It's Never Too Late to Turn Your Life Around (ft. Brandon Novak)
@TheBrandonNovak showed all the signs of becoming a highly successful, rebellious young man. He was a professional skateboarder in his early teens, rubbing elbows with the likes of Bucky Lasek and Tony Hawk. In his late teens and twenties, he was a regular on world-famous TV shows like Viva La Bam and Jackass.
But drugs and alcohol were always lurking in the shadows for Novak, and he soon fell head-first into the dark trap of his addictions. He endured bouts of homelessness, committed every petty crime you could imagine, and even resorted to sex work to feed his addictions.
The stats would suggest Brandon Novak shouldn’t be sober right now. He probably shouldn’t even be alive. But not onl...

Timeless Military Lessons You Won’t Find in Civilian Life
Thanks for this
Alcoholism runs in my family. I'm incredibly grateful I didn't catch that bug, but it too destroyed my life from a very early age.
Very impressive, wow. What a crazy story
Mark - so awesome you brought him on to share his story. Just goes to show that it's never too late to change and improve yourself, amazing stuff. Much love and keep up all the good work <3
I’m happy for you Brandon. Thank you Mark and Drew for sharing 🩷
Wow I really enjoyed this chapter !!
Hearing about Bam Margara here. It's interesting now that Novac is sober and living a great inspirational life. Whereas Bam in the last few years. I have been hearing sad things about due to this addiction disease
I'm really proud of Brandon's transformation. I never thought he'd make such an impressive comeback
Reference was made to a book, "The Art of Taking Action". There are several books with this title, all seeming to cover the topic of taking a Zen approach to action and time. The authors of the respective books that I have found are Krech, Bungay and Pham. Please advise as to which one it was that was mentioned in the podcast. Thank you.
My expert deployment of the "strategic underachievment" of chores causes my wife to be more stressed...but I feel great...
Thank you so much
Was this too esoteric? How about some practical pragmatic examples of how to apply these principles you guys discussed?
Great episode, Mark. I've Oliver's book playing on a loop in audible. Apparently I need frequent reminders that my lifetime here is limited, so get just tf on with it.
This is good! I heard a nice productivity tip yesterday... "launch when you're 70% ready."
Great conversation ❤
The timing on this one was good for me. I have lost many years of my life sleeping due to various illnesses and injuries, I've had to figure out which dreams and goals to prioritise, although even those aren't certain to be possible.
Wow. This is my favorite episode yet. Last year I learned from Marc that I am Happiness. Now I've learned I am Time. Enlightening stuff. If you're taking requests, I've been grieving like a motherfucker after the past five years... Author David Kessler would make a great guest. His books and podcasts on grieving have helped me a lot.

The year 2022 is 2 YEARS ago !
Please invite Yoval Noah Harari
What an excellent idea❤
@@mindmayhem1982 yup☺️
Great conversation
has it already been released?
Yes, probably has to do with his recent change of channel
This is his new, separate RUclips channel just for the podcast
Invite Robert Green 💚
Yes
If Mark invites Robert Greene, that will be the best Fucking podcast EVER!!! ❤❤❤
gonna be hell of a debate since i think their approach to life is literal opposites
@@dape5576 It really isn't if you know Greene beyond his books (particularly his early ones).
Can't stand Greene - awful man. Will not watch that show !

Hey Mark. I love ur shit but not the short one man. Come on. I like one hour of this kind of shit😂😂please upload a full story
The full podcast has already been uploaded. He’s linked to it. He’s just transitioning all of his podcast content to this separate channel now.
Sounds like you just quit
Yes, it's okay to quit and even to not quit. Only you know what is the right thing to do about your life at a given moment in time. You don't need anyone's approval to do that, not even Mark Manson's.
'Lapse' is not the same as 'relapse'.
You’re not a bad person because you messed up, you’re just a person who messed up badly. Reminder to be kinder to yourself 😊
Thank you for the reminder of the shifts of growth from our familiar and unhealthy habits to get to our unfamiliar and healthy habits!
Two of my favourite authors! Love it ❤
I like Mark Manson, Sadia Khan and Orion Taraban. I feel like they are all on the same page
I appreciate the clips as they are better to digest for me. Ur content is so full of wisdom and big learnings, plus very fast talking (im no native speaker) that im overwhelmed because I want to absorb all the learnings that I can take from ur content. Absolutely amazing since u started ur channel I cancelled so much other channels bevause my time is limited and I prioritize ur content absolutely on top. This clip especially helped me appreciate my longtime relationship with the most amazing wife more and more. Thanks for ur work mark! Please never stop ❤
Mark and Drew, you both offended me when you said that you are both old in this video! But I still subscribed. :) I am a few years older than you both by age, but I am stunned by your emotional maturity. You both gave me lots of hope for Millennials and Gen Zs. I keep telling my friends to listen to this podcast - These videos are way better than a lot of therapy and psychology teachings. Note that I am nerdy, I read a lot of nonfiction and research work, and I am a researcher and training professionals by profession. Still, you both helped me be even more blunt, and just enjoy learnings from failures instead of beating myself up for making mistakes here and there.

The idea that you can’t measure productivity of knowledge work is nonsense. That’s just a sign that you aren’t planning. As soon as you break down your project into milestones with dependencies and represent them as a diagram, progress and productivity becomes evident. The problem is none of the commercially available tools help you do this. The fact that tools to do the right thing don’t exist isn’t evidence that the right thing can’t be done. Cal’s entire thesis is about this topic is a copout.
I was thinking more about this today & this is the second time I've heard the closing the relationship chasing tab in your brain mentioned. I've got that same tab opened. There's no closure in life until you have that partner to go through life with, no matter how much I try to focus on other areas of life, it just appears to be a very important aspect of life that needs closure & until it gets closure, it takes attention away from things that are important. Everything suffers, including being a good mum because in the back of my mind & my kids keep asking, for a 'Dad'. They want a Dad & it's such a paralysing space to be in, because I want to give my kids a Dad & I want somebody I can be close to, love & support & receive the same in kind, but it's really hard. I do think at least this year I have learned that on top of conscientious & Integrity in a partner, proper communication & non conflict avoidant is now non-negotiable in a partner. I really like direct but private communication & somebody who will be straightforward about their needs, wants & expectations & be receptive to my own...
So much wisdom in so little time!!! Amazing man!!! Thanks a lot for that! Exactly what I needed to stay on track ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!🫶
Eye-opening in many ways Naming my mental state as "lost" explains a lot, but it will take time to sort things out
The RAM analogy is so good
That is high-quality freedom. That RAM analogy is very accurate
Could you either move clips to a different channel or clearly label them as clips in the thumbnail? Love the podcast, but I watch the full episodes and it’s really confusing to have to sort through what is what.
It's for more new viewers not just old viewers
