Our 4 week European roadtrip, drone footage I took of Lake Garda and Lake Como
This is some drone footage I took of Lake Garda and Lake Como from our 4 week European roadtrip in our Vivaro Campervan that I built. We went down from our home in Glossop England to as far down as Croatia. We travelled through Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slonenia, Croatia, then back up through Italy again, Switzerland, and France, 2960 miles in total.

DIY built rigid heddle weaving loom. Works very well.

I decided to try and build a loom when my grandaughter had one bought her for a present.. I made a couple of small frame looms that were quite successful. I then got interested in building a "proper" loom and looked for plans to do that, I looked all over the net to find some free plans but couldn't find any that were useful, so I weighed up various looms and worked the dimensions out for mysel...

    The problem with direct drive motors is they don't quite have the torque of a geared hub like the befang but they are more efficient at speed and quieter too. Mind you I do like the geared motor's whine and they are quite quick off the line.

      Hi Simon, I know what you mean, the hub motors are quite a lot cheaper though, I did scrap this bike and rebuilt the electrics in a new one ( see my other bike video ) I am part way through putting a 1000w front hub as well on this one, and larger hydraulic disc breaks as well, two batteries, ( same size ) and two seperate throttles, twist and lever. will put a video up when it's finished.

I also have a Kona fire mountain Mtb with a 17" frame and 27.5 wheels which I plan to install a yose 350w rear hub and use as a daily driver. From the position of the home point indicator, It looks like you lost LoS behind a ridge (or at least the Fresnel radius was heavily obstructed), contributing to link loss

    • @tonkennah
      @tonkennah 11 месяцев назад

      Hi, I had a direct line of sight all the way ( if I was Superman :-) even when it lost signal on the ridge I think it was high enough, but I am always willing to be proved wrong, so maybe a better distance test would be to start at the top of the ridge and fly in the reverse direction ( no 400mtr ascent as well ) either way battery life would restrict to much further travel ( for a safe return) and like I said it is far enough away for me so I am happy with it at that distance. This is why I mentioned the Fresnel radius - at 1900m out you pass a ridge in close proximity to the Fresnel radius of your radio link, likely causing some further attenuation and contributing to link loss

    Hi I saw your video. Is the drone in CE or FCC? Were there lag during the flight? Thanks

    • @tonkennah
      @tonkennah Год назад

      Hi, it is in CE mode here in the UK, I didn't notice any lag and like I have said I was on 55% battery so even with a better signal I wouldn't have been able to go much further and get back safely.

    How is your experience with the goggles and the mini 3 pro ? Im contemplatng between the mini 4 pro and the avata

    • @tonkennah
      @tonkennah Год назад

      I love all of it, much prefer flying with the goggles Integra and the motion 2 controller, I can fly a lot lower now in safety than with the rc controller, they are both different drones really, Avata is more for fpv, and the mini 3 pro for more cinematic. You can get the fpv feel and look in your videos with the mini 3 pro using head tracking on the glggles. Personally I would go for the 4 pro and the Goggles Integra but it is each to their own .

    • @oFamZy
      @oFamZy Год назад

      Appreciate the response. This was my logic too just so overwhelmed with what i want and the option. The air itself is crazy too. The mini 4 pro does not have access with integrate yet but ill go with that option. Thanks @@tonkennah

    • @tonkennah
      @tonkennah Год назад

      I didn't realise it didn't have compatability with the mini 4 pro, seems like a daft situation , maybe a different control frequency ? they might want us to buy a different set of goggles for every drone 🙂@@oFamZy

    Strange I’ve seen the mini 3 pro reach 6km easy on several range tests. The only limitation was the battery and the drone needing enough charge to return home safely?.

    • @tonkennah
      @tonkennah Год назад

      Same here, with my normal controller, no goggles and a direct line of sight I only got 1.4 miles, to be honest, I was on 55% battery when it lost the signal and it was against the wind coming back so I was getting ready to turn back anyway. As you say the battery is the limiting factor as well. So over all I am happy with 1.6 miles, still a bit scary when you have 700 quids worth of drone all the way up there on the moors !!

    • @tonkennah

      I got 1.4 miles max with the rc controller, and 1.6 miles max with goggles integra. Both with direct line of sight with no obstacles.

      I am ok with the 1080p, I usually have the mini on 2k to edit easier, would like a firmware update though to use the DJI RC as an option ( officially ) .

    It looks fair nippy in this vid ,I pick mine up next week, I hope I've done the right thing ,I've seen vids saying it's only good in town,too slow etc, but I want to in the countryside

    • @tonkennah

      Hi Steve, tou can probably tell I live in a very hilly area of the country, to be honest that is the reason I wanted something with a bit more power ( hence buying the HONDA XL250 MOTOSPORT you can see in my other video ) To be honest I would have kept it if I lived in a less hilly area, and even thought about upgrading it with a bigger bore upgrade but the power increase didn't seem like it was worth the effort, someone might say the opposite if they have done it. Long and the short of it they are great fun nipping in and out of traffic never having to think if you're in the right gear ( I don't mean Parka and Doc Martins 🙂) you will have a blast on it honestly.
