    Not sure if I'm alone here, but I haven't heard of this game ever up until it's shut down [I found out yesterday], and I was like "Oh shoot I gotta install it there are only 5 (now 4) days to do so!" And I really enjoyed the start of the game, so I understand why people are so sad about it.

      Right on! And it's extra disappointing to see it go given that there is no good equivalent as far as I can tell. I mean there are lots of city building games, but they all have quite a different focus and lack a lot of what makes this game feel unique. Maybe some game can fill that hole but I haven't found anything yet.

    Anything made in last 6-7 years doesnt really need a remaster.. horizon is a good remaster if you ask me. As far as remakes go, RE, FF7 and now silent hill 2. I dont see a reason why not... Mass effect legendary editions is great as well... Making great games is a tough job.. there are only 5-10 great games every year with 100s of releases. Its fine if you make a remake .. but do it right thats all that matters, i never played FF7, RE games and even mass effect if ut wasnt for remakes I'd have lost on great experiences. So, its really fine man ..there are great gsmes out there which are new im playing wukong , Ragnarok and FF16.

    Ill say I do not think its bad to have remakes and remasters because some stories can be helped with a lil bit of improvement, but its true that we got a massive obsession for a long while for this, we bury new ideas under the rug and prefer to stick with the old, which is never a good sign, look at the industry right now xD we are in a decline for a long while and I dont think we will get out of there that easily. The answer? The same one as always, greed, the scourge of creativity and I know what I am talking about xD because I base most of my work in marketing and they are the safest play ever.... Yeah let it burn.... something new will grow from the ashes eventually

    • @gmersdelight
      @gmersdelight 14 дней назад

      Great points! I totally agree that remakes and remasters can be a great way to refine or modernize certain stories, especially when done with care. Sometimes, older games have brilliant ideas that could really benefit from a fresh coat of paint. But like you said, the problem is when it becomes an obsession and starts overshadowing new ideas. The constant recycling of the past shows the industry's hesitance to take risks, which can seriously limit creativity. The decline we’re seeing is partly fueled by this "play it safe" mentality. And you're right, greed often plays a big role here-it’s about minimizing risk and maximizing profit. It’s sad because gaming thrives on new experiences, but when the focus is on short-term gains, it’s creativity that suffers. But like you said, maybe letting things "burn" for a bit isn’t all bad. Sometimes a shake-up forces innovation to rise again, let’s hope the creative flame reignites sooner rather than later!

  • @AzerFraze
    @AzerFraze 15 дней назад

    This is such a hard topic to discuss. You got remasters like the Horizon Zero Dawn one which is available for 10€ if you own the original, being worked on by a newer team to them accustomed to the workings of the studio and uses the improvements from the sequel is absolutely fine. On the other hand the Until Dawn "remaster" is a 70€ downgrade from a new studio that takes away artistic design choices for more ~realism~ and to generate buzz for an upcoming movie and maybe a new game because of one added ending. Then you have remakes like Silent Hill 2, which itself is a great horror game, but also downgrades the game experience by using modernizing a lot of things and stretching out the game to appeal to the "hours per money spent" crowd. The original became a cult classic because of how unique it was, and it's a shame that on modern platforms a lesser experience is all thats legally available to purchase.

    • @gmersdelight
      @gmersdelight 14 дней назад

      You're right, it’s such a tricky topic! There are some remasters, like Horizon Zero Dawn, that feel justified, especially when they’re affordable and improve on the original without losing its essence. But then you have examples like Until Dawn, where a "remaster" feels more like a downgrade-stripping away artistic choices for a more "realistic" look and charging a high price, which feels like a cash grab. The Silent Hill 2 remake is another good point. There’s a balance to be struck between making games accessible and preserving what made them great in the first place and it feels like in recent years, companies have failed to get some consistency in this regard.

  • @gmersdelight
    @gmersdelight 15 дней назад

      Only older Animal Crossing give that sense of moving to a small town with a small yet "alive" community. Villagers sometime are rude, others are funny, sometime they are way too much into gossip in drama. They challenge you. And that makes them feel more real. My favorite memories? Playing it with my wife by my side. And about the customization, I usually try to differienciate zones using the trees, flowers, and some simple designs like some brick tiles to create some paths and and separate locations. By no means I think Wild World is the best one. But the art style, the simplicity, and the funny dialogue of the villagers and NPCs is what makes this game my favourite to revisit.

      @@professorhikaru3939 Fully agreed! The older AC games do have a very unique feeling that has seemingly been lost in more modern iterations. Not necessarily a bad approach, but something has been lost in the process.

    Regardless I doubt Yasuke was a samurai but just a bagholder, given the strict rules of the time and the blatant manipulation on wikipedia about it to promote with dare i say perfect timing: a book, then the anime, then the movie and now a videogame by people linked to and funded by Blackrock, famous for promoting lgbtq+ and inclusivity campaigns all over the world and by any means... the most obvious thing I can think is that Yasuke was just a dark skinned man of Mongolian origin, or east southeast asian origin since it's said to have been brought in Japan by an Italian Jesuit where his company was operative in East and Southeast Asia and since very often and even in today's days in those areas many episodes of gigantism are documented. So once again, imho I think that to exercise this so called "inclusivity" yet another exclusion and distorted historical view was exercised.

  • @infini_ryu9461
    @infini_ryu9461 3 месяца назад

    This is all quite cute. You said a whole lot without saying anything. ACS doesn't even get the basics of Japan correct, that's even before getting to the idea of Yasuke being a Samurai. Ubisoft has also had to stand down from the claims of some of it's colleagues that this is a historically accurate representation of Sengoku Japan, because it's nowhere close. They have stated it's fiction now. There's a difference between having a black person in Japan and using a black person as a main character, with a Chinese backdrop, and a hip hop beat to go with it as you kill asians. Given what is going on in America right now with Asian Hate crimes, it is completely tone deaf. Japanese people aren't "diverse" enough. They neeed to preach their black fetish to us the gamers. That's why they did it.

  • @kellyprice8246

      Agree on the first part. And I totally get why some people may be disappointed because they expected a Japanese lead character. Yasuke served Oda Nobunaga for the span of 1 year and 3 months before Nobunaga's demise (from March of 1581 to June of 1582). Nobunaga had given Yasuke status as his retainer and bodyguard due to his physique, and had intents to let Yasuke govern a castle, which would thereby elevate Yasuke's status to Samurai. That had not happened before his death in the coup staged by Akechi Mitsuhide. Akechi Mitsuhide had not killed Yasuke in the coup, stating that Yasuke was of animal status and not worth killing. An unspecified man with dark skin was recorded working as a cannoneer / arquebusier under Arima Harunobu in the 1584 Battle of Okitanawate, possibly being Yasuke. This is about as much information as I can find on him. Does this make him a Samurai? Highly unlikely: why? Let's look at Toyotomi Hideyoshi's rise through the ranks of nobility: when Hideyoshi first served Nobunaga, he was not a Samurai but a low ranking retainer known as a Komono. Hideyoshi had worked for Nobunaga for 5 years before he'd become a noble by marrying his wife Nene, who was a daughter of a noble. The rise of a peasant into nobility through marriage like this was controversial enough that the event itself was dated and recorded (August 1561 to be exact). If Yasuke had indeed risen through the ranks of nobility in any manner, we would have more records of his existence simply through the unusualness of it. That we don't have more specific text pointing to a time in which he'd become noble makes it unlikely that he'd ever become a Samurai (not impossible mind you). Could Yasuke have become a Samurai if he'd continued to serve Oda Nobunaga and Nobunaga hadn't died? Sure, Hideyoshi managed it, why not Yasuke. In the timeframe he was allocated though? Unlikely.

    Do you think that within those time periods where expansion and conquering Lands, by pride & sincerity they will just give historical titles to foreigners?? Asians doesn't like to share their culture in other foreigners unknown to their land from that time period, SAMURAI is a highest form and honor, they don't simply grant it to an individual so easily.. In Japan, they do not welcome Christianity or any religions aside from what they believed in.. Ninjas wasn't even considered as an honorable task, and they were just messengers and only use lethal response when necessary, but not freely in combat.. Asian puts pride in their heritages, just like chinese don't want to share martial arts/bomb powder ingredients to other foreigners.. AND checkout UBISOFT's statement about YASUKE.. *PLUS Japan government would like to fact check these - Govt. officials wouldn't simply ignrore this just because "AC is just a GAME" (small details of lie spread to the world can be damaging in the actual image of the country if left uncheck just because it's a game.. It becomes a propaganda and small details like this can be viewed the whole "TRUE" to other foreign countries) Japanese is furious because instead of using a fictional OG fictional character, they used an actual person as a protagonist, instead of an original Japanese.. which they couldve added Yasuke as a NPC like they alwys do.. Historical Fiction story telling of Assassin's Creed was top notch before they injected political correctness, they give meaning in teaching student's about history within the games.. just like the early titles, before the RPG era of AC, and they were still doing good in Origins.. It only changed when they started going their own ways..

Lockley basically made it all up to sell books, and there were most likely no Black samurai in feudal Japan. Ubisoft is using flawed research as an excuse to shoehorn in their DEI agenda. Yasuke never once so far did make anyone interested in African history and neither would you need him to introduce japanese history to a broader audience. not this part of Japanese history at least, as Oda Nobunaga's name alone would be popular enough for that.

      Who, then, are my masters and when will I be getting my paycheck? 😂 Of course I'm reading off of a script, you think I learn an entire script by heart? Jesus, take a hard look at yourself and get some serious help. Professional psychiatrists are available and willing to help.

    Typically,people like you try to twist the words of so called "critics". Might there be a person who said that,the majority, correctly so criticized not the inclusion but the fact the Yasuke is the MAIN character. At best he spend a couple years as an envoy of merchants in Japan garning some reputations with the blue blooded allowed to carry equipment for Oda,basically being a item of curiosity. Instead of having I'm be a NPC Sidequest Charakters which would represent his actual presence in that time,pushing a agenda which will not pay off for them.
