Salkantay Trek (Part 2): A Footpath to Machu Picchu
Here in part 2, we continue our solo trek along the Salkantay Trail, leaving the high alpine of the Andes for the green of the cloud forest while passing Inca ruins along the way. We finish the trek in the most famous of Inca ruins: Machu Picchu.

Salkantay Trek (Part 1): A Footpath to Machu Picchu
Просмотров 8104 года назад
Starting in Mollepata, Peru, the 50-ish mile Salkantay Trail winds its way up Andean passes, through cloud forests and river gorges, and ultimately leads trekkers to the wondrous Machu Picchu. Join me in part one of my solo trek to Machu Picchu, where we will hike to Humantay Lake and then over the crux of the trek, Salkantay Pass. 1½ Minutes at Griffith Observatory
Просмотров 1264 года назад
Los Angeles' Griffith Observatory, located in beautiful Griffith Park just north of Hollywood, is arguably the most iconic observatory in the world. With a combination of charming architecture and brilliant views, it's hard not to see how Griffith has cemented itself as an LA icon. Take a quick one-and-a-half minute walk around the observatory and see what I mean for yourself. (All footage was ...
Hopewell Rocks Park: Witness the Bay of Fundy's Extreme Tide
Просмотров 66 тыс.4 года назад
Located along the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada, Hopewell Rocks Park is both a geological and tidal wonder. Check out nature's sculpture gallery in the form of "flowerpot" rocks while waiting for the most unique phenomenon in the Bay of Fundy: tides, extreme tides. The high tide/low tide differential can occasionally be as high as 53.5 feet (16.3 meters). So head on over, buy your ticke...
The Sonorous Rocks of Ringing Rocks County Park
Просмотров 2 тыс.5 лет назад
Located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Ringing Rocks County Park contains an interesting phenomenon: rocks that ring! Found in only a handful of locations around the world, these naturally occurring sonorous rocks are interesting and certainly worth checking out if you are nearby. Of course, don't forget to bring your hammer!
Cherry Springs State Park: Pennsylvania's International Dark Sky Park

Here is what I saw on my June trip to Cherry Springs State Park, located in Potter County, PA. Due to its relatively high elevation (2,300 ft.) and isolated location, Cherry Springs is a fantastic place to see the shadow of our Milky Way galaxy, as well as other constellations and planets. Be sure to check the weather and stargazing forecasts before you visit though! Music: "Hedgeliner"-Blue Do...
El Yunque National Forest: A Day in America's Only Tropical National Forest

Best time to visit Cape Breton is during the fall when it's full of colour. Every curve of the road presents an incredible view. Follow the drive with a trip to the Fortress of Louisburg on the extreme east coast, it's Amazing! Don't miss the Alexander Graham Bell Museum in Baddeck. The Cape is a wonderful place to vacation.

The pure bright glitter of our milkyway was astounding there. I am an astrophotographer. Easily the brightest views I have ever seen....like one could reach up and touch the stars.... It is simply unforgettable.

Thx for great video. How many Maga Americans are swept away by the tide each summer? "Oh, that tide table doesn't apply to us." (BTW, Reaganite Repub here.) Hoping that Canadians do some heavy advertising to Fla and Tx.

Liked #13, oh wow! One of the most incredible sires of the world Macchu Picchu! Nice thorough history along your walk paths towards it. Nice to see that trekked it instead of the train ride. Nice to see that there is more to offer than Macchu Picchu. One day, I must do this trekking, too. Sorry, I have not been in touch for sometime! Was away to Europe for 2 1/2 months. I'll be in touch 😎👍

I am somewhat of an amateur "expert" on Cherry Spring. :-) Brought my kids there in May 2010. Didn't see much of the Milky Way because it was May. Went back August 2015 with the family but this time there was a full moon. Again, didn't see much. My family didn't want to go back a third time so I went with my dog for the 5 hour drive from NJ in November 2022. Made sure it was a new moon and the weather was clear. It was beautiful. Never saw so many stars in the sky. You can see the haze of the Milky Way. It was a cold night in November but it was well worth it.

It got to the point it was worth the trip from Pittsburgh just to sit on a mountain in the snow all nite and watch the magnificent sky, then head home in the morning catching a Mickey D’s big breakfast along the way. Life was good! The heck with the hunt. Loved those days!

We were warned, planning a geo day on the beach, to start to hang around the staircase well before the tide was due. If we missed the tide, we were to find the highest rock we could and get comfortable - it was going to take a while, like 10 hours.
