    7:40 I'm still new with like 50 hours of playtime and ~2000 plays and I picked this up intuitively. It has been very fun playing harder songs. I went from single notes to learning chords, and now with the 3 chords, the way I intuit them in head is "okay, this is that 2 chord with this note" and that's how I process them. Songs also rarely have 4 chords and I process them the same. Some 3 chords I don't even need to thing "this is that 2 chord with this note", I just "get" it as one unit, like I just "get" a normal chord. The symmetrical chords are way easier to learn, for obvious reasons.

    There are friendly 7k maps specially in graveyard. Also looking for a comfortable skins can help you improve. To improve playing 7k more, play other games. For LNs mapping - O2Jam Remix or O2Mania. but there's a private O2 Server that has a diabolical mapping that is only for madman players we're majority of top ranking players in Osumania 7k are playing. BMS - For dense note patterns, no LN's (sometimes 8k because of slider) But majority players will always tell is to just play, there are players who got improved by playing only in osumania. Just do it slowly and don't be conscious about the accuracy in early days of playing 7k. And have fun.

    as someone who has started with 4K but has been playing 7K for around 3 years, can say that starting off is incredibly hard. even 1 star maps feel like hell to a beginner. starting from maps that are below 1 star can help with getting used to the high keycount and finger placement. at lower star ratings, there will be noticeable increase in difficulty per 0.1 stars. after 2-3 stars, improvement becomes linear but skills like reading and hitting LNs will be something you DEFINITELY want to work on. learning inverse LN is also a neat skill to have. experiment with HT to practice certain patterns and try to clear maps with at least 95-96%, at the very least 94% but preferably the former. when you reach higher star maps such as mid 5 star to low 6 star, having good finger independence will help you play skillsets such as brackets and LN. and don't be afraid to try graveyarded maps, of course, since many high quality maps tend to be neglected by the ranking criteria.

      Use the 6 key on the top of your keyboard (not controller or numpad). Use the left/right arrow keys to find the 7 keys mode, assuming that is what you are trying to bind. Use the up/down arrows to select which key you want to bind and press enter to make it red. Then press the corresponding key on your controller and it should map the key. Let me know which part specifically you are stuck on.

Also its a better reading practice. When you try to look at a fixed spot, i would compare that to binding your reading to "real time" scheduling. It is either done in a fixed period, or you abandon it, for the sake of maintaining the next segment. To me it sounds like it should force you into developing the kind of reading that is as resilient to dips as far as possible.

    2:13 Maybe your wording was off, or maybe you were referring to low level play, but 7k is definitely physically demanding. On top of reading and physicality, you need high levels of finger control. Jakads and jhlee0133 aren't pausing in Ascension DT just for show. Top players like Kalkai aren't pausing in their ranked scores for show. Playing on a standard keyboard layout, you will definitely get physically bottlenecked playing for example, chordstream, because of bracketing. Most people can't even alternate above 130bpm stably with their middle and ring fingers in isolation, and this problem gets magnified with how interdependent other fingers are to your ring fingers. You may not have reached any physical bottlenecks yet since from what I've seen, you play on a controller (less emphasis on middle ring alternation) and are barely getting into stella charts, but there is a reason Overjoy players are humorously called gorillas lol. The rest of your advice is great though, generally a gem of a video for beginners.

    • @MatVeiQaaa
      @MatVeiQaaa 15 дней назад

      well it is on average less physically demanding, at least on the wrist. Probably more demanding on the fingers. But in the end, when you approach the limit, your physical capabilities end up being the ultimate factor.

    playing 7k definitely helps with less keys like 4k and I'm stating that from experience. it's just that you have to play 7k a lot to catch up to the point where it would passively boost 4k skill. but of course it won't get you far in 4k. you have to play 4k if you want to be quite good at it. 7k even helps with 8k (not 7+1k) because at one point I tried 8k and I was doing well on 2.5* maps on the second or third day. it would be impossible for me to get that good if I just started playing from scratch

  • @7kenjoyer
    @7kenjoyer 23 дня назад

    I want to point out that besides the bms pack 5ynt3ck also made an o2jam pack (it's ln based) although it's probably too difficult for beginners. and yes the packs are good as I've played them myself and I've seen lots of good players play them too. unfortunately a few converts are be buggy or mistimed but other than that the packs are very good! also I wouldn't recommend ignoring ranked/loved maps and I wouldn't say they're gimmicky. bms ones are the ones that feel gimmicky, especially if you play with random mod. this mod will make you face really gimmicky stuff but it's not a bad thing

  • @7kenjoyer
    @7kenjoyer 23 дня назад

    in my opinion there's nothing wrong with 'tall' skins and I'd say it's just preference (yeah you said it later). bms players definitely like lane covers though. the stuff you show in the video definitely looks like the skin should be not as 'tall' but it's because the maps are not 0-1*. like I said in my other comment starting with low scroll speed is highly recommended but over time as you get better you can increase the scroll speed and it will compensate for maps becoming denser and denser and they won't look as cluttered

    • @sean12444
      @sean12444 21 день назад

      agreed, the lane cover on the example skin toward the beginning was quite extreme i dont think ive ever seen anyone play with such a vertically small playfield besides endterminal i do think its good to experiment with your skin though rather than only relying on scroll speed changes and a full play area, some people prefer hidden, some people prefer fadein/lane cover, but then again either of those could also just not be your thing. i started with 7k and used a pretty big circle skin with a very high scroll speed but relearning the mode in a different scroll direction and on bms ive been using a lane cover with lower scroll speed now also for anyone reading this reply considering trying fadein/hidden, edit your skin to add that because the mods adjusting the cover size based on combo is really annoying

    • @ItsVegaSama
      @ItsVegaSama 19 дней назад

      Yeah I started off on 28 scroll speed, this was the period where I learned how to tap in 7k. After I started S ranking like 2.8*+ and delved into 3*s, I increased my scroll speed to like 32 and it’s been like that ever since. 7k super man, after quitting mania for like a year because of school and demotivation on 4k, 7k is just so much more fun

    • @stupidsnake8876
      @stupidsnake8876 16 дней назад

      yeah I was going to say a similar thing. As a mid 3 digit in osu!mania and an o2jam player I prefer being able to use a high scroll speed and look near the top of a skinny and tall skin so the notes are more spaced. In the end it's a preference thing, and bms mains tend use large lane covers and slow scroll speed. I think it's more about the delay between when your eyes register the note and when you have to press the note with your finger. I 100% agree that a lane cover would be good for especially newer players as to achieve the same delay as a fast skin without lane cover, the note doesn't have to be moving as fast

  • @7kenjoyer
    @7kenjoyer 23 дня назад

    I see players ask how to get into 7k in random comment sections and they either get no response or get just a once sentence response so I'd like to share my thoughts where it's relevant and especially that this video just came out don't start 7k with high scroll speed because it will be harder to get used to, even if you're good at 4k and you use high scroll speed in 4k. take it slow. don't rush to 2-3* maps, play 0* and low 1* maps to get used to the mode. converts from standard will do as well. you can also try different skins. most players use bar skins but there are also players who perform better with circle skins or even arrow skins! I remember some good player recommending a circle skin and after trying one I never looked back. also the improvement speed of others shouldn't matter to you. improve at your own speed and try to have fun playing and enjoy the music! expecting too much and comparing yourself to others all the time can be very demotivating if the mindset is not right some things don't really matter at the start but matter more and more once you get better and eventually become absolutely essential: 1) make sure to warm up with easy maps (97-99+%) and after that you can push your limits with harder maps if you want. playing the whole session for accuracy works as well. just don't focus on one specific thing too much 2) don't play too many maps you can't even get 90% on. it's mostly just mashing. there are exceptions which you will figure out on your own over time 3) I don't recommend neglecting any broad skills like ln. once you get better you can start playing fln/inverse and it will help with ln in general 4) use funorange's rate changer on maps you like: if you have 98% you can add 0.1x but 0.05x for (chord)jacks because they scale heavily. if some map is too hard then don't hesitate slowing it down or just use HT. better than mashing 5) there are a lot of useful 7k packs with lots of maps but most of them are for more advanced players. by the time you get to that level I'm sure you will figure out what those are and where to get them (or you still can ask me if you aren't sure!) 6) generic stuff like: sleep well, eat well, take care of your health and especially mental health. these things DO matter

      @honma7k 22 дня назад

      as a vet 7k player of around 6 years, this is all great advice if any new players are reading! i would also personally recommend dabbling in other 7k VSRG games as you get more comfortable with just being able to hit notes. nowadays there are convert packs in osu for everything, but engine makes a big difference and osu engine can end up causing bad habits some times due to its leniency. that said, there are players who reached the top only using osu, so don’t feel like you’re severely missing out if you don’t

    While I agree that a lot of things come down to technique, I still think stamina IS a huge factor when you're playing for score. Like, getting regular /easy clears is all about reading, sure, but going for AAAs (especially on normal/hard judge) even at regular 10s does require a lot of physical strength to reinforce the technique to the point of automation and that point has been emphisized by A LOT of IIDX players. I remember Dj Darqs talking about his experience at the arcades and he said that quite often when good players were playing, the cabs were SHAKING like MAD just because of the sheer force those players used to press the buttons. I thought it was kind of weird and pointless until I decided to give it a try myself and in a matter of 6 months old rusty me propelled from 7th dan straight into Chuuden. But then again, we're all different. P.S Besides, smashing the buttons is A LOT of fun :D

    • @PowerPowered
      @PowerPowered 5 месяцев назад

      I can't speak with certainty since my goals in the game (pushing higher difficulties and aiming for clears) tend to neglect timing and accuracy. Therefore, the advice from the video comes from a clearing perspective. In that sense, I don't believe when people say that they are being limited by their physical strength. 7k just does not require physical strength or 'stamina' the same way 4k does. My highest easy clear was an st1 with a few st0s before I stopped playing due to injury and not once did I feel stamina ever held me back. Although I do understand why people think stamina could be holding them back, since I obviously feel that same sensation of losing stamina, frankly, I improved too fast to chalk it up to just having gotten physically stronger. This concept of feeling like you ran out of stamina being not due to lack of strength but rather lack of reading ability is something other very good insane kaiden level players have told me. NOW when it comes to timing, like I said I legitimately cannot say from experience on whether it's true that you do need to be very strong physically to be able to time well. However my speculation is that pushing takes significantly more physical strength than timing, so it stands to reason that if you won't be skill capped due to strength when it comes to clearing, you won't be when it comes to timing. You very well may be correct but that's just how I see it. By the way, I saw your bms guide a while back and I thought it's a very solid guide for IIDX players going to bms. My guide is more aimed towards osu/other rhythm game players so hope we aren't stepping on each other's toes lol. 👍

    • @vsrgtown
      @vsrgtown 5 месяцев назад

      @@PowerPowered It's fine, no hard feeling at all! In fact, the more BMS/IIDX guides, the better! What I meant was that progression in rhythm games is very individual regardless of how many tips and pieces of advice there are floating around the internet (which is why I omitted the topic of progression in my guide entirely). While for some focusing solely on hitting the notes (clearing) is enough, which many high-ranking BMS players suggest, for me personally, it wasn't the solution to overcome my biggest 10th dan barrier back in the day, hence I stopped playing for a while. My biggest issue was not inablily to read at level 12, it was the sheer lack of physical strength and (most importantly) finger flexibility where my fingers just couldn't catch up / bend fast enough for too long with tricky patterns and would eventually strain to the point of hurting. I returned to the game with severely degraded skills and quickly managed to reach chuuden/5th insane bms dan when I started using a lot more strength to press the keys at low difficulties gradually raising the bar from as low as mere 5s to reinfornce the technique and patterns + the common rule of low BPM first -> high BPM later after a warm up. It's only when I started playing Insane BMS around ★13-★14, I kind of started feeling that I was finally reaching the point where I can still press the buttons but fail to keep up with reading.

      Unfortunately there's no auto scratch option in beatoraja. There are multiple reasons why you shouldn't use auto scratch but if you absolutely need the option, the best solution would be to use LR2 (Lunatic Rave 2), the other popular BMS client which does have an auto scratch option. LR2 is outdated in many ways but it is used by as many people, if not more, than beatoraja. For installing LR2, you can try this guide which I found quickly: news.keysounds.net/lr2guide Again, I would recommend treating BMS as a new game and just learning how to scratch. It's fun when you actually do manage to learn it.

    hey man, idk if you know the answer but what is the reason for bms, o2jam, etterna, etc... players being better than those who only play osu!mania? are the maps harder? is the difficulty progression more accurate (for example osu!mania difficulty rating prefers certain types of maps which makes it less accurate)?

      osu!mania automated pp grade system (or the pp system in general) unfortunately favors various things which motivates players to specialize in certain skills as opposed to becoming more "well-rounded", but of course there are a fair amount of exceptions to the rule (those being very high-ranked osu!mania players who have no problem playing high level BMS or o2jam)

      the 1# reason is because bms/o2jam/etterna punishes you EXTREMELY hard if you press when there is no notes on that lane or just overall spamming. bms is the strictest,i think its like 1.2seconds or something insane,might even be larger window,you will get a bad even if there is absolutely no notes even on the screen on that lane. on osumania the bad window is 120ms at OD10,and higher on lower OD(meaning its easier on higher OD lol), it is 150ms on OD0. on etterna its 180ms and you can get a cb rush,meaning you can hit the same notes multiple times,resulting in multiple bads/goods,cant do this in osumania. this forces you to learn to cancel cb rushes. o2jam also has somewhat strict bad window,but it is not as tight as bms. bms also has cb rushing. bms has also the most uncomfortable maps EVER at lower lvl,which forces you to get good technical skill and good finger independence early on. this evens out eventually,but maps in osumania are way more dense but comfortable patterns early on.
