I'm enjoying your review here. A couple things to note 1. There's a theory that Foxface the redhead girl committed suicide knowing full well the berries were poisonous as she knew a lot about plants and survival skills so a lot of people find it hard to believe she didn't know what she was doing 2. In the books the mutts were so much worse, they had the eyes and hair color of the dead tributes. They even had collars around their necks saying what district they were meant to be from.

When I first watched this one, I could not sleep for almost a week. This movie was the talk with everyone.

I always felt really endeared to Cinna. Trusted him from the get-go. I don’t think he had any ill intent. Some people in the comments do have a point I suppose that there’s a power dynamic there because of their classes and positions. But I always took his gestures as being empathetic and supportive. And I also never saw a romantic vibe between them even though he’s intimate with her, it felt fatherly/close friend-y as some others have said. He felt like the only real person in the capital who actually cared about her.

So in the book the dogs at the end of the arena have the eyes of the Dead tributes and katniss realizes this because one of them has eyes exactly like Rue.

The thing with Haymitch is that his game was the 50th’s game so they did something different. Instead of 2 per district they did 4. His arena was like deadly paradise, so like everything was insanely beautiful, very utopia-like but that beauty lured you in and killed you. He survived because he was literally fighting to death (his intestines were out and everything) with another person and he had found a loophole that if you threw something down a cliff it would bounce back. He did exactly that with an axe and won the game but the capitol saw that as “cheating” the system so they killed his entire family and his girlfriend. So yeah you get why he’s drunk all the time. Also seeing 12-18year olds you mentor die every year must be exahusting.

The 3 finger salute is a sign of respect or “parting of a loved one” used in the lower districts (10-11-12th) and it’s seen a a sign of rebellion. If you’re book fans I highly recommend reading the books, such an important metaphor for the world atm. Specially how even in the movies they use hunger as a weapon

I’ve watched this hella times years ago and this movie still terrifies me and I sometimes still get nightmares from it this is my first time watching it again only because you guys are reacting to it other than that I wouldn’t dare but I have to watch it in the morning and have to watch cartoons for the rest of the day and night afterwards 😂😂😂😂😂
