Don't Make This Mistake When Wrapping Your Jeep!
I teased you all about Vector's new look during the Plasti-Dip Long Term Review video back in August. Well, here it is! I completed the layout of the hood decal I wanted, I installed Vivvid Air Vinyl from Amazon and here is the final result. Like I said in the video title, don't make my mistakes and save yourself the pain I went through. Also check out the video and have a laugh or two of the 2 minutes of video I included of me bumbling around the hood, from tire to bumper to other tire.
I am not sponsored by nor am I being paid by Vivvid Air for this Install & Review.
I hope you enjoy my video and find value in the content. Please leave me comments, questions, or feedback! I appreciate it!...

Have 2020 JLU No lockers this looks like an option. What is in your jeep now and were can you get them ?
Hey there Dunnoyolo thanks for checking out my video! This is definitely an option but I did later upgrade to air lockers front and rear so I have the option to be in 4WD with or without front or rear lockers on. Check out my video series where I talk about my axle upgrades! It’s a 5 part series - ruclips.net/video/iSEleL_Wzg4/видео.htmlsi=9k0CQKBrvVN08_uk
This as been the best video I been searching for, direct and explicit. keep rolling them and good luck.!
Thank you for checking out my video Cosimosanfilippo9050! I appreciate the feedback and my hopes are to make more of these shorter diagnostic videos in the future!
In my 2013 jk Dana 30 , my auto locker will ratchet turning right but turning left it ratchets along with clonking and jerking . Any thoughts on this on what to look for ?
Hey there Hiltonsaona, thanks for checking out my video! Are you running the TorqMasters Torq Locker or some other brand?
@@VictorVectorJKU the same Torq Locker . I have a stick shift and even if I put it in neutral and make a u turn it’s embarrassing :) only on left turns .
@hiltonsaona7862 ok, great! I just wanted to make sure. I have had a few people ask questions about other brands and I just tell them I can’t really help. But in your case I would suggest reaching out to TorqMaster Industries and have them help you troubleshoot. They are great to work with and are far more knowledgeable on their product than I am.
@ okay will do .
Guessing for a Wrangler, at least $10,000.00 because we are all millionaires and own a Jeep.
Hey there BlackYellow07, thanks for checking out my video! Not sure what you are saying is $10,000.00. The metal cloak skid system is currently listed at $1,566.00 and they do have sales through the year which I would recommend waiting for. I think I paid between $1,200-$1,300 during a sale for mine.
Did you ever make a video when you made those repairs? I hear a slight ticking sound from my engine. No codes yet.
Hey there Enrick, thanks for checking out my video! I do not think I made a video of the repairs to the header gaskets. The only video I recorded but haven’t edited is for the upgraded magnaflow exhaust system I went with.
U mean the exhaust manifold gasket leak that is attached tje the engine
Hey there SamCobra, thanks for checking out my video! Yes that was one of the leaks that I had and required replacing the metal gaskets between the head and headers.
Our basketball hoop fell on the front fender of my Gladiator during a windstorm and broke a few clips. This is the best video I've found on what to do to fix it. I appreciate you.
Hey Rustyssnakeadventures, thanks for checking out my video and I am glad it was able to help you fix your gladiator fender clips!
Has anyone had problems after install and over a year of running? After many air downs/air ups and re torques I have now broke bolts I have always torque to approx 21-22ft pounds. Curious ya all experience?
Has anyone had problems after install and over a year of running? After many air downs/air ups and re torques I have now broke bolts I have always torque to approx 21-22ft pounds. Curious ya all experience?
Hey there LorneHood, thanks for checking out my video! I have not had any issues with broken bolts for my beadlock rings. Granted I have only ever removed and reinstalled the bolts one time for my switch from 37” to 40” tires. I also only checked the torque of the ring bolts one time after the initial torque after driving some distance.
Interesting. Run on 37” for over 3 years no issues until recent furring a snow run. Maybe bolts get stressed? Need replacement? Not knowing. Thanks for replie.
@ so what I have heard as being the leading cause of bolts failing with bead locks are over pressuring your tires when airing up and repeatedly tightening or retorquing the bolts. Typically when you torque a bolt you are straining the material of the bolt or nut in this case the threads for the beadlock ring in the wheel. Hopefully in this case the bolt will yield first. But once you have done one yield torque bolts should be replaced. So if you are retorquing bolts frequently on your beadlocks it would be best to replace them at some interval.
Good info. I retorque 1x per year when I rotate tires. I was thinking about replacing bolts but as you know it a bit of work. FYI others on the interwebs have said it is under torqued bolt? Thanks again for info.
All that and never showed how itactually plugs in to unit...
Hey SkyBlueOffroad, thanks for checking out my video! Unfortunately I did miss that, I skipped all the routings I completed as well. The plug into the back of the unit is extremely straight forward however!
I’m pretty sure I have an exhaust leak. Can you just leave the shop vac on until you find it and it won’t damage anything?
Hey there Cole, thanks for checking out my video! That is what I did, I left the shop vac running and checked throughout the entire exhaust system to find my leak. I did not run into any issues afterwards so you should be fine to not damage the engine.
Awesome video! It looks like if Darth Maul and a storm trooper had a child. I really like it! Hey, why did you remove the amber film off your lights?
Also, do you air down to get in and out of your garage or does it clear?
@jordanherrmann9584 hey there Jordan, thanks for checking out my video! Yeah that is a fun way to see it! 😂 I removed the amber film because I wanted to change up the appearance and also I found the output of the lights was too much even with the amber to be of any help in heavy fog, rain, or snow. The fog lights really were the best option for those weather conditions and I just use the forward lighting for clear nights now. As for the garage, I just barely clear by about 1-2 inches without doing anything!
@@VictorVectorJKU Good to know, thank you!! I was wondering if the amber film/tint hadn't held up or melted or something weird. I now see those fog lights in your bumper, did you get rid of the kc c-series lights or mount them somewhere else?
@jordanherrmann9584 nope, I haven’t had any melting or other issues with the vinyl wraps I have put on any of my lights besides maybe some separation and dirt getting underneath but still no issues or damage from it.I still have the KC C2’s. They are mounted on the a-Pilar and rear quarter panel facing outward for perimeter lighting as well as in the rear bumper for reverse!
I just picked a set of these up. I am assuming the forged rings came with new longer hardware? I was given some brand new rings but they didn't have hardware in the box and the instructions don't mention it.
Hey there Jeepfreak81, thanks for checking out my video! That is correct the new hardware was supplied in each of the boxes for one beadlock ring.
Great products and super responsive. I reached out on a small issue and the president of the company responded back. I was completely blown away.
Thanks for checking out my video Olive-oilien! I couldn’t agree more, great company, product, and customer service! 🇺🇸
I got a question, I bought inner fender liners, but I still want to use my factory fenders. Is that possible
Hey Burpinupbourbon, thanks for checking out my video! That is a good question and will likely depend on the brand of the inner fenders you purchased. I would look and see from the manufacturer’s website if they way the factory flares can be maintained or shoot them a call or email and ask!
I need to do this. I got bigger tires and a different set of wheels with a 0 offset so they poke out a bit and now the sides of my suv are being splashed up with dirty water on regular drives. It’s not illegal to have the treat stick out here in Fl but it is not convenient to have to wash the car every other day.
Hey Arlene, thanks for checking out my video! Yeah these will definitely help keep the sides of your SUV clean! And good quality too if you clean and prep correctly!
Good stuff! And when the time comes for a long arm, may I suggest you give Brian a call at Hepta MFG. He’s a true craftsman and takes great pride in the components he builds.. I got his long arm kit installed in May before Moab. He’s in Washington, UT (St George/Sand Hollow).
Hey bud, thanks for checking out my video! I am very familiar with Brian and Hepta. I definitely see his craftsmanship and pride in his product. I have chatted with him a couple times and seems like a great guy from those times. I’m hoping to run into him at Trail Hero but I’m not gonna stress it, I’m there to wheel and have a blast with friends!
Would like to see where you install that chase bar, maybe a quick "walk around" video once completed.
Hey bud, it’s been a minute! Thanks for checking out my video! Yeah I have an idea of what I ultimately want to do with it but I will likely do a quick temporary install if I get to it before Trail Hero. But I will definitely look to do a quick walk around when I get everything done! I hope you are doing well!
@@VictorVectorJKU yes it's been awhile for sure. I've slowed down on my Jeep build a bit but regaining interest again. looking forward to the new Jeep upgrades.
@Georgia4Low I hear you, my life has been busy and had to balance a lot of other things taking some of the time away from my focus on my Jeep but I am trying to dedicate more time again! Likewise I look forward to seeing updates on yours when you get back to them!
I’m here for the algorithm for you. This is fantastic and I am very appreciative of your video. Very clear and informative. I’m replacing some rough country springs soon here. I run JKS adjustable track bar, relocation bracket and drag link flip kit. JKS is fantastic. You saved yourself a ton of money doing it yourself. How did you end up feeling about the JKS lift?
Hey gunztommiegunz, thanks for checking out my video and I appreciate your feedback! I definitely try to make my videos clear and provide all the information I can to help out anyone doing the same or similar upgrades as I have. The JKS loft I installed was great and gave me a solid 3 years of on and off-road performance that I enjoyed. I ultimately wanted to get into a more advanced suspension system but this one had great on and offroad characteristics and performance. I did upload a review video before swapping to a new suspension package if you are interested, here is the link! ruclips.net/video/BA1Kfn1rYDQ/видео.htmlsi=Xj3xdtwc9yReTwec
@@VictorVectorJKU I’m looking forward to checking this out! Thank you for your quick reply and giving an explanation after already giving a review video! I am 80/20-90/10 on road and off. I love JKS manufacturing products as well as their support team. They’re knowledgeable there. I’m looking forward to getting these 3.5”x3.5” JKS Jspec 2350 springs installed. I’m already lifted, unfortunately a cheap Rough country but have swapped everything to JKS and springs will be the final touch. I have adjustable track bars and control arms, offset wheels, track bar brackets, drag link flip, Bilstein 2-6” lift shocks, etc. what a fun hobby. Thanks again!
@@gunztommiegunz yeah of course, I never like to assume someone will watch all the videos I post as they are more specific to the install and that might not interest everyone so taking a couple minutes to briefly restate a review in comments is no big deal. Also I happened to be scrolling the IG so I happened to see your comment and had time to write a reply right away! I agree with you about JKS, they have a very complete system, their packaging is top of the line for protection and presentation, as well as very well performing! I would say the split of greater on road to offroad with the lift I installed is perfect, still great on road performance and very adequate off road. It’s great to hear you are working your way from rough country to JKS, I think you will be well satisfied with the changes. Also sounds like you have the right setup and working towards a complete system!
@@VictorVectorJKU exactly what I’m doing! Difference so far is night and day. I can’t agree more about JKS. I’m looking forward to getting them on my rig! I’m finishing up watching part 2 on the install now. Been a mechanic my whole life but I still checkout the guys who have actually done it. It helps immensely when encountering issues. I find it extremely easy to work with JKS products. Even though I like being proactive on these projects. Hey thanks again for the clear informative videos, your feedback and your review after getting some time on it. It’s reassuring and affirms my opinion on the company. Enjoy your day my friend, you earned my subscription.
@gunztommiegunz oh yeah I definitely agree, there are times the instructions cover how to do installations well and some don’t. All based on the different companies and their levels of detail so I similarly will look for videos when I am even doing installs too! I really appreciate the subscription! I hope you have a great day too and good luck on the rest of your upgrades! 🤙🏼
Did you reuse the plastic clips on the dowels by the pedals? I cant get them back on
Hey there Darren, thanks for checking out my video! Yeah I did reinstall the plastic retainers on the dowels. Is the issue that the liner cutouts are not aligned or the dowel isn’t tall enough?
@@VictorVectorJKU dowel not tall enough
@@darrensmith198 I just ran out and took a look at my floor liner, I was able to fully install my clips on the studs. It might be that Armorlite thickened the materials in that area or depending on your year of Jeep they have a different length of stud. Either way there should not be an issue with not having those clips installed since the armorlite floor is much more rigid and should stay in place where the carpet would be more likely to flop down away from the firewall.
@@VictorVectorJKU yeah i dont think they necessary. I can feel some thread on the dowels so im thinking i might have damaged the plastic pieces taking them off
Ah yeah, I see. Well if you end up deciding you need something to retain them, you could go to a hardware store and find some of those plastic wing nuts like on a ram mount or camera mount that matches the thread pitch and they typically have an offset that could work.
Looks good you may want to use anti seize on your bolts
Thanks for checking out my video Boogiebuff! Did I not state to use anti seize? I do use anti seize on my beadlock ring bolts
Having just completed my install, I wanted to send a thank you for this video. The content was definitely more useful than the manufacturers instructions. The hint with using the c-clamp to install the rivnut was EXTREMELY helpful. Nicely done, dude. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Hey there Gillafunk, thanks for checking out my video! Thanks for the compliment too, this is exactly why I started my channel to create helpful content and share tips and tricks to make installs easier for others! Glad my video helped you out! 🤙🏼
Thanks for the video man, currently running 35s on a factory sahara, no lift. Went on a logging road called rough rock road. Lived up to its name! Appreciate it
You are very welcome, and likewise thanks for checking out my video! I am glad it was able to help you out!
The hood on my 2010 JK has started to fade out. The clear coat is failing. I was thinking about what I could do without having to have a new paint job done. This is exactly what I was thinking!! Looks great! Curious how it has held up?
Hey there Ryan, thanks for checking out my video! This could definitely be a solution for you. I am in progress of doing a review of how it held up. I just pulled it off in May of this year and it held up really well! I might have that video up in a few weeks but I was definitely happy with it. Teaser, I did update to a vinyl wrap that I replaced the plastic-dip with and used cutting tape to make a similar but updated look!
Hey Ryan, I just uploaded my long term review video of the plasti-dip if you are interested in seeing more of the video of how it looks after 4 years! ruclips.net/video/Nm3on_e31yY/видео.htmlsi=z7OKI6o7LCgxen-N
Did you have any issues with it wanting to bind up in tight turns? Mines been installed for a few months but it just wants to bind up occasionally while in tight turns. The center gap was within specs per instructions.
Hey Joe, thanks for checking out my video! I do not think I ever ran into binding issues when in tight turns. With you mention of being within spec, that does take away one thought of mine. My second thought might be if you have standard axle shafts with U-Joints in the knuckle ends. I have seen people bind their axles shafts with the steering stops set too far back and allow the U-Joints to bind. You could look and see if there is a shiny part in the ear of the u-joints and that would signify that being the issue. Otherwise, I would recommend reaching out to TorqMaster and see if they could help being the OEM of the product. They are super helpful and great to work with!
@@VictorVectorJKU When I performed the spin test, while spinning one wheel it will ratchet fine and then try to act like the locker is engaged and spin the other wheel too. If I spin one tire real slow, it will always lock up and spin both at the same time. I've been debating on pulling it out and going back to open diff but I love the locker when I'm offroading. On the road its fine just when I'm making a sharp turn then it starts binding and bucking the jeep 😕
Ah ok, I did not understand your diagnosis before but now I get what is happening I think. So when you are taking a normal corner you will hear and maybe slightly notice the small ratcheting of the torq locker however when you take sharp corners you are getting a more dramatic unloading than the typical ratcheting after a slight bind. I did have that happen and I would know it’s going to happen on dry pavement typically only at slow speeds in parking lots. At times initially I would be concerned but I came to realize this is just normal function of the locker. I did my best to not put myself in scenarios of tight turns on pavement even tho they do happen. So if this is typical driving conditions for you and it is something you are uncomfortable with, then perhaps going back to an open front end might be right for you. I would still reach out to TorqMasters and get their input, they may have ideas to help reduce this.
@@VictorVectorJKU Sorry I didn't make it very clear to begin with lol. But yeah I'm going to reach out to Cora at Torqmasters and see what she thinks of the situation. I watched her video where they installed the front locker in their shop JL and drove it around in different scenarios and it never got bound up in the parking lot so I was just curious if maybe you had any encounters either. I appreciate your time with answering me back!
@joecramer7818 all good, and actually after your second message I understood the first. I just didn’t quite put it together correctly initially when I read your first. And yeah they know the product really well and will help you figure it out! Best of luck and hopefully you guys find a solution!

Hey there PKPVCFLL, thanks for checking out my video! Glad to hear it was able to help you out and not deal with that flare hanging off any longer!
Thanks guys...I was about to pay an install company. Glad I didn't, now I feel like I should send ya'll that money I saved. I think mine came with the cargo area too, but I'm sure that's easily done.

Hey Manuel, thanks for checking in out my videos! Yes I did paint them and I have a video series for the modification, paint, and final install of them. I should be uploading those all here in the next few weeks.
Hey there Manuel, I just uploaded the next video covering painting of the rear corner armor if you are still interested in checking it out! Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/msFMsE_bfEI/видео.html
Best install video for JL Armorlite. Thanks!
Hey Slavszudarski4492, thanks for checking out my video and I am glad you found value in it! I appreciate the compliment! 🤙🏼
It didn’t look like it was well attached 😮
Hey there MrGodSinx, thanks for checking out my video! Do you mean it wasn’t well attached before or after?
After. the rear one by the door still looked like it was a little wobbly thinking maybe you might have to push it harder in for the clip to hold
It could have been that the location of where the clip is held on the plastic flare was slightly damaged. I do recall them getting a bit damaged after being ripped off a couple times. Fortunately I do not run the factory flares any longer so it’s not an issue for me any longer!
Just the video, that I needed! I went through the Car Wash and apparently, one of my rear fender clips broke off, from my 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. I ordered my fender clip kit from Amazon, so I feel confident enough, to do the repair myself (female)😘🤙🏽🛻 Aloha 🌺🍍and Mahalo for this detailed and up close video 🐶🙌🏼💯
Hey Jadef6784, thanks for checking out my video and I am glad that you found it helpful! I have not checked to see if the clips are the same across the JK wrangler, JL wrangler, and JT gladiator but I am aware the attachment methods are similar. I hope the repair goes smooth for you! 🤙🏼
Thanks!
You bet Fiorenzobendotti7793, thanks for checking out my video!
Pop over to jeep jk no bs a fb and we need to hit the trails soon.
Thanks for checking out my video Powerstrokeeld! I’ll have to check it out!
Awesome video, it will be running while we install this today on my JK! Can we talk about the boot on your driveshaft? Did you ever replace it?
Hey there Annmarie, thanks for checking out my video and I hope your install goes smooth today! I had not ever replaced it and ran without the boot over the slip portion of the driveline for a decent amount of time. I did upgrade both my driveshafts at later times to Adams which have been doing great for me.
@@VictorVectorJKU thanks for the quick reply! I can rest easy knowing I don’t have to keep searching for that part that seems to not exist 🤣. Adam’s is on my list too!
@annmariepinkerton3345 you are welcome, and yeah the slip boot is less important than the cv boots on either end of the driveshaft. Of course if you are in an area that corrosion is an issue you may start noticing issues sooner.
Which of rhe 2 connectors did you use?
Hey there Brian, thanks for checking out my video! I trialed connecting both with power to the camera to see which one worked for me, I would suggest you do that same as I cannot recall which I used and your application may be different.
I know this is several years late but, thank you for the in-depth video. I have been looking for weeks at install videos for various lights and nobody ever states what gauge wire they use or fully films the process of assembling the harness, except for you. As someone who lacks any and all knowledge on this topic but is trying to learn, you have my thanks.
Hey there Juliang.5901 thanks for checking out my video! Of course, I think a number of creators do not want to provide too great of detail for the case of any failures happening based on any content shared. I hope that I detailed out in my video where I obtain details on gauge of wire to use based on length and amperage and what I made is truly for reference based on my specific application. Like you said it has been a couple years since I made this video and I do not recall the details I went into 😅
Where did you get the adapter for the lighter
Hey there Tim, thanks for checking out my video! I purchased the adapter and a 12v outlet off Amazon. The following links should take you there. Please note I did have to modify the adapter to connect to this specific outlet. I believe I just needed to add blade terminals to it so it would connect to the harness. a.co/d/3i7V60O a.co/d/20CMlYr
How long did it take you? Thanks for the insight
Hey there Jesse, thanks for checking out my video! Honestly my time is a bit skewed since I was recording while swapping in the torq locker. Time would come down to the tools you have and experience. When I made my review video I think I was able to pull the carrier and torq locker and reinstall it all in a matter of 2-4 hours but my axle was not under the vehicle during that video.
I used a shop towel in the exhaust pipe. It only took a minute it see it when i did mine. But this is better. Great video
Hey there Chris, thanks for checking out my video! Yeah that’s definitely another way to do it! And thank you, I try to share the little tips and tricks I come across!
Where did you get the power cable?
Hey there Jack, thanks for checking out my video! I believe I pulled power from the accessory 12v plug in the dash since I had added a second 12v plug to that circuit. I know others have pulled from the reverse lights as well so you only power the camera when in reverse.
I am having a tough time finding a rivet gun that will take these plastic rivets. Any help would be appreciated.
Hey there srsurfin77, unfortunately I do not know of the tool used to replace the plastic rivets between the inner liner and the outer flare. I think I used a set of plyers and a nail or something to install them.
If you have the pry bar put the rivet in and use the pry bar to hold it against the fender. At the same time use some wire cutters to pull the tip out. Keep pulling until it breaks or tight then cut off excess
@@tedballard4832 Great idea, thanks!
Thanks for stone chips in my windshield trucks like yours, I have a truck myself tires are in the wheel well like there supposed to be that is way they have laws inconsiderate
🤙🏼
Prolly shoulda aired down first. Woulda never been stuck.
Airing down is essential and always part of my arriving to the trail routine 🤙🏼
Would you have a photo or diagram where the six bolts are in the front wheel well panel. Thanks!
Hey there srsurfin77, unfortunately I do not have a diagram or way to upload a photo and I no longer have the factory inner fender liner to show this. I found a detailed picture process that another Jeeper created. Check out the following link: wanderingtrail.com/Mechanical/FlareRemove/FlareRemove.html
Thank you! #KeepOnJeepin @@VictorVectorJKU
I got less than a year out of a brand new set. Unless there is something seriously wrong with my Jeep (even though there is nothing wrong with the Goodrich Mud Terrains that I replaced them with now going on 3 years) then I'd have to say that they wear pretty poorly.
That is interesting, I think you are the first I have heard of this issue from. My tires were on my Jeep for just under 3 years and performing general tire maintenance including regular rotations and maintaining tire pressure mine still have much life left even sitting stacked in my garage.
I found it odd as well. They weren't totally ruined after a year, but they were really low on tread and they had horrible cupping. I will say that I should have rotated them a bit more often, but considering how short of a time I had them I can't imagine that was the primary issue.
Yeah hard to say, I’m not a tire pro by any means but the way I rotated every oils change, about 5k miles and maintaining about 32 psi worked well to keep my tread life solid.
hope you feel like posting anytime soon again!
Hey Domi-83 thanks for checking out my channel! Life has definitely gotten busy. I hope to get back to making videos again sometime in the future!
My front door on my JK is leaking when i use the soft top anytime it rains. I cant figure out exactly what seal it is. But is coming from the front door/ corner of thr soft top and drains down the a pillar into the floor. It causes my carpet to smell mildewed quickly each time. Would these help stop the mildew smell? Im afraid it might leak under these and the bottom of these soak it up. Thanks!
Hey there Nick, thanks for checking out my video! So I have been concerned with exactly what you brought up. I have found the fit to be pretty tight between the floor system and kick panel trim so I haven’t noticed much water getting under but I am sure some does. Obviously doing an aggressive wash out can get a lot more water under them. I have not noticed any mildew smells from mine and I remain very happy with the product after more than 3 years!
I have the 35 12.5 r20 on my 2023 ram 1500. I read these larger tires will damage tge transmussion and rear differential. Any thioghts on that? The dealer had these on and a front level. They are smooth, quiet, and I don't need to put more money out to change new tires but need to if they'll damage the trans. Yep to beefy.
Hey there Semlohde1, thanks for checking out my video! So anytime you modify anything from stock the wear patterns and service intervals change for other components such as transmission, suspension, axles, and brakes to list a few. If you are concerned with that I would recommend you go back to the stock size listed on the door label. It is a choice and recognition that upgrades make.
Question what brand and what weight of differential fluid are you using? That might have a lot to do with why the unit looks so good
Hey Krod2162 thanks for checking out my video! That is a very good question! I am not positive but I think it was valvoline brand and SAE 80w-90
My wifes JL has the option to turn on the backup camera while driving down the interstate. Is there an option with this radio to access the backup camera while not in reverse?
Hey Gary, thanks for checking out my video! For the JK, I have not found an option to turn it on unless you simulate reverse. I have also not really looked into it tho.
