Cooling Down ALL My Monitor Lizards For Winter!
I love tortoise
So do i. They’re fascinating
should do a rarest reptile/amphibians in the hobby, for example s - for practically unseen and f - a leopard gecko and ball pythons lmao
@@Wise400 love that idea!
I'll see if I can DM pics, but I had an eastern garter that was over 3 foot! Also garters DO need rodents (not all the time) for vitamin B or face neurological issues from deficiency.
Nice man! I do disagree on the rodents tho. They live on a diet of mainly earthworms and amphibians in the wild. With proper lighting and diet, they will thrive on a rodent-less diet.

The fact that your using a grow tent makes me think your not as knowledgeable as you think. l keep Ackie monitors, and I have bred mine. I do not think they like all that heat. I have an atrium in my apartment in Tucson. My animals get real UV in the atrium open to the sky. It gets hot as hell in that atrium in the summer. I leave my door open so they can come in and out. In mid summer they only use the atrium a couple hours a day. I let them make up their own minds about the temperature they need. They run in and out of my apartment. They seem to prefer 100 to 110 degrees. At higher temperatures they get agitated and snappy. I check their stools and they look good and regular. At night they have 50 gal tanks with one 100 watt bulb and a 15 watt UV. I suggest you build a custom cage for large monitors. The best video is Can a lizard be Trained. This guy has a pair of breeding Lace Monitors in his living room. He has built a custom cage in his living room. This gentleman takes notes on behavior and is rock solid with his facts on care, breeding, temps ect. All this Lace Monitor info applies to most large Australian goanas. Cary in Tucson
@@CoryBoyd-ro4gk this was years ago. Check my later videos lol. I am very much against growtents for Argus other than temporary baby enclosures.
@@CoryBoyd-ro4gk i am also very familiar with the work and videos of Dr. Kirshner. But thanks for the comment big bro
Part 2? Carpet pythons, day geckos, especially electric blue day gecko, dart frogs could be nice addition to the list
Not a bad idea👀
Bearded dragons would be S if it weren’t for their annoying diet!
True datt
What would you recomend for a pair (Tank size)
I wouldn’t permanently house a pair together. It could very well end up in 2 dead monitors. But if you were going to, 10x6x8 or larger
@@willexotic Dosent they bond or something i read a lot about that and i read a bit about that were they house them in a about 6x5x3 or so
@danielmh99 nah, tree monitors bonding isn’t something i’ve seen recorded. They are solitary animals who really only cross paths to breed. Often times, females will become super defensive and even try and kill the male when nest guarding/ovulating
So I have a musk turtle and I think they are awesome. They don’t need huge spaces and a canister filter can be affordable. My tank has never stunk, Would you say that some water turtles would be harder than others?
I was generalizing by most common water turtles (red eared slider, yellowbelly, etc). Musk/mud turtles can actually make decent pets due to their size and relative ease of care, which most people can handle. Alot of ppl can handle a 40-50 gallon. Not many people can handle a 100+ gallon aquarium/indoor stock tank with gargantuan filtration.
Fax. So would mud and musks get a bump up from the F Tier? And I agree with leopard geckos being goated.
I would def bump them up
Would love to have a reptile as a pet but having two cats is already too much for me 😅😅 Mad respect to all reptile owners!!
They’re def awesome. Maybe one day!
I find this list very interesting, for someone who can’t keep 90% of reptiles on this list
I assume you’re in Australia…so you have access to SO much cool stuff we’ll never get🤬😩
@@willexotic sure am, not even Australia has access to all the native species.
Great list and video
Thank you my dude
You know my argus keeps me on toes too lol. Never quite know how he is gonna respond
Always gotta be ready😂
Great information, compassionate and honest
Thank you🤝thought i got carried away lol
I was getting ready to send for you with these opinions but I think you got it pretty much bang on bro! Garters and Leopards in S tier was a fire move
You just can’t contend with leopard geckos and garters for the perfect pet reptiles for literally anyone
I appreciate the passion when talking about their enclosures/lifestyle, hopefully people see this vid and it helps them make better decisions for their reptiles👍
That’s the hope. Thanks for watching
Hey man, it's me again, so im getting surgery on wednesday (pectus excavatum), and im gonna stay at the hospital for five days and then home for another like week. Safe to say, im gonna have some time to watch your videos

Leopard Geckos Better Be in S Tier!a!
were they?👀
22:46 fun fact Phil from Arids only keeps his uro’s in kiddy pool set ups and it works amazingly well.
That man is the GOAT or uromastyx. So anything he says is valid
I got a red ear slider x pond slider hybrid from the humane society, his name is money 😂😂 he lives with our shubunkin named Biggy 😂😂. My kids are funny with names
does he ever try to eat him lol
@@willexotic na Biggy is to big. I did have 40 red minos once but Money ate them 😂

12:07 my very first reptile was a 4 ft female iguana. I kept her in a 4x2x2. 😶. I was 12 sue me 😂. She only slept in her viv the rest of the time she was with me at school or freeroaming. Sweetest iggy ever but not for everyone. I got extremely lucky.
i love iguanas man they're so cool
@@willexotic ya she was sweet. My teachers love her so they would let me bring her to school most days. She would just sit on my shoulder and chill. She was potty trained to use the toilet too so it was easy. She went went I went 😂😂😂
8:50 I can confirm tegus are easier then monitors because they are a half year reptile slower then monitors but have the same body plan. My tegus helped me be ready for getting monitors. Now I have 4 😂😂😂wait 5 forgot about Syd 😂
yeah dude the body language is so similar but a whole lot slower
8:06 could have used Betty’s pics for the tegu😢 shes the best Tegu.
the GOAT
Obviously the best pet reptiles are Faerie Dragons!
those would be sick af as pets lol
Tegus make great pets and tame down very well but I would say they are just as dangerous if not more dangerous then monitors. A Tegu can literally take your finger off to my knowledge I don't think any monitor can take your finger but a Komodo. Not that Monitor bites aren't nasty
I have both monitors and a tegu. Not in the least warry of my Tegu shes a puppy but my 4 mangroves Will take a finger if they could. Tegus are alot easier to read the body language and alot slower then monitors.
i would say monitor bites on average are more dangerous. I don't doubt that a bite from a large chacoan male tegu could do some serious damage, but i've never heard of them removing a finger. There are a handful of monitor species, who, if they bite you in the right spot, can send you on a serious trip to the hospital. The reflexes of monitor lizards also make it so that you need to be much more careful around them than tegus.
@willexotic monitors shred you and it could be nasty. But a big Tegu can take the finger right off. Tegus on average are a lot more tame and less high strung but if it were aggressive lizards a monitor and a Tegu I'd say the Tegu can really take what ever it bites off. By the way just took a nasty bite from a young female Argus it was nasty but I still have my finger lol
I knew a pet store owner that got scared of his young adult male and sold it after he lost the tip of his finger to a Tegu.
That’s awful lol
