    Very good instruction on forehand . I will study it and work on it. Sometimes when I hit my forehand it still looks like a chicken wing. Is it because my elbow is too close to my body ? Also what's the first move on the right foot ? Pivot or step out ? Thanks.

    everybody is teaching the grip wrong. the index knuckle does nothing in the shot. the key is the thumb has to push bevel 6... the index will just lay where it lays based on grip size and hand size.

    • @broddfelt
      @broddfelt 8 дней назад

      It will be the same grip, eastern backhand, with thumb pushing bevel 6. Both ways work, as long as you don’t have the thumb pushing on bevel 6 through the shot like in the 70s and early 80s

    The kick serve is not the Holy grail that these coaches make it out to be. It's not some unattainable shot that only few possess. Just like any shot in tennis or anything else for that matter all it takes is practice. One doesn't need to have a great kick or topspin serve to be successful at any level of tennis. The most important aspect of serving is accuracy and variety of placement. I just don't get why so much video time is devoted to this one type of serve.

    • @broddfelt
      @broddfelt 15 дней назад

      @@capricornmagic63 I kind of agree. But I think it’s good to know the concept of hitting topspin to get greater clearance over the net. Today most players hit it with combination with slice serve so the can get more power. Like you said variation in pace and placement is the key to a good serve. Sometimes you want the ball to kick up a little higher into their backhand or if you want to play serve and volley you will have better time to get to the net. It’s not a must, but on the second serve you want to have some kind of spin on the serve to get greater margin or bigger window to aim.

    I’m enjoying watching your videos and learning all of your great tips, they are very well explained!!! 👏🏼 Thank you! I recently started to play again after many, many years, and unfortunately triggered my tennis elbow while practicing serving. I’ve seen many videos explaining the process but I yet to find good videos of exercises that can be done at a gym, and/or at home to strengthen the muscles, and the movements used while playing tennis, same for stretching videos (with just focus on tennis) …just throwing that idea out there! 😅😊 In my youth, and still today you see coaches preparing the kids with proper warm-ups, and stretch at the end. But now in my late 40’s -adult clinics skip the whole thing and go straight to “tennis moves warm up” on the court without given the body a little bit of let’s get ready to hit some balls.

    • @broddfelt
      @broddfelt 16 дней назад

      Thank you so much for the idea. I actually got sore elbow and beginning of tennis elbow now after I started to play again. But I got it under control I think after doing a couple of exercises and some changes in my racket. I was actually going to make a video about it. Planning of doing some weightlifting videos as well if I’m aloud to film in the gym. Have to find a time when nobody is at the gym.

      Awesome! Looking forward to watching them! Some people had suggested changing to a lighter racket, -which I could, at least while going through it. But I honestly haven’t given it much thought. Also, the impact of the ball hitting the racket bothers me more than the weight of it. I’m mostly focusing on recovering right now, but I’d like to train to strengthen the muscles to preventing it from recurring again. Thx again!

It took me about 1 hour or so. hardest part was just to figure out where and how to begin each side, knots position etc.

    • @broddfelt
      @broddfelt 21 день назад

      Hi, it’s a hard question since I haven’t seen you play. However, with an eastern grip the contact point will be further in front of you. Otherwise the string might be more closed. With a continental you will make contact further back.

  • @MichaelDamianPHD
    @MichaelDamianPHD 23 дня назад

    Patrik I started using continental and it feels like my hand is slipping a little bit off the racquet during the serve --- right at the heel of the palm it's shifting. How tight should I hold it?

    • @broddfelt
      @broddfelt 23 дня назад

      Hi, it’s a good question and happens with a lot of people in the beginning. 1. Grip Pressure: You want to aim for a relaxed grip, where the pressure is about a 4 or 5 out of 10. It should feel secure, but not tense. A grip that’s too tight can reduce fluidity and racket speed during your serve, while a grip that’s too loose could cause slipping, which you’re experiencing. 2. How far down are you holding with your little finger? Is it over the butcap or just above? Easier to create racket speed and hold looser the further down. However, it’s easier to hold it just 2cm from the butcap ends on the handle, grip will be more firm. 3. Make surre you have a fresh grip or a newer grip. Old grips are slippery. 4. You might open up the fingers, and change grip and that’s why. When try the coin trick from my grip video: ruclips.net/video/hvpZjClIp8s/видео.htmlsi=lE_zgZP3iibQW1DI
