I agree with you about the Sony camera and other lower end 4K camcorders….I ended up with a Canon G40 camcorder that is only a 1080p…I found for RUclips that’s all you need. You just can’t crop as much in post. The footage is really cool and I paid under $300 used. It shot better footage than the Sony 4K I had. Keep up the good work! Let us all know what camera you end up with. I’m looking also.
@@timeintheoutdoors I stepped up but time lol. I went with a SONY A6700 with a SONY 18-200 power zoom lens. Amazing quality and really good low light performance. It was an expensive investment and added some weight to my setup but the pros outweigh the cons!
@ wow that is a massive investment from what you were shooting. Hope it works out and is what you want. That’s out of my budget for now. How is it for one handed filming options? That is one reason I like the camcorders, I can put a wired remote on them for easy one handed use.
@@timeintheoutdoors I purchased a Sony Bluetooth remote for mine that is awesome! The footage is unbelievably better, although it should be for the price 😂
My issue is always keeping my feet warm.
@@western.pa.fishing Arctic Shield boot covers!
I liked the older optifade pattern better. They're over 10 years old, and I wish Sitka would bring that pattern back....
A lot of people are saying the new option cover pattern is close to the ground forest pattern with all of the greens. I don’t know if that’s the one you are referencing but give it a look!
@EasternWild I think it is the forest pattern. A few years ago, I bought the Tmiberline mid-weight coat and pants in open country. It's good for still hunting and stalking, but not in a treestand. I have some of the new optifade camo, too. It works well, especially above 20 feet. IMHO, the older optifade forest pattern was more versatile. Plus, it was wool on the outside, and as warm as toast in zero degree weather. It always happens! When a company makes something good, they discontinue it......
@@paulpryor850 I 100% agree! They also discontinued the Celsius mid and that was one of their best pieces
@EasternWild Yep! The corporate motto is to build it cheap and price gouge the hell out of customers. I didn't mind forking over $700.00 14 years ago for the original optifade Fanatic jacket. Or paying a bunch of money for a Woolrich hunting suit. Because they last! My nineteen year old nephew wore my first Woolrich hunting suit. He'll be able to pass it down to his kids. They just don't make stuff like they used to.
Nice shot buddy! That thing was leaking!
@@jricks31 thanks! Yea he was, easy track 😂

Great video, man. You mentioned you run a bino chest harness. Do you run that bino harness, a pack and the saddle yoke at the same time? Is it doable/comfortable? I like the idea if the yoke straps but this was a dilemma i was thinking on, having that much strapping the shoulders..
@@dangorghuber2362 yes, I run them all at the same time. I don’t know how people saddle hunt without the yolk system “suspenders”. It’s made my life much better while both ascending the tree and also getting dressed at hunting height. I always felt like my saddle was falling off of me while ascending the tree with platforms and sticks hanging from the saddle. The bino harness was another major improvement. I have everything I need at my finger tips. It stores my binos, rangefinder, cell phone, knife, and milkweed pouch. I ascend the tree with my pack on, but hang it at hunting height. None of it gets in the way of one another in my opinion.
@EasternWild ok great to hear! I was hoping you'd have a favorable opinion on it. So in order of application to your body, you run the yoke strap, then bino harness, then pack I assume?
@@dangorghuber2362 Exactly! Does not interfere what so ever.

Great set up, Just curious if you think the fanatic pack would be able to carry the sticks and platform
@@stevew3718 I’m not super familiar with the fanatic pack. I know it’s a buckle less design made to be super quiet. I’m not sure if you could get the front straps tight enough. I would tend to think that the tool bucket would be a better option personally.

@@dreamacresequine5257 really? I haven’t experienced that. You are talking about the back strap and not the suspenders, right?
i like to clip my rope to the bottom of my bow. especially when the leaves start falling, less of a mess on your fletchings and won’t get mud or dirt in your nocks
@@Mooqey good idea! 🤘🏻
I am deciding on regular or xl, same saddle. 6”2, 220, 36-38 waist. Per specs, regular appears to be the way to go, however, I have read that the xl may be beneficial for hip pinch and comfort. Unfortunately, I can not find a retailer to try both sizes. Considering your experience with you xl, what are your thoughts? Great informative video btw. Greatly appreciated. Ep
@@EP-xo9ed I think you’re teetering between sizes. The XL does have more fabric and a larger pleat so it feels really comfy. I didn’t try a regular, but the rep at Tethrd said since I was so close to XL (I’m a 38 waist as well) to just go that route and enjoy the benefits of the larger pleat. I’m glad I did, it’s really comfortable. No regrets here! Thanks for checking out the channel 🤙🏻

We should do some hunting together sometime. We stalk hunt here in south AL but dog hunting is what we do best. Let’s work something out!!!!

@@Ferrari_M5 you’re very welcome! I hope it helps 🤙🏻
Where do you keep your saddle?
@@mikecupp8546 I wear it in 🤙🏻
Great video. I just got the fanatic jacket and bibs with the exact same philosophy in mind as you. I hate being cold and I also hate wearing a bunch of layers. By the time you layer 3 or 4 layers under that stratus you are at the same level of bulk and weight as the fanatic and less comfortable, and will sweat walking in even if you pack the bibs and jacket it. I can wear nearly nothing on my walk in then throw the fanatic on and be good to go.
@@justingillentine2015 EXACTLY!!! 💯 I do wish Sitka had an “in between” set though. I think it would fly off the shelves for us guys in milder winter temps 🤷🏻♂️ Thx for checking out the channel 🤙🏻
Rage in the shoulder is the problem. Not trying to debate but if you’re gonna hug that shoulder you need something that’s gonna work on a shoulder. Also where is the food plot? I just seen weeds in the woods and a bait pile. What’s planted there?
When editing I noticed he kept saying food plot, he was misspoken lol. I agree with you, fixed blades are the best, but I’m a sucker for mechanicals too. I am curious as to how the new Beast broadhead would perform though...
Hate that for you buddy but that’s bow hunting. I lost a big one this year too
Sucks man, he's still after it though! He's chasing a couple studs on the deer lease that we're hoping he can connect with! Thanks for checking out the channel!
Does the ultralock come with lineman and tether ropes? Thanks
@@timcurtin8553 it does not, but I will post a link below that takes you to the webpage to purchase those items as well! tethrd.com/collections/ropes-connections
This is dope, but someone please total out how much all this comes out to. It’s gotta be pushing 10 grand with bow, and all the equipment he uses in one singular hunt
I just sold off the camera gear in this video and upgraded to a higher end mirrorless. After that, I’d say you’re not far off. I’m in a position in my life now though to where I can do this. You don’t have to spend that kind of coin to get in the woods and enjoy yourself. I’m glad you checked out the channel and wish you the best if you’re venturing into the woods this season! 🤙🏻
I have a CVA Optima V2 50 cal Long Range ml. Topped with a Leupold Ultimate Slam 3x9x40mm muzzle loader scope. I have several TC Venture rifles. My truck gun 204 ruger predator model. My wife hunts with a 280 rem with brake. She's shooting Berger 140 gr VLD. I just bought a new Browning rifle. A Xbolt Speed Long Range 280AI. I topped it with a Leupold VX6 HD 4x24x52mm TMOA reticle. Shooting a Berger 168gr Classic Hunter bullet. Bought this setup to take on a spring bear hunt. In Idaho or Montana hopefully.
@@ozark_trapper man, that’s awesome! If I weren’t shooting Vortex I’d definitely have my weapons topped with Leupold. I went back and forth after switching from Nikon as they phased themselves out of the market. My big deciding factor was just how much Vortex supports military and first responders. You’ll love That speed. I almost chose it, but decided to stick with the classic stainless and black 🤙🏻
You’re on some good drugs if you think $30 worth of materials is worth $500. GTFO. Hunting is very simple and been done effectively since the beginning of man
Are you shooting at 50 yards
@@trellbradley4506 yes, 50 yards for a 100 yard zero
@@EasternWild 10-4 I’m starting to do the same here in South Carolina
It’s the easiest way man. You can look up a ballistics chart for your ammo and see how low you need to zero at 50 for a 100 zero
Great video, thank you. Are you able to stand upright on this platform? Looks like it doesn't have enough depth
@@davidknab4273 you’re very welcome! yes, I can stand perfectly fine on this platform. It has enough room for me to stand up straight and maneuver around to face away from the tree if I choose to do so!
I been using a 6x10 platform for 1.5 years and I can stand on mine. I’m here to look for an upgrade tho. V or CFX can’t decide
@mavrickkolpien2938 V is angled, CFX is not. CFX is also a touch lighter and the carbon won’t transfer the cold to your feet like the metal on the V does. Thx for checking out the channel 🤙🏻
@@EasternWild did not think about the cold. Thanks for the speedy response
@@EasternWild what would you say about my concern about the longevity of carbon fiber used as something that holds your weight 90% of your hunting time as compared to sticks holding your weight as you climb?
The real booger is pants. Takes a little bit of extra work

The folks saying it’s a gimmick are clueless. It’s definitely quality and performs due to the textile tech put into it. I think the hate is based on prices that arguably got set to match the brand popularity and allure versus just the quality. I think there is still tons of people who are willing to pay for quality. Sitka’s prices seem to be about 10-20% higher than that level however. Kinda like the Gucci with Louis Vuitton of hunting wear. With prices on everything these days however, it doesn’t look quite that bad anymore. All that aside, great video!
☝🏻💯💯💯
CRAZY to compare Sitka to LV or Gucci, two companies that are also gimmicks. Idc who you are or how much money you make, $1,000 for a jacket and pants is just not worth it. They mark their stuff up to high heaven and fools like you line up to purchase it. Do you realize their “pro” members get 40% off MSRP? What does that say about the markup on these items? Sitka, whether quality or not, is for bougie hunters- indisputable by your own comparison to LV/Gucci.
@@mattjtx93 I’m a “PRO” due to being an ARMY veteran. If not for that, I probably wouldn’t buy it. With that said, it is worth it if you can swing it. I know it’s a hype and also a fad, but trust me. I’m super comfortable now without having to layer for days lol. The Fanantic with minimal layering is where it at 🤘🏻
@@mattjtx93 You’re saying just what I did… that they’re charging/marking up for the name and allure/popularity. So no, it’s not crazy to compare them to the brands I mentioned. The only difference between my comment and yours is that I did say Sitka is quality stuff. Being high quality and ridiculously over priced can both be true. Perhaps you’re the fool…

@@blessedvetoutdoors thank you!
Good video brother! In regards to the angle the steeper the front angle the more its going to cause you to lean far back forcing your legs to extend which then cuts blood flow and will tire you out faster. A less aggressive more subtle angle is going to allow your heels to dip more naturally which will allow you some bend in your knees taking the stress off the legs. In short its more ergonomic! Stand up job once again!
Thx a bunch brother! And also thx for the clarification! It’s definitely the most comfortable platform I’ve used, period 🤙🏻
I don’t know
@CharlesWhite-m8m what don’t you know?
Why are you so excited about the Tethrd platform? What features will it have that the Cruzer platform doesn't have?
I did a test and review on it yesterday. That video posts today at 5 detailing my thoughts on it. I have all tethrd gear except my platform. I never could get away with using the regular predator because of the front edge digging into my feet, I also have bad plantar fasciitis. Now that Tethrd has released the Predator V it allowed me to match the rest of my gear. And, I'll say this. I don't really know how to explain it, but the lesser angle on the Predator V is much comfier on my feet and seems to conform better to my arches. I don't know if everyone will have the same outlook, but it's definitely a more comfortable platform in my opinion. With that said, Cruzr has been my go to up until this point. That's a stellar platform as well!
Thanks for your videos. I'm new to saddle hunting and I've found your videos to be very helpful and informative. Keep doing what you are doing. Thanks
