In this video, I take my 2024 Toyota Tacoma for a drive and address some of the unfair criticisms circulating on RUclips. Many RUclipsrs have been creating negative content about the 2024 Tacoma, focusing on three main areas: claims that sales are horrible and the truck is a flop, predictions of future reliability issues, and highlighting isolated problems caught on video. I believe these video...

Aren't the EcoBoosts bad news?
I'm so happy they are making a coupe,i don't care I'm not going to blow anyone's doors off. Fun to drive and reliable
Don’t know where you’re located but any chance of driving it in the snow? I’d be very interested in your style of review combined with the manual transmission in winter conditions.
Man I feel like I've paid 25K for a Toyota X-Runner in 2010 and 2012. 2x cost increase in 12 years is wild
Update October 2024- Just an update after 3rd quarter sales. Tacoma sold 57,000 in 3rd quarter (July, August, September) Year to date Tacoma has sold 126,000 and no other brand is close. GM combined (colorado & canyon are under 100k) Clearly the Tacoma is selling and the numbers will only grow as all the models hit their production ramp.
GM has done that same exact shit with the Chevy Bolt EUV, mounting the brakes so low despite already having a tail light assembly in their usual spot. Their tail lights could've also been used as brake lights according to multiple videos trying to mod their car, as it had an option to have its tail lights FULLY LIT if the brakes were pressed, but that function was killed completely. This "trend" started with Kia and Hyundai. They have turn signals mounted so low to have an all red brake light assembly, which i also think is pathetic, but that's, better, than the shit GM is doing with their vehicles.
I just got a 2024 SRS5 4x4. Had it 2 months now. 2500 miles. It drives better than any mid size truck out there. Love the independent rear suspension. Love Love Love the v4 turbo. So much fun to drive this truck. Awesome pick up. Awesome ride. As far as reliable? We'll it has a 10 year warranty so I guess I'll worry 11 years from now. My only cons for me is the radio. Hate how I can't adjust sound from RUclips on my phone when watching a talk show and I must go thru RUclips music to have volume control. That is so so annoying. Hope they patch that. My other con is I would have liked a larger gas tank. 18 gallons? 25 gallons would a been great. But I still get 310 miles a fill up. Love the truck. Recommend it.
I built this truck on Ford website. In Canada its over $65,000. Im not paying that. If it was even $10,000 cheaper i would consider it.
That price is OUTRAGEOUS
Talk more about the engine!
Excellent video. You gave me all the info needed to make an intelligent decision. Go with your instincts. Pick a vehicle that is interesting and intriguing for you. It will then be a comprehensive evaluation. Good luck in the future.
This comment brought me immense levels of joy. Thank you for it, and hope to see you in the comments in future videos.

Wat
Click. Bait.
How? the title is literally exactly what the video is.
@MoneyShift Please, you are "Returning" your car....then, the entire video is about the charging network limitations (nothing at fault with the car) and your BS channel, where you have to get rid of the car so that you can review others. The oddest thing is that you talk about how Tesla has the much superior charging infrastructure, but then at the end recommend three non-Tesla alternatives, which would have exactly the same limitations as the Polestar. Just a waste of time and misleading. Really, the salient point of the video is the seating position and diacomfort. THAT should be the title...
@@jeffspeerstra1330 I am returning the vehicle. I cancelled the lease early and ate the costs associated with because not only was I not happy with the vehicle, but I had the opportunity to move on to something in the Ford Bronco that I could cover in depth and continue to provide insights to my community. Full stop. The video is literally my last drive in the car as I was driving to bring it back to Polestar. So the title is 100% accurate. I am not backed by OEMs, or a big name, so I use my own money to buy the cars and review them in depth for my community. As for the recommendations. In my situation, with no access to home charging and relying on public network, faster charging speeds at high speed fast chargers are a necessity. The slow charging rate of the Polestar vs the Hyundai/Kia options, combined with the lack of any features on the base model (for 50,000 there is no excuse to not have blind spot or a heated steering wheel) I would recommend those over this. At the time, the price of the Model 3 and Y were a lot higher than they are today, making the value that Hyundai/Kia slaps in there cars a no brainer for the dollars and cents you can get them for, particularly if you lease. I appreciate the comments, and your thoughts. Hope you have a good rest of your day Jeff.
Rev hang didn't seem that bad in this video. Any thoughts?
Meaning you didnt experience the same? You potentially are shifting at a lower RPM?
@@MoneyShift No just in some videos i've watched the RPMs can hang for 2 seconds before dropping especially at higher RPMs. The issue doesn't seem bad at all in your video. Have you noticed any rev hang? Thanks!
Purchased 24 tacoma sport premium just love this truck powerful smooth great truck many safety features and great tech
Agreed
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
Never knew Dana white rode in the Sentra 🔥
Huge compliment haha, thanks!
60k no pass no more 37k max that price i pay brad new and TLX 40k max they beautiful too much money
And Opel!
It looks like it whould be a good daily driver
Agreed, a tremendous option
It looks decent but fuck that other shit they wanna throw into it. I have a 5th gen and now they're gonna make all the aftermarket support for these old ones zero.
I love my 2 door,i only wish it had the larger fuel tank that the 4 door has
All I see are die hard fanboys not accepting the reality of it. I like 1st and 2nd gens, these new trucks are absolute dog shit. My gripes with the 2024 I had for 2 weeks as my rental: -You can't see *shit* out of this truck. Tiny windows, VERY narrow windshield (not to mention the rearview mirror that obscures 30-35% of your peripheral vision), the rear seat headrests literally block the entire rear window. I felt like I was guessing where I was in lane... zero visibility. -It drives like a Camry. I'm not saying it's not smooth, because it is, but it doesn't feel like a truck. It feels like a car. Maybe closer to an old GS. The bed is basically useless, barely a whole 4ft pallet. Geared super high. The suspension is probably the only thing I actually like about the truck. -It's uncomfortable and has no room for your balls. I can't sit with my legs a bit open to let the boys sit in their natural state. The seats are an upgrade from the typical Tacoma feature but they are still uncomfortable. Anything longer than an hour and I struggled to not need to pull over and un-cramp, mainly because the seat doesnt go back nearly far enough for a comfortable pedal position. Steering wheel sits way too low, and because you are so low in the cab... I just don't like it. The cab has high ground clearance, which is cool, but there's no easy way to get in and out in my opinion. The whole thing is cramped. Perfect truck for a 16 year old who hasn't hit puberty or anyone who won't grow beyond 5'8. -Not abandoning the cramped aesthetic, Toyota gave us *that* steering wheel. Your cruise control stalk interferes with your right hand if you don't have ladyfingers. It is telescoping and adjustable but so fractionally it makes literally no difference. It's not bad cosmetically but functionally it doesn't feel good to use. -Toyota keeping the tradition of the Tacoma never being able to find the correct gear to do what you need the truck to do, the 2024 didn't let me down. The pedal response due to the drive by wire system straight up fucking sucks and I'll fight all of you on that one. You need to mash the pedal down 30-40% before the truck will even move, but the second you touch that break pedal and it moves 1 thousandth of an inch, your face is hitting the steering wheel. The most absurdly sensitive brakes FOR NO REASON. The brakes were actually the reason I sold all my Tacomas... I couldn't stand it. Even braking with just a big toe was too much. -It feels cheap. That's the easiest way to put it, and it's because these new Toyotas have too much American influence. They know their target audience... commuters who may need to toss something small in the bed every once in a while... some BMX bikes, a kayak, etc... I would never waste my money on that thing.
Yes I drove CVT vehicles a decade ago that did this. It's crazy that they are so late joining the game, considering Nissan was probably the single company pioneering tech lol. My 2015 Nissan used to love to bog and then shoot up to near redline and go nowhere and for no reason lol. I could just be starting out from a red light and as soon as the RPMs reached about 2500 it would hit this weird neutral dead zone and skyrocket up to like 5,000 RPMs in order to take off at the speed a normal ATF would while doing only 3000RPMs lol
Way overpriced by about $20,000
14:34 don’t worry I won’t tell the Southborough police!! 😂

can you learn to pronounce Tessssssla correctly.... There is no Z anywhere!
Noted.
Cvt transmission failure its throwing your money
that thing looks sick
What are squishy breaks?
The sensation when you press the brake pedal is similar to a squishy toy.
Thanks never ran into this before
The only valid point here is the gloss and cup holder. The rest are down to the base model you’ve chosen. Pay more next time.
ahh ya let me just grab some off the money tree
IMO Kia sportage in why is a crime
Reliability doesnt help it.
I'm 72 years old. I All way driven manual transmission. This is the best one in my experience.
Couldn't agree more ChachaCheng!
Call me crazy but that first to second is quick and smooth. Probably significantly quicker than any previous generation tacoma.
Ya it feels GREAT.
My favorite was a 1983 F-150 X Cab Inline 6 302. Awesome Trk.econ.and power.
Heck ya! Loved the Inline 6!
No is350 f sport?
Some cars had to get excluded or else it would be an hour long video! 2024 list coming soon.
Just used my points from the Fusion I traded last Monday, carried points to my new Maverick’s points and knocked several hundred dollars off my Ford bed cover! Woohoo! Saved nearly $300! Way to go!🇺🇸
Had they made a v6 and kept the price a bit lower it would be way more respected
BRZ and FRS has a Subaru motor make it make sense when your rate a WRX that low
They have proven to have a bit more reliability on track (especially with a few preventative mods) vs a WRX.
Same is true with politics. Pick and choose your truths, but if you look at the big picture the other side is right. Mainstream media does it with everything. They can choose the truths to fit their agenda, but in reality when you look at the big picture, conservatives are normally correct.
Watching the clip it kinda seems like user error.. you dad might have tried to go 5>3 but the way the truck redlined really seemed to be what toyota described.. Transmissions can handle a 5>3.. 5>1 thats gonna do some damage
Made me pissed cuz I bought an after market one right before this came out🤣. Ya live and learn
I would have never purchased a Gen 3 simply because of the driving position and how underpowered it is. Recently, I bought a Gen 4 Limited and although not perfect (there’s a little rattle in the headliner on rough roads) I have little to complain about. It has great power, a nice ride, a nice interior, great tech, and is comfortable. I had a 2019 Ranger Turbo and went over 100k miles without issue. That engine would have likely lasted me 200-300k miles or more. I have to imagine that Toyota engines, based on past reliability, will last as long or longer.
Could the rev hang be reduced with a tune?
100%!
I wish I could figure out how to turn of the screen with one button push.
I like my yacht on wheels....Tundra all day
Thanks for your video. Does Tacoma with manual transmission get a hybrid engine?
Automatic only for that one I’m afraid
Turbo will never last, overpriced
