I've definitely binged these channels trying to learn tips. And while there are nuggets of good information, they definitely prey on peoples hopes and desires. Maybe they aren't all intending to do that, but a good chunk of their income definitely comes from that.

Every time I see a vidiq post on social media, I have to reply with disagreement, lol 😂. Some of their advice is OK if you're just starting and need some framework, but whatever they teach won't help much in the long run. Every RUclips account is different; what worked for one channel won't necessarily work for another. Heck, we can see this in our own videos! I did a video recently that got 100k views, then made 5 follow-up videos. Only one of those has broken 10k so far. There's no clear reason why my first video took off; I was late to the topic, there was already content out there about the product, and my video is just a walkthrough. Why did it take off? I believe it was my lucky piece of content that was due for RUclips promotion. I have this theory that RUclips randomly picks one of your videos to test every now and then, giving it extra impressions. If it meets their performance metrics, they'll promote it for a while.

This niche of RUclips growth…can be so frustrating. They make it seem like it is so easy. All you have to do is exactly what they say to get monetized

You described the funnel correctly, but I still think that some of their free information for those who’s just started is not that bad? Especially, vidIQ. Those who never done any digital marketing things might be confused with what’s a title, thumbnails etc. And you don’t have to buy anything, just to watch their videos. Some other creators you mentioned are worse in sense of exploiting their viewers. 5K for a course is crazy! Also some of theirs videos are annoying. Beside trying to sell you their course they try to product place apps and software in their free videos, like it’s not sponsored, but I’ve been online enough to know that they are lying and that’s why I stopped watching them.

Ok I get the double text rule because they have their own life and you don't want to look desperate. But what if I write her 2 or 3 paragraphs all in 1 text so she can read it over the 3 hours she doesn't respond and doesn't need to worry about asking more about it?

As a youtube straigest this is a great video. I highly dislike all the "youtube growth guys" as they tend to sell things that don't work and are over all a net negative.

I used to just binge watch these guy's content until I realized that they're just repeating the same thing over and over again for their funnel. Great narration, and even greater pacing. I’ve been caught in it too and I find it insufferable how the advice is strictly tailored to making normie slop with all the transitions and brain rot frame changes every 3 seconds. Some people got big by doing nothing but talking to the camera. These people are just full of it

I’m so happy to have watched this. I have been on RUclips trying to grow my small gaming channel and I have come to the same conclusion, these channels just exploit people looking for a quick fix to success. RUclips is a marathon, not a race. Awesome video. Subscribed.

As a fairly new guy on the YT scene, your video was one "yes, I feel that way too" after another. And once you click on a VidIQ video, YT will automatically put all these other ones on your homepage. All working on your insecurities - and how they are the ones who are going to help you. As if! Thanks again. For making me feel - not alone!

A high quality video like this will get you way better results than any information you could possibly get from their videos. Good visual elements/editing + good idea= views and subscribers Also cant believe someone finally spoke up about this. That in itself could be a niche on its own

Hello amigo, I'm Currently in the same situation, but I realized that by doing high effort content with personality about an interesting or fairly interesting topic, you are already on the right path, JUST KEEP AT IT. Also, remember being constant, It's just pure statistics, if for example you upload a short a day and a long form video a week, with a fairly interesting topic and high effort, eventually SOMEONE will watch, it's a Fact. Stay possitive!

I absolutely agree and have been thinking of doing a video like this for awhile. I’m now trying to just be myself on my vids instead of trying to do everything the RUclips “ gurus” say. The funny thing is, I’ve experienced better faster growth sense I stopped watching them. 😅

I stopped watching Ali Abdaal, Think media, VidIQ and other YT ‘gurus’ when I realised they’re just companies regurgitating the same old stuff but repackaging it as ‘new information’ because it gets views from millions of people who want to create, but never start. Like many things in life, you’ll do well if you prioritise quality over quantity, are engaging and build trust by being reliable and honest. Oh and be honest, you wanted to trigger us with that dirty screen, didn’t you? Didn’t you?!!?

Great topic! Selling dreams has always been lucrative. This type of content is possibly the most talentless grift on the platform... I had a video go 'viral' enough to get me to 1,000 subscribers recently and the algorithm started serving me all this exact type of trash content about "how to grow" and "how to monetize".

Thank you for exposing these insane channels full of useless information. As a Life / Relationship Coach, my goal is to help as many people as I can both online and offline. I do have my own book and course but I would never price them beyond their true value. It took me 800 hours to write and edit my highly unique philosophical book and over 75 hours to create my unique self-help course. I could easily charge hundreds for each, but choose not to. Yet so many people these days are charging and arm and a leg for common knowledge you can easily find for free. Crazy times indeed.

i feel like people should make what they want to make, and how they want to make it, not just catering to what they think the algorithm "wants." thanks for making this video and generating discussion on it.

I will push back a little and say that I think many of the people who run the courses legitimately want them to help people. The reality is there is no magic though.
