Bear Mountain Builds has a similar storage shelf. The only difference is, he screws his back support legs into the studs making it less likely to everr tip over. Just another idea.

Do you have to use glue, or is it enough just to use screwes?

Can you use 2 x 3 s for this project, or is the strength of the 2 x 4 much better? How do you know how much weight you can have on the shelves?

Like you said, the home depot (or SAMS) cost about $200 dollars, so once you factor paint as well (not to mention 1000 pound rating per shelf), then its not that much of savings. I wonder what other projects would be more profitable for the amateur carpenter ? Like some wood work you could sell to your neighbors or even online.

Great how-to video. I am needing heavy-duty shelving for home canning, so this gave me ideas I need to incorporate.

Really nice and straightforward design. Some say it is overbuilt but I'd rather have it that way, knowing I can put whatever I need on it. Great job on the video and walking through that assembly. I was looking for something like this as I need to organize several containers and boxes. I'm going to give this a shot!

This is just the kind of thing I was looking for. Great production values; well paced, well narrated and easy to follow. I’m going to build a couple of these for my brick shed and am wondering whether I should fix them to the wall. Happy to be a new subscriber from over the pond 🇬🇧

Nice shelving but a bit over engineered. I think they can be done even more cost effectively. The jack studs could be totally eliminated, or you could use 1x4's instead of 2x4's. The compression strength is more than strong enough. They are primarily spacers anyway. The shelves themselves could be constructed with 1x4's as well. Granted, they wouldn't be as heavy duty but good enough. I have heavily loaded shelves that are just 1x12 pine mounted on those flimsy zigzag braces that can hold a heck of a lot of weight. Also, don't forget to anchor the shelves to the wall studs. Free standing shelves are a disaster just waiting to happen. Especially when the kiddos decide to climb up to get something on the top shelf.

Hundreds of videos on youtube of people showing off their pretty little waterfalls and I DONT GIVE A DAMN! then THEY just casually mention, 'oh yeah that's where you know all the pump and stuff goes', as if everyone already knows how to set the damn system up!I Was becoming so incredibly irritated that no one bothered to actually show how you would set up the pump vault and the water storage modules! Thank you
