A.I. Nae 👎🏻 or Aye 👍🏻?
Просмотров 182 месяца назад
A I - Nae? or Aye A.I - Its all we hear about these days. When it comes to music though - or any form of creativity - is it really what we want? With entire songs being created entirely with A.I is it just the enemy or originality and creativity as some say, or is it something we can use as a tool to help us? I’m a little confused… I take it the emulated output bypasses the amp’s reverb? So the overall lesson is… if you’re going to DI, simply use the amp with pedals as you normally would?

    • @thecreativeguitarlounge
      @thecreativeguitarlounge Месяц назад

      No it doesn't bypass the amp reverb - I just prefer when D.I ing, to use an external reverb in my DAW rather than printing the amp's reverb so i turn it off. It gives me options basically. As regards FX then yes the Emulated direct out comes after the pre amp, EQ and reverb so however you use FX is fine. I put some effects in front of the amp and some in the FX loop and just wanted to explain that this works with the emulated D.I.

    I bought one back in January this year. Had to adjust the intonation a bit but otherwise it was very playable from the start and I was enjoying playing it a lot..! Until today! Somehow suddenly there'no signal coming from the guitar so there must be something wrong with the wiring (no idea what happened, I didn't drop it or anything). Ordinarily this shouldn't be such a big problem... but I have no idea how to get to the wiring! There's no backplate, and taking off the scratchplate indeed didn't reveal any easier access to the wiring... if anyone has any ideas on how to get inside to do some soldering, please lmk. Major design flaw from what I can tell, because I don't see any way of getting into save from actually taking apart the guitar which I suspect may cost close to as much as the guitar itself...

To be fair I believe all semi hollow bodied guitars have this problem. I watched a video on this a while back and it basically involved unbolting all the knobs, removing the pick ups and pulling everything out through the pickup holes. Very finicky. Hope you can get it sorted - could be as simple as a loose wire on the jack socket?

    Does it sound like a $3000 handwired tube amp? No. Does it make your Strat sound decently like a Strat for $500? Yes it certainly does, and along with a lot of options like the .5 watt low volume thing, FX send and return and a bunch of other useful stuff including a 12" speaker which I would say is really important to making a "small" amp sound good. Nice demo that really shows what this amp is about. Calling this a tube amp with a transistor overdrive built into the front of it doesn't exactly tell the whole story properly though. While this amp does have an actual preamp tube and a small power tube actually driving the speaker there are a lot of opamp and FET stages along the way. Calling it a hybrid amp is accurate but still a bit confusing as it does have a tube preamp section and a tube power amp section but I can understand to a degree why some claim that this is not a "real" tube amp. If the amp makes sounds you are happy with it certainly offers a hell of a lot of options to fairly low cost low volume playing that can sound pretty decent. Here is a schematic of the amp for anyone interested in what is going on inside this rather complicated little beast: www.fixguitaramps.co.uk/blog/download/blackstar-ht5r-schematic/?wpdmdl=168&refresh=65a8066dd557c1705510509

    Thanks for this excellent video review! I got the same Vintage Burst model a couple of weeks ago and I have the same reaction/impressions that you have. I got it for $229 plus $90 shipping from Germany - amazingly it arrived in 24 hours to my house in Brooklyn, NY! It's quickly becoming one of my favorites in my collection. I might, as you suggested, upgrade the tuners or the pickups, but it's not necessary, as far as I can tell. Maybe after a year of playing it, I'll think differently - maybe! I don't use coil-splitting much, but it's nice to have the option, too…For now this is a very nicely built, fun to play, versatile guitar that sounds as good as it looks, at a price that's hard to believe!

      Hi there - good to hear from you. I’ve had mine for a year now and play it daily. I haven’t done a thing to it since adjusting the action to suit. It lives in my living room, replacing the acoustic that now lives upstairs in the studio. I write and record with it all the time and I often have to prise it out of my life and music partners hands 😂Great guitar at any price. Enjoy 👍🏻

      It’s a good enough sound for practice I would say - perhaps a little “thin” because of the speaker emulation.

      Definitely not horrible - just not as good as the full amp sound - in my opinion

    I’m not trying to sound like a dick here but with the clearing of the throat, the swallowing every 30 seconds it’s really disgusting and it’s really miked up very loud so I can hear all of the dry mouth and it’s really unpleasant so that’s all I can say other than thanks for trying with the information, but I can’t watch the rest of this.

    Great video! You hit the target for many "bedroom" players. I'm just getting comfortable with the HT-5R MkII, as my first valve amp. So I am a noobie. I had a feeling the amp had more to give and your video confirmed it. Thanks. There are a few baby steps that you skipped that would help viewers to succeed in pursuit of tone and avoid disaster. I am thinking of the caution bubble about keeping a load on the amp if unplugging the speaker. (solid state guy here). Please consider a more granular look at the details of the setup in a future video.

      Thanks for your comment. I actually emailed Blackstar support about the load scenario just to be sure. It appears that as the amp doesn't have a standby switch you'd probably be ok without a dummy jack plugged in. I personally would rather be "belt and braces" sure so will always use one when I use the amp this way.

      @@thecreativeguitarlounge Thanks. I see your earlier videos on the amp cover alot of the info. I'd forgotten that one of the earlier videos had me add the Blackstar to my "watch for a sale" list so I was ready to pounce when opportunity arrived. Thanks again.

    HB guitars can indeed be quite well-done, especially (as you noted) "For the money". The main hazard with guitars at that price point is that the quality control isn't that consistent across the board. More often than not, though, I've found any problems to be quite fixable. I have a Lemon Drop SC450 Plus (the LP style) that I bought a couple of years ago. It had two problems on arrival: 1) The tone knob caps - one had a chunk cracked out of it and the other was missing altogether; 2) The finish on the upper frets was pretty rough. Problem #1 was solved by shelling out $10 at a local shop for a set of Gibson speed knobs - I probably would have done that anyway as the "top-hat" knobs aren't easy to grab hold of. Problem #2 - I gave the frets a gentle going-over with a fine-grade sanding block and steel wool, and they slicked up quite nicely. I also gave the fretboard a good cleaning with a cloth and lemon-oil; I gave it 2-3 such treatments, set the action to my taste, and it's played like butter ever since.

      Yes the variable QC thing does seem to be the catch. Maybe I’ve just been lucky with both HB’s I’ve bought. Thanks for your comment

    Is the amp HT-5R or HT-5R MK II version?

  • @pbshobby4183
    @pbshobby4183 10 месяцев назад

    Your great sounds got me wondering if my HT5R sounded as good, and why I am not using it much. I put on headphones and was reminded of a distracting background ticking I get only on the clean channels regardless of any setting or type of guitar. Otherwise it also has some great sounds. In your experience have you solved a similar ticking sound? This is my first valve amp and perfect otherwise so any tips will be appreciated.

      Hmmm - the only thing I can think of is that the amp may be picking up interference from something external - radio/tv/mobile phone. Or there may be a failing component in the amp

      @@thecreativeguitarlounge Thanks. I will try moving it further from other electronics. Apparently the Mk1 version had some flaws in PC board heat management design. 🤞Hopefully corrected in Mk 2.

      @@thecreativeguitarlounge Your suggestion about electrical interference was on target. Finding a new plug in spot fixed the tick and greatly improved the sound. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
