RSKT - The Capable Musician
Австралия
Добавлен 27 фев 2021
Hi, I'm RSKT! An artist based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. Over the past few years, I've been trying my best to learn how to create my own music. I've learned a lot by doing it, so I've decided to make this channel not only to share my progress but to also provide some tutorials for how I do all of this stuff.
I have an art channel too! Check out my Featured Channels section for "RSKT - The Capable Artsist."

Bring me up - RSKT (Deluge, AE Modular, Zoia)
This was one of the demo tracks I uploaded for my 2OSC/d video in The AE Modular Video Library. I haven't had a lot of time to upload lately, but I've always liked this track and decided to release it as it's own video. Hope ya'll enjoy! Hopefully I'll be back to uploading soon.

The AE Modular Video Library - LOGIC

In this episode of The AE Modular Video Library, we'll be taking a look at the LOGIC module. This is a particularly useful module for triggers, gates, sequencers, and sound design, so strap in as we take a deep dive! Please note - When I demo the NAND output, it behaves similarly to the AND output. This could be because the triggers sent by Euclid Grid are so short that the AND and NAND outputs...

Thank you so much for all your deluge video manuals!!!....it"s so much work to create such content! I got my deluge a few weeks ago. I had to set up my hardware synths to my deluge...and now i'm sitting here watching all of your vids and write a simple short cut document of all the relevant shortcuts . :D
@@isonoe2425 thanks so much for the kind words! It is a lot of work, and I still need to cover the last two updates. Just not really feeling up to it yet tbh. Either way, glad you're able to get a lot out of the videos so far :)
late to it but thanks for explainitng it all in human, so many vids are about the look and dont feel like they are made for a daily deluge user!
Very good sounds to start 2025!
Thanks so much man! I really appreciate it :)
Thank you very much for doing all this! I got deluge a few days ago. I can read the manual but it kind of puts me to sleep. Your videos move at the perfect learning pace for me. I’ve got an OLED version and on the Chopin firmware but for the most part pretty smooth.
@@jindoisland thanks so much! Yeah, I really need to get around to covering the latest changes. Haven't even had that much of a chance to dive into it just yet, so I'm going to be pretty slow to the mark I think.
@ are you based in NZ? I got go there with my band Dengue Fever to play WOMAD. Loved it there! Stayed another week and visited both islands.
@@jindoisland nah, I'm an Aussie mate haha, but our accents are fairly similar, I'll give you that. That's cool about your band going there though! I have a lot of friends from NZ, and it looks like a beautiful place.
@ sorry for the stupid assumption. I love Australia too! We’ve been there a few times. Got to see Tame Impala in Sydney or Melbourne before they got all big in the states.
@@jindoisland haha not all all, don't sweat it. And that's sick man, love Tame Impala. Glad you had a good time over here :)
🫶🏻
hi RISKT awesome video and samples. The groovebox racks arent working because they use sampler apparently and I have ableton intro which has simpler not sampler. Is there an easy way to tell the you racks to switch out sampler for simpler or should I build them from scratch like you do in this video? also in your racks the first 8 effect macros - where are they from? thanks again
That seems similar to performance mode on the Polyend Play.
It pretty much was inspired by that if I remember correctly.
Hi. So As I said below...my Deluge is here. I have to say your Syntghstrom should be paying you big bucks for this. I would be so lost without you.... Anyway, I wanted to let you know that your workaround for making individual notes ping ponging in synth track doesn't seem to work anymore. When I try to convert synth clip to kit I get screen message that clip is not empty. Unless I missed something...:D
Haha, thanks for the kind words. Yeah, it looks like they patched that out unfortunately. Not sure why. Either way, with individual row length, playback directions, and probability, you can still achieve similar results I guess.
This sounds so amazing! I would appreciate a whole Song so that a can hear it on repeat! Keep it up man!
Yeah, I think I need to upload some new Deluge performances. I think the latest update bricked a bunch of em though, haha, so might have to start from scratch.
@@RSKT_music I would love to see new performances from you. I just bought a deluge and it is on its way to me. Your Videos are very inspiring, especially this one! Is your user manual still uptodate with the New 1.2 Firmware?
I ordered mine last week. Now binging this channel :D I have to say one thing. It seems like you need to have black belt in FingerJitsu to be able to operate this machine :D
@@kamael1125 haha true. I dunno, it all comes down to muscle memory at the end of the day. You'll get used to it :)
Man oh man, I really appreciate your outstanding work, what a marvellous and bright tutorial series, although it will cost me 1400 euros since you definitely GAS-lighted me to buy one...
Haha great play on words. Hope you have a blast when you get your hands on it :)
Great explaining and very inspirational. Thank you so much.
@@lurkan76 glad you found it useful, :)
Thank you so much RSKT! I hate reading manuals, and I learn better in a video format that I can follow along with my own Deluge. Cheers!
No problem at all :)
Hi RSKT, thank you so much for your great videos. I am looking forward to your workflow videos, if it's still your plan, and would greatly benefit from more details regarding Deluge -> Ableton. Thanks !
Thanks so much! Unfortunately, it's not the plan right now. I wrote and started filming it twice, but it wasn't quite right. To be honest, this is a good thing, as I've learned a lot more since then and the Deluge has so many more features now! Hopefully I'll tackle it again in the future. Thanks again for watching :)
Having not seen the original, but coming across this - it seems to be a compressor with some EQ? Nice. (duh, then you explained it at the end while I was typing. I didn't pick up on the VCA amplification or the Fuzz. GREAT!!!!). I just picked up the SEM ivory colored 10k version of the Zoia and it's a peach.
That's awesome man! The zoia is so bloody versatile, it's definately worth having around. Plus that new 10k version looks so cooool! This patch was pretty basic, but it really helps bring my DAWless setup to life. Thanks for stopping by :)
Is the oled screen neccesary? I saw one with old one at good price
@@cleonx not at all! I used the Deluge for years without the OLED. I upgraded because it's nice, and makes sample browsing easier. Aside from that, there's nothing the OLED can do that the 7SEG can't. You can always upgrade it later if you really want it.
I'll add to the stream (deluge?) of users commenting! I recently acquired a deluge and your video series was unilaterally recommended on the Discord server, so here I am. Aside from a few moments where you do something very quickly that I am sure is second nature to you (thankfully rewinding is very low-effort) everything has been presented in a very easy to digest way. I'll be jumping between your entire series and my manual for quite some time to come. Thankyou !
@@evilrainbow welcome aboard! Always happy to hear this series is still helping people out. Thanks for tuning in :)
Thanks. 🤝 Shalom.
Definitely not "boring" if you are a new user! I thought that was a great into.
Glad you enjoyed it! Haha
amazing setup and performance man... 🙌🏻 I just bought a Deluge oled and I'm wondering if the Zoia is a good companion for the Deluge for live performances. I had an Octatrack, Syntakt and Digitone setup before but I'm forcing myself to move to fascinating Deluge workflow. With the octatrack I was doing some performance FX on the fly, can I do that with the Zoia? Can I build a bunch of different FX's on the Zoia and put them on its pads to activate them during the performance? many thanks in advance :)
@@orkunbagatur5055 you definately can do that! I made a couple of punch in style effects on my Zoia before, but I saw Cuckoo made one with tonnes of punch in effects, like beat repeats, pitch changes, reverse, etc. It might take a long time to figure out, but it would be a great exercise with a rewarding payoff. Hope you enjoy your Deluge! I definately reccomend upgrading to the community firmware when you get it. It brings this thing to a whole new level.
@@RSKT_music Oh wow! I would definitely check Cuckoo's one also :) One thing I forgot to ask is there a way to let the reverb / delay tails washed out when I turn off the FX on Zoia or it cut instantly? And is it possible to use the grid as an FX layout, like on the deluge community firmware for expl.
@@orkunbagatur5055 you could definately pull it off with some clever routing with some VCAs or Envelopes. And yes, you can lay things out however you want and make a whole page dedicated to the buttons you want to use. Hope that helps :)
@@RSKT_music thats crazy, i'm totally conviced ! :) many thanks for the infos man, that was valuable 🙏
Hi, your Deluge manual is fantastic! Detailed and crystal clear. You deserve more subs.
@@chascoppard thanks so much! Maybe it I actually made some new content I would haha
Best Community FW review on YT! Thanks!
Hey nice. Can you Tell us how to access that Menu?
@@PhantomGlee sure! You just need to press the keyboard button while in song view. It's part of the latest community firmware.
@ wow I have the latest firmware. Great very easy access
Very nice track and performance! Are you using your Zoia for end-of-chain mastering? I'd be curious about your patch, if so. I'm working on one myself.
@@jesset3241 thanks! So I'm using the Deluge as the mastering for this one, as it has a compressor built in now. The Zoia here is providing some reverb to the modular through a send effect. I did used to use my Zoia as an end of chain, you can see how I built that patch in one of my few RUclips shorts on this channel. It's not the best, but it god the job done! :)
@@RSKT_music I'll look for the short, thanks. Yeah i'm aware of the added compressor ability on the Deluge, but i'm looking into something a little more comprehensive, like with some EQing and saturation. Pretty tempted to get the new Hologram chroma console, actually, but seeing what i can do with the already-owned Zoia seems like a good way to hold back on the GAS.... for now :)
@@jesset3241 Fair enough. In that case the Zoia might be perfect for you. Play around and definately check out some of the mixing patches on patchstorage
Thank you RSKT. Brilliant as usual !
Thank you for creating this series of videos. After recently purchasing a Deluge, your videos have been invaluable in unlocking the potential of the instrument. So much better than the official manual! Even though we now have the OLED, the vast majority of the information you impart is still as valuable and in no way diminished!
Thanks so much! This guide switches to the OLED towards the end just before we get into community firmware stuff :)
OMG I haven't used my Deluge in a bit. Thought I'd check out what's new in the Community Firmware. Hmm Beethoven. What's in that? I feel like Rip Van Winkle. Thanks for the introduction to the future!
@@PatternMusic there's a newer firmware now, and it's got stem exporting! Open source was the best thing synthstrom ever did!
I absloutely love this approach. And i managed to build my own drumbox watching this ste by step. Such fun en joy. Thank u so much for this! One thing i cant figure out is how you play melodic parts and basslines. Every sample plays at C3 whitin the drumrack. I tried changing the setting to ' receive and play all notes' whitin the drumrack's i/o, but then the pad is gone form my drumrack and with that also all the macro's like sect sample, ADSR etc. What did i miss on the building off the bassbox en synthbox?
Thanks for watching! So glad you enjoyed the video. So with melodic parts, I'm not using a drum rack at all. For that, I'm using the Sampler instrument. You could also use Simpler, but you'll be limited to just one sound source. If you use Sampler, you can load up as many samples as you want. From there, you can map the sample select to a macro and you're off to the races. Start the video at 14:00 and you'll see that demonstrated. I also demo these racks in my Sample Pack video, which I recommend watching if you want to do some cool glitchy stuff with your new drumbox. Hope that helps, feel free to ask any more questions if you get stuck :)
Unreasonably amazing!
@@TheMorMor thanks so much!
PERFECT ! I am a new user of the Deluge and your video a very much informative ! Thanks for this knowledge sharing !
You're very welcome!
Good work!! ❤
Thank you! 😄
Oh wow; how have I not discovered your channel before? This is so awesome. How do you find Deluge? I invested in Hapax. Not sure that was wise.. 😮. Subscribed ! 😊
Welcome aboard! I love the Deluge so much that I made an entire video manual for it! I think the Hapax is awesome tbh. I'm not sure it's for me, but it's one hell of a sequencer! I don't think you can compare the two fairly though. Hapax can do a lot the Deluge can't, and vice versa. That said, I think the Deluge is the best groovebox ever! Criminally underrated.
@RSKT_music "Criminally underrated" love it..
thats how i imagine the universe moves...
Oh hell ya! Excellent performance my dude! Would love to see a song breakdown on this.
Ahh, probably can't do that sorry. This was recorded earlier in the year, and once it was done I unpacked everything without recording the audio tracks into the Deluge. I'll try and remember to do that in the future haha
@@RSKT_music oh I understand. Soon as you unpatch that shits gone for good! But it’s kind of freeing in that too!
@oaklandghosts0510 it definately is!
Very good music! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
That’s one thunderous, trouser shaking kick-drum!!:) Nice
Thanks man, it's from my free sample pack ;)
Wow man, you're BACK!! Good to see and hear your music again! This is an awesome track and I especially love how nice Deluge and AE are playing together.
@@The5thVolt thanks man! This is an old track from the 2osc/d vid, so I'm not back quite yet, but I still felt like it deserved its own video. 😊
Whoa!!

@@johntax9400 haha getting there
Just wanted to say thank you for the insane level of effort you've put into this series. Uber clear, incredibly helpful as I learn the Deluge - this video got me started arranging.
@@mylarmelodies Thankyou so much! I'm such a massive fan of yours, so that really means a lot. Also - suuuper excited to hear you got yourself a Deluge. I followed your "using a looper with modular," tutorial with the Deluge and my AE Modular rack, and it works a treat! Anwyays, I'll stop geeing out. Thanks for stopping by mate 😊
Can you fade in/out a samples head or tail? Thanks and love your videos!
@@mb9647 yes! You absolutely can. All samples have access to the same envelope controls as the synth engine 😊
@@RSKT_music cool thanks!
Thanks for the great video! Is there a workaround to split the keyboard view to two instruments? How about layering two synths and playing them simultaneously?
Thanks for watching! I'm not sure about splitting the keyboard. Unless that's implemented with the open-source firmware at some point, you might be waiting for a while though. As for playing two synths simultaneously - you apparently can with the latest firmware, using MIDI loopback I believe. I haven't experimented with this much myself, but definitely have a look through the release notes for more info, and don't forget to ask the discord if you get stuck cause the devs for it are all on there and are really helpful. :)
Thank you for putting this amazing Deluge series together. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks! Sorry there's been a bit of delay in keeping up with this. Got a bit burned out again, but I'll return to it someday :)
Great Vid. With Drum Randomizer 22Min.. how do you get back to the original sounds once randomized a few times.. cheers
@@koldimond1100 ah, nice catch! Basically it's a kit preset I made. They're all of my own samples from my Sample Pack. So I made one kit preset and then I can use the randomize feature to swap to different samples in the same folder. The way I got back to it was to just load up the default kit preset again.
I've been looking for a better work-through of live-looping on the deluge, & frankly there isn't one- this is excellent, clear, snappy, concise & thorough. I have a question, though- I want to use this live looping functionality to record multiple *takes* of an overdub, ultimately to discard one or more of them & plant the others as a comp or as multiple variants within an arrangement. so say I record a rhthym guitar part several times into adjacent audio clips... all the same length, played against pre-existing clips of percussion, bassline & so on. I end up with six new audio clips, but 1 & 4 are awful. (I'd also quite like to name the underlying audio files of them all, so I know which take is which later.) I want to delete the clips containing 1 & 4. are they gone for good when the song is saved? or are they still on the card somewhere, un-house-kept? workaround is to record the takes one after another into the same clip & cut it up afterwards, but that'll take longer & breaks the workflow; I'd have to make multiple copies of it & edit each one in turn, & that'd mean having audio running in reverse while the start is tweaked, & that's going to break a live-use paradigm I'm into. any ideas? on the housekeeping aspect, especially.
Thanks for the kind words! I think I understand your question, but I might not be able to answer it all that well. I think if you delete the audio clips they're gone (could be wrong though). I'm pretty sure if you resample something and delete the clip, it still gets saved in your resample folder, but I'm not too sure with audio clips, and I'm not too sure about saving them either. In terms of reversing the clip to remove the start though - you don't need to do that anymore. As of the Beethoven update, you can now adjust the start of audio clips in the same way you shift midi clips back and forth. It's awesome. Anyways, I hope that helps in some way. You might need to experiment with it all to find your ideal workflow.
I'm on one of the recent nightlys, not sure if it's beethoven, but I'll check that start-point thing f'sure. Ron C's live-looping tutorial isn't quite as snappy as yours, but he touches briefly on the house-keeping; the audio files are in a temp folder, but can be saved to the song folder explicitly by using the gather-audio song-save feature. what he doesn't say is if that includes ones you've discarded from an arrangement, & deleted the clips. guess I'll have to have a play with that. one reason I'm digging into the live looping is that I have a torso S4 here, & I don't trust it yet! the deluge is a good two-thrids of the audio looping functionality I'd hoped to get from the S4, & they've only just added syncing, & it's a bit unpredictable at the moment.
Ah right, I see what you're saying now. Yeah, I'm not too sure on that myself, and aren't near my Deluge right now so can check. Let me know how you go with it. If you still get stuck, definately check out the Discord server and the Facebook group. Ron is pretty active on there too and will usually try to help out :)
My brain hurts but in a good way. I have no idea how you can figure all of this out. I can't keep up with this machine but in a good way. Very well done as usual!! Thank you sincerely.
@@evanbates1212 thanks so much! I'm struggling to keep up with it myself lately
Awesome vid! The community firmware is one of the best things to ever happen to the "groovebox" community. I'm still making my way through the community firmware as I'm a bit late to the party so this video is super helpful to kind of catalog all the features in my head haha.
Thsnks! I'm a little behind in my updates lately. Gotta get stuck back into more Deluge content I think.
Eventually, the deluge and polyend play will be 100% the same device
I want to add my thank you for taking the time to make this serie. Those videos are extremely valuable. I really hope you will find the time and motivation to do the workflow serie, even if it was behind a Patreon subscription I would definitely go for it.
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the kind words, I'm always happy to. Hear people enjoyed this series! :)
Hi RSKT, Any advice on why when I'm on arranger view, everything's displayed in White and I get no sound whatsoever ? Cheers
Hey hey! Thanks for watching. White clips are unique to the arranger view, and represent a new clip made solely to happen in that spot. When you make one, they wont have any notes inside of them. So lets say you have a blue clip, this will be pulling from a clip you made in song view. But lets say you wanted to make a fill, or a unique instance of that instrument doing something before moving back to the loops you've already made. Well, you would use a white clip for just that. A quick instance of something unique. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for your Quick answer. I've made arrangements in the past using the arranger view and it use to work as intended with color clips. Actually I've used it OK on the song I'm working on right now before it behaved the way I've described in my main message. All and nothing but white clips. Cheers
@@FrancoisRougepullon oh, that's so weird. So you're getting nothing but white clips? Even when you hold down on the clip and turn the select knob? If you're still having issues, definately post it to the Facebook group or the Discord server. Those guys are usually pretty quick and answering bug reports.
