .. Probably just an Senior IC
Haha maybe...
Valuable information! 🙌
I am really glad!
this is amazing content
wow very inspiring
I am glad.
I cant believe how disciplined you are. Every week just like this right? 👌👌 just wow
Have you seen Jordan has no life's RUclips channel for systems design. If yes, what did you think?
I have not actually, if I check them out I'll let you know.
I'm doing my grad SWE interview rn, just finished the first technical round yesterday and I got the exact same question! Lowest common ancestors in BST. Except I've never seen it before and had no idea how to solve it haha. I hope next interviews give me the same questions as well
Hahah that is so funny! I hope you ended up getting accepted :)
