The plug does not look like the standard extension cord does it require a special adaptor
Cute video! Thanks for sharing. Going soon.
Bro that did that test on the buddy heater is wrong, please don’t recommend, I had a scary experience with the Buddy Heater. I was in a larger RV (toy hauler) which has high ceilings, and ran it all night with windows cracked open even, I woke up with a splitting headache & was disorientated, and I never get headaches. After research I came to find that it sucked out most of the oxygen and could have been carbon monoxide poisoned, cracked windows is the only thing that saved me, and I have high ceilings I can only imagine worse with lower ceilings.. the CO sensor did not shut it off. Very dangerous. The reason it didn’t effect you the same is because a tent has some breathability but I wouldn’t trust it and I camp cold a lot. I recommend using a propane heater that go’s outside, and feeds just the heat in with a pipe, much safer
What fuse is connected to the water pump? None of them are labeled "Water Pump". My water pump isn't even making a sound. There is water in the tank and I have the switch turned on.
I'm going to this park soon. Thanks. Very nice video editing and tour! Subscribed.
Nice job
Growing up in Meridian this was our getaway!
Hey Greetings from Katy! Loved your video today. I had no idea Walmart is selling the heaters like the buddy heater. I’m going to check those out when we go to Walmart next!
Isn't it illegal to fly a drone in Texas State parks?
youre an hour away from me. greetings from Cypress
Not to make you an Unhappy Camper but there are a lot of problems here. 1. Please don’t use those cords on trees, those will hurt trees. Straps are a better option. Here in Texas state parks “require” two inch straps but I’ve never been checked. 2. I went to the manufacturers website for specs and that hammock is listed as 115 inches long. I’m afraid that a 9 foot hammock is a lounging hammock and not a camping hammock. 3. To properly sleep in a hammock (and get those benefits to your back), you don’t lay in a hammock lengthwise, AKA “the banana”. You lay on a diagonal. This requires a properly sized and setup hammock. I don’t know your exact height but you’re definitely taller than me and the general rule of thumb for camping hammock lengths is to start around twice your height. Just from eyeballing I would say you have to be at least six feet tall so there is a good chance that you would need to be in a 12 foot hammock but regardless I think nothing under 11 feet for you. 4. You did pretty good with the Onetigris, I have one of those for loaner hammocks. 5. Proper hammock hanging is done at a 30 degree angle because as you approach zero (straight across) the forces you apply to the trees multiply. Your hang angle looked pretty good. A quick way to sloppily check your 30 degree hang is to make finger guns. The angle between the top of your thumb to the end of your index finger is about 30. 6. A good camping hammock will have a center ridgeline that maintains the proper hammock sag regardless of strap angle. To lay on the diagonal means your head is on the left or right of that ridgeline with your feet on the opposite side (to help you visualize). Off the top of my head 550 cord is the weight rating. When a hammock is advertised to support 400 to 500 pounds it is always made from basically taffeta nylon and are all more or less the same. Kammok, ENO, Wise Owl, etc. Good camping hammocks from cottage vendors are usually made from ripstop nylon and to get the weight rating you need you would probably need a double layer ripstop. If you want a good 11 or 12 foot hammock on a budget, try out a Onewind from their website or Amazon, all three of my loaners are from them. If you want to learn a lot more join us on hammock forums dot net and look up Shug Emery’s videos here on RUclips. Or if you find yourself in the DFW area and want to go play with a lot of different hammock camping setups just holler. Hope you take this in the helpful spirit it was intended, I don’t want you to have a bad time from the wrong gear.
First of all buying tents at Walmart is no good it will say in small print on the instructions must use in perfect weather do not use stormy or rainy weather tent or not 100% waterproof I had made a mistake once by buying a Walmart before I went camping a big storm has came in everything inside the tent, gotten wet and several hundred dollars worth of electronics has gotten wet and runt for starters my cell phone I will go to Bass Pro shop and will buy my tent at Walmart again
This is an amazing video! Thank you for taking the time to make it!
Thank you so much for the kind words
Truck camp to sleep off the ground and stay warm.
I would like to do that in the future
Wonderful Thank You For Video. Glad to see Walmart Is Doing Great Upgrade On Merchandise❤❤Im Going Back To Walmart Thank You❤
Nice review of this hammock
Thank you
Thanks so much for sharing this😊
My pleasure. Are you headed there for a camping trip?
I'm in California and pop up camping. My parents live in Conroe and my dad works at the Walmart. Great video
What a coincidence. That's pretty cool.
What kind of pop-up camper do you have? Do you like it?
Hey, this popped up in my feed! I I thought you were going to sunset this channel and focus on your RV life one. It was going shopping with David, without the impulse buying. Safe Travels Mullens Family!!
I was hoping this one could keep making us a few bucks a month. Which I realize I need to casually add some stuff. But, they let me know my hours have dropped so I may have to add some extra.
@@TexasFamilyCamping ah.👍
Bastrop!!!! I miss being in TX. So when was the last time you visited this campground? You mentioned you planned on continuing to visit it. Safe travels Mullens Fam!!!
I wish I could say we've been back. Our journey has expanded so much it's tough to get back there. Some day we will get back to our journey of exploring all of Texas.
@@TexasFamilyCamping I understand, so many amazing places to see. Take care!
Glad you got to use your Disney cup.
That's my daily coffee cup now.
I'll have to try. I love saving money. 😁😁
It's decent, not the best, but decent
Great video
Thank you
Don’t bother with the dry ice.
Thanks for that tip
Great tips.👍👍👍 BTW, I didnt notice your shirt until you pointed it out 😉 P.s, if you get a propane hose fuel filter, it will keep your heater from getting gummed up with the chemicals inside the hose.
The filter isn't necessary when you use an official Mr Heater hose. Mr Heater doesn't use typical oils in their hoses like the other brands and per their official documentation, a filter isn't needed with their hoses. But highly recommended when using non-official hoses. Now it's also recommended to replace the Mr Heater hose more often, as those oils in hoses help with aging. So the official hoses will dry rot much faster. But, I can honestly say, I'm at about 4 years now and the same hose is still doing great, and no gummed up issues.
@TexasFamilyCamping Actually I had thought about that and was going to skip buying the filter, and get the right hose. Thank you 😊
Good stuff
Thank you.
Can a Cabela's Outdoorsman Series 5,000W/4,000W RV-Ready Portable Generator push any type of portable air conditioner?? We like to camp off grid at lakes that have camp where ever you want. No electric no restrooms.
I would think so. I could handle an AC like this with 3500 watt generator. Hopefully you have an inverter generator, or that's going to be loud. And don't forget the 12 gauge extension cord. 16 gauge is garbage when handling these AC's
Outstanding video! Great overview of what to expect at the park. We are planning on doing some tent camping over a weekend this year. Thanks!
Oh I'm jealous, that sounds like fun. We really loved camping at Brazos Ben state park.
@@TexasFamilyCamping We are looking forward to it. The kids are really excited about sleeping under the stars. We are doing a tent, so this will be an adventure for all of us.
i stayed in the milton and crestview rest areas on to eastbound side a couple of times, they beat the rest areas in ga. all the way around. ive also stay at a rest area on i75 just south of ocala sb side, it was real nice too. beautiful rest areas
Florida does a great job with their rest areas.
Great videos. Thank you for making me fall in love in the state parks here in Texas. We have an RV and we always RV beyond Texas. That will change next year. We camp in Pedernales Falls State Park last weekend and it was breathtaking.
That is like the best Christmas present anyone could ever give me the comment that you just stated. I have always loved the Texas State Parks and I've wanted to share that with others and help them know just how great they are so thank you so much for your comment. Happy New Year's

Hey Kenny, how is Gonzales? Is your dad still flying?
Hi! Thank you so much for making this video! It was very helpful. Would you mind posting the link to your therm-a-rest z please?
Here is the Therm-a-rest Z that I use. amzn.to/47jaRev
That was a perfect explanation. I also enjoy the act of getting warm.
I'm glad someone else understands that explanation. Thanks for confirming that.
Thank you so much! Awesome never knew I could buy the 20 lbs connect hose!
It really makes winter camping so much better
Heat water steam is a form of heat
Excellent video, however Mr heater sells and highly recommends that you use the inline filter when using a hose and remote tank. Reason being that the hose interior breaks down and debris will ruin your heater.
Per Mr. Heaters official documentation, the filter is only needed if using a hose of a different brand as they are made with oils that leach out and get into the heater. Mr Heater brand hoses do not use that oil in the production of the hose. However a replacement hose will need to be purchased more often because of the lack of those oils.
I'm diabetic and canadian, so I'm gonna use this advise indoors in the winter haha!
Terrific. Try to get the propane tank outside if you are using the big tank.
Canadian here. Had to tune in, to hear about that nasty Texas cold.
I know it pails in comparison, but it's still cold enough for thermal socks and Buddy heaters
41° isn't even worth bothering sparking up a heater where I live if you have a good sleeping bag system. I'm guessing you are down in Texas or some place that has no practical clue about deep cold. I live in northern Alberta, Canada and camp even in winter - Canadian winter - at -30°! With all that my-winter-is-colder-than-your-winter stuff out of the way, hypothermia is a risk even at +50°F if you are damp/wet and the wind comes up like on high country hikes. Fog, dew or light rain can be a real risk, but so can propane heaters like the "Buddy Heater" style heaters. When propane is burned, water vapour is created. There is enough vapour to make your clothing and bedding damp enough to not only make you miserable, but will increase the risk for hypothermia. Just thought I'd put that caution out there... I was nearly a fatality from hypothermia courtesy of my ignorance/inexperience as a young fella. Hypothermia is a sneaky thing and shivering is just the beginning; irrational thoughts and actions, listlessness and uncoordination, limbs heavy like lead are just a few signs. God bless and play safe from an Albertan neighbour.
I would totally try camping at -30, BUT the rest of my family would not. The moisture from the burning propane can be felt on the tent itself, so we move in a bit to avoid touching the walls to stay dry.
Wtf is the background muzak for? This is not entrrtainment!
Thanks for the criticism. I like music. If you do not there is no contract requiring you to keep watching. Have a blessed week.
@@TexasFamilyCamping no bad feelings, I love you too. It is an esthetic question. Form and content = take away. Your channel is great.
Using propane inside a tent, never use it while asleep, they have found entire families dead from propane heat...dont get me wrong ive used propane catylitic heaters and even candles to stay warm before, but to say it's 100% safe, well it's not
The beauty of the Buddy heater is that it dies if the oxygen level gets too low. It was designed to die at a higher level than what humans need. So if the heater uses up too much oxygen it shuts off before you die. This is why you need to have the windows on the tent ventes at least 18 inches to allow a continuous draw of fresh oxygen. I don't like being so hot so we had every window vented about 18 inches.
Why don't hikers realize that they can take eggs and bacon on their hikes? Rub some mineral oil on a grocery store egg and it can last 6 months on the shelf and your pack is the same as a shelf, dummy. Shelf stable bacon is good for at least 6 months, who goes on 7 month hikes? Outdoor folks be stupid, most of the time, IMO. I live in the sane part of the US, ie, the Midwest, so maybe I don't understand! Educate me!
Seems like you are having an argument with someone other than me. I'm just showing how I like to prep eggs before a weekend camping trip.
Friend, I want to apologize to you, I was passing time with my old friends Jim Beam and Jack Daniel when I made that comment and was an ass, and I'm sorry. Please accept my apology. I think I WAS projecting some stuff onto you and I'm grateful that your rebuke was as kind as it was. Again, I ask for your forgiveness. Peace between us from here on out, I hope.@@TexasFamilyCamping
สวยมาก 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I stopped last night just before midnight in Waco, TX. I got much needed gas then asked an employee if it was okay to park overnight as I was falling asleep on the road. The young man informed me Quick Trio policy is no overnight parking. I told him my predicament. I told him I was surprised as all other QuickTrips have said yes and will tell you they prefer their customers pull in and sleep keeping them and others safe. This young man repeated his stance when I told him I was asking to be courteous instead of just parking but I did see a class C, a van and 2 cars overnighting in the parking lot. At this he started speaking louder, which was rather embarrassing, stating the policy again and that if I did he wouldn’t call the cops on me but couldn’t guarantee the next shift. I asked him even if it is a truck stop one like this store? He said it is for trucks only no other vehicles. I told him okay thank you. I will see how far further down the road I could go. This store is at S New Road and I-35 access on the southbound side.
Thank you for sharing this. It can be tough for a big company to share their corporate policy with all the employees. This sounds like a single individual that has taken the rules into their own hands.
Solutions searching for a problem.. if the ground is so hard that you can’t pull your stakes up by hand, you’re either driving them way too far, or you are using the wrong stakes for the soil type.
Most places we camped in Texas we were driving the stakes into a thick clay.
im rdy for someone to wait till dark, wait till theres lights, then fly the drone out to the light and see what exaxtly it is if possible
A lot of the drones don't have the range necessary. DJI is coming out with some extenders, but you have to pre-plan for where you think you will fly. They claim my drone will go 6 miles, but I lose signal at 3000 feet away.
My apologies, I noticed a few mistakes in the video after it was published. Kaylyn had some criticism for my proofing procedures. She might get herself a job if she isn't careful.
