I could honestly rename the video 2025 if I really wanted, things rarely change in Smite 1, especially now Smite 2 is due to launch real soon. That being said I'm going to be playing 2 a bunch on launch and hope to replace this with an updated version for that as a LOT changed there

I keep going back every month or so just to play a game because it was so damn good

I really need to get around to rerecording this for Smite 2. But not all that much has changed from a complete beginner's perspective!

While that might help during the learning process, I can't recommend enough that players learn with a movable camera. You're effectively playing half blind otherwise 😅 But if thats how you have fun, more power to you!

@@divok232 as a beginner the most things I struggle with is the garbage UI of the game, is not friendly at all for new players, took me a long time to understand some basic visual stuff not the ,,so these are creepers and this is the map and so on" so lame.

There is a literal tutorial in game that breaks down everything in digestible portions

@@joshgarza6360 if the tutorials would actually work...if I do something that I'm not supposed to do as a next step it will allways freeze and fail to give guide anymore.

@@joshgarza6360 did you ever do the tutorials? Cuz it breaks and fails to give guide anymore in many cuz is not optimized for all the changes this game got.

I'm not sure what the default keybind is anymore, but you can click your gold at anytime to access the shop window. The buttons next to your gold help you control your courier to deliver your items if you aren't in base!

Dota 1 player many years ago. Can you drop items for other players now?

Thanks! I'm slowly putting together a part 2 to release this year. I also take regular breaks from Dota (although not 12 years!) so I absolutely understand having to get back into things, glad I could help ^^

Thanks! Its crazy how most beginner guides for most games arent suitable for anyone who has never played before. Its like all those junior role jobs that require 2 years of experience just to fetch coffee haha

Absolutely! (I have played both quite a bit) So in general League > Dota Support > Pos 5 Hard Support Jungle > Pos 4 Soft Support Top > Pos 3 Offlane Mid > Pos 2 Mid ADC > Pos 1 Carry So a top player in league would play offlane in dota. Or if you want to support the top laner (as both side lanes get a support) that would be the Soft Support Depending on if you are Good (Radiant) or Bad (Dire) team will change which lane this is. Radiant (Good) Team: Top Lane = Offlane & Soft Support Bot Lane = Carry & Hard Support Dire (Bad) Team: Top Lane = Carry & Hard Support Bot Lane = Offlane & Soft Support Hope that helps!

You know what, I mentioned the goal but didn't explicitly tell you, sorry! The goal is to destroy the enemy base. So you start by killing their towers (the big shooting structures in each lane), and eventually their barracks (the things creeps come out of) and finally the ancient (giant glowing structure in the middle of their base)

I've recently taught the game to a bunch of friends, so I have some more ideas. Just got some more things to test on them ^^

The builds we just get from the guide menu ^^ And for couriers I manage mine with hotkeys. I forget what the defaults are, but you can bind "deliver" and "return" which are the main 2 you will need :) Glad this guide could be a bit more beginner for you though :D

You started playing DotA 2 recently too? I'm way too overwhelmed to even start, I did try it previously but failed miserably. So idk if I will. How is your experience tho?

@@shadowgag4526 I think if you put in lots of time just mastering the basics then you will have a good time but other MOBAs are way easier barrier to entry. I wish I could take Dota2 heroes and put then in other MOBAs. The difference between playing games like HoTS, LoL, and Smite compared to this are too drastic. I feel like this game should be its own category. I login but usually logout before I even start a match because the game is too intimidating.

@@shadowgag4526 If you guys haven't tried turbo it might be worth a shot. The games are faster and way more casual. Sometimes that makes it harder to learn, but I've recently had success teaching new players in a more chill environment like turbo

I go over them in the video! It depends on what role you want to play. Do you want to be the killer carry? the flashy mid? the tanky offlane? or the every helpful supports?

Well I only wasted about 30 seconds then, so not too much was lost. There's plenty of gameplay in the video haha

Bristle is okay yeah. He is more of a pubstomper, so if your friend was to play pos4, you could play bristle and carry them as you know how to abuse it. But a pretty simple character so it would be close to the top of my list to recommend :)

Metas come and go sadly, at least cupid remains simple for the player themselves. I will definitely remake this for smite 2 though with some updated info! Thanks for the support <3

@greginacastle I think its also the heal I see so many cupids run out to get their heal to just die to an ability

That would be me haha, I haven't played in a month or two now! How is it? I do miss Omega Strikers, definitely a highlight of my 2023

I might revisit this for 2024, but generally it holds up. Hirez have added some unique mechanics here and there, but nothing a new player needs to be too worried about ^^

I have played on mobile too and I'm pretty certain you only match against other mobile players. Otherwise I would have struggled a loooooot more 😅
