My Thoughts On Every Demo I Played | GAMESCOM 2023
i love this game sm
this game is absolute cinema
i miss gow ngl
cool short, probably going to watch the full video!
If i ever find a flaw in gow i blame it on sweet baby inc I maybe being a little petty
I dont really agree with this
I know it's definitely not a popular opinion, that's why I made my video. But there's only so much you can fit into a short
The entire game is building to the end fight aka the title lol couldnt disagree more
Interesting. In this clip you seem to love everything about the game, yet your title says otherwise. Definitely gonna check out your video!
r.i.p this podcast
Let the 3 players cook
Coolacool
Finally got around to this video! Ive been on the fence if i should play fes first before reload, and i think i might start with fes, seeing you show the differences with where each game shines or dosent makes me want to expeiance them now! Fantastic work man, stealler video!!!
Thank you so much!! If you are okay with some of the quirks that come with FES that I talked about I would definitely recommend it! You can't really go wrong with either Reload of FES for a first playthrough imo, so if you informed yourself and you like the look of FES I would say go for it!! Hope you enjoy
8:48 isnt that true for most games, once you fully get into them and have the mechanics unlocked?
I'm playing through the first one now and i am a bit baffled that there's so much positive hype about this game. It was particularly jarring that colony 9 was devastated but then everything went back to normal except for the removal of the colonal. Also the number of quests, and the item drop rate is overwhelming to the point that it all just becomes irrelevant noise. I barely ever get equipment from an actual quest that's better than random drops. The day night system only serves to frustrate me. Plus, the scale of the bionis so far is kind of ruined by the amount of time it takes to get around, the titans are definitely smaller than something like Cuba but it's got varied biomes. There's just so many more things to point to that barely make sense.
I absolutely love this video, it's been cut amazingly, your jokes were really funny and the cut-in to the scenes were really captivating as it made me remember things I forgot about and I was able to envision the things you were talking about. The length of this video made this seem like ''The Arkry Special'' since it's also what you've been building up to with the start of your channel. You began speculating about a potential P3 Remake and explained your expectations and hopes, then there were rumors until it was finally revealed. You went out of your way to make videos about updates and now that it's finally out, you played and reviewed it. At the end it feels like a big weight has been lifted off your shoulders and I hope you continue to amaze us with your beautiful editing and creative mindset. I'm looking forward to your next one and I hope you get some well deserved rest after working on this video for almost a year. Thank you so much for sharing this with us <3 TLDR: its peak
Thank you :D it did feel pretty special to put this out after all the speculation videos
Great video, glad you were able to let out your general thoughts and show passion towards Reload, and why Persona 3 meant a lot to you and how this Remake manages to still capture what you loved about it and more so
Glad you enjoyed watching it!! It was fun to talk about the game on your channel in that one video too haha
Awesome video!! I remember our talks about Persona 3 Reload last year and your possible concerns and things you were excited for. And I also remember your remake speculation videos with the start of your channel. We've come quite a long way since! I'm very happy I finally got to play this game and experience Persona 3 for the first time this way. I remember I told you this could be my favorite Persona game, and as of now I'm still unsure about that, but I can definitely say it's most definitely my favorite story in the series. The story of SEES and the dark hour, the way it's all paced, and the amazing ending were all so worth it. Also Tartarus wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, especially since I did a lot of runs on Steam Deck haha
That's awesome that this is your favorite Persona story! And even if this isn't your favorite Persona game, that's kindoff a cool aspect of the series. Each game feels really unique in their own way so everyone can just pick the one that they resonated with the most as their favorite, and since they're all incredible games you can't really disagree lmao But thanks man, I'm glad to know that you enjoyed the video! It was always fun to discuss P3 with you :D The Steam Deck does sound perfect for Tartarus haha
Do u mind not showing yourself, nothing against you, its just when people do this, I find it disorientating
Yeah, no jumpscare warning too 😢
I'm sorry if it disorients you, but this is the type of content that I like to make as this is also the style that I personally prefer to watch. But I don't use my camera in every video, so hopefully you can still enjoy some of my stuff :D
Why would you say that? That’s so rude
Great video <3
Is this that Metaphor spin-off???
Wrong Persona game, you're thinking about 5
The most surprising thing about this video was hearing something positive about Rebirth (Queens Blood)
Gotta give credit where credit is due
@@Arkry_ when you play FF 8 you'll realize even Queen's Blood is shit compared to Triple Triad, the best mini game in any video game ever
You are dope! You should have 100k+ subscribers already
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that :D
Let's make it in VR !!!
41:02 He doesn't know 3 is also a chronologically after automaton!!! 🤭
I'm way to excited for this! nice little look into it!
It's peak 😎🔥
The new team up attacks cost 2 turns from the party members you can see what party member he teams up behind the character
Thanks for letting me know! I didnt realise it took up 2 turns but that is a pretty fair tradeoff
@@Arkry_ y to be fair the turn icons are really small in that menu but so do you know if they have like a cooldown? Or can you just spam them
If this is Meta 4 do I have play the previous Meta trilogy
Nah theyre mid, wait for the remakes
META 4
exactly!
Playing the demo made me really excited for this game. I wished I got to try out the other ones but the game will be out soon enough :D Also it gives me Fire Emblem vibes lol
Yeah same haha, I dont know what it is exactly but there's something about the vibe that reminds me of FE
Yeah
Yup
Do I need to play Simile before I play Metaphor?
Oh my god I arrived
The Arkry video I've been waiting for!!!
hopefully it lives up to your expectations haha
He’s also making another RPG game called The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. And it’s in collaboration with Kotaro Uchikoshi, the creator of Zero Escape. Another great game developer btw
Yesss I'm super excited for that, the trailers look great and thats a really interesting collaboration!
Fantastic review! FFIX is my favourite game of all time - I finished it when I was 12 and although it’s hugely nostalgic for me, your appreciation for the game after playing it as an adult is testament to how timeless and special it is. I can’t wait for the remake ❤️
I can confirm that is not a slime from Dragon Quest Also I absolutely am playing this, looks pretty damn good
Scarlet nexus???
Scarlet Nexus!!!
I'm really curious to try this. However I don't like how almost all the games are going gacha these days and I will probably drop it because of it or only do story if that's even possible, since I'm already playing so many gacha. It's tiring and I also would've rather paid full price but it is what it is. Hopefully next they are doing Rain Code 2 or at least something instead of putting all their energy into this because then we might as well go with no new game for years like NieR.
Yeah it's pretty exhausting to keep up with gachas. Their next game is Hundred Line tho and after that probably a Raincode sequel (i hope)
They do have a new Danganronpa-type game coming out this year or next year for the Switch. They are likely going to use the money they earn from Tribe Nine to fund their future projects. So, if you like the devs, it's worth supporting Tribe Nine.
@@milmil5350 Yeah I will test it out and support it if I like it :D But if nothing is interesting me I won't force myself even though I love Danganronpa or Rain Code
I understand you are talking about your personal experience but I just want to point out that as a proper critique, 99% of this video is wrong and history proves it. Storywise, what you wanted from it is exactly what Takahashi did in the past. Do you know what he got from doing what you wanted? He got fired and lost funding twice, that was his reward for creating the greatest JRPG story ever written. XC1 was his last chance. Instead of going 80% story/20% gameplay he tried 50-50. He hired a proper script writer to trim his story down for XC1. This is also why the Sharla chapter is a story lull. It was never a mistake or accident, Takahashi knew the intro chapter had to be story focused to introduce the setting and themes so naturally the next episode had to be gameplay focused if he were to achieve that 50-50 balance. Likewise, it is no coincidence that new gameplay concepts stop being introduced as the story picks up. It was all carefully planned. It is ironic that you compare this open world design to Zelda BotW when the latter wouldn't exist without the former. It is also funny that you criticize the trimmed story of XC1 when Zelda BotW's open world design is the trimmed, baby version of Xenoblade Chronicles X. This is why Nintendo funded Takahashi from the start, to create the engine and direct the map of Zelda BotW. I understand your sentiment of disappointment. As a story, XC1 is a kids book compared to Xenogears. As a game, it is also a shadow compared to Xenoblade Chronicles X. But as a project, this is the only JRPG I would say has the right to stand in the holy trinity with Chrono Trigger and FF7 (or FF6). Xenogears was pitched as FF7. At the time, it was deemed too complex. FF7 had 3D characters on 2D backgrounds that aged horrendously. Xenogears had 2D characters on 3D maps with platforming. Takahashi was pretty much fired soon afterwards. Today, FF7 Rebirth is a AAA remake that took hundreds of millions of dollars to make and it sold poorly. Each Xenoblade costs a fraction of that to make and sell more and more. The map of Zelda BotW and Xenoblade Chronicles X is the result of that development team who got fired for creating one of the 1st 3D JRPG platformer. I could elaborate on why you are wrong about every other point you made besides being able to switch party members on the fly, like how good XC1's side-quest design gives you things like rebuilding an entire city, unlocking secret skill trees, discovering the true identity of one of the Faced Mechon you kill in the main plot, tons of character development through heart-2-hearts, etc. but I fail to see the point since it's a skill issue (a bunch of western gamers like you don't know how to do side-quests, they think they have to accept a quest, beeline to it, conclude and only then accept a new one. It is similar to the issue where western gamers assume a game is grindy when they fail because they can't try a different strategy and assume grind is necessary). You say this open world is vast and dull but it is you who is naive and fail to perceive the design. It is true that the Nintendo Wii was not powerful enough for physics simulation and irregular terrain (as observed by what Takahashi did in XCX and Zelda BotW) but that does not mean the mostly flat world is devoid of meaning. Every single corner of XC1's world has a point to it, be it a mining spot for crafting a stronger gem, a boss that gives you better gear, a collectible that unlocks deep lore in some quest, a vista that gives you EXP and a teleport spot, etc. XC1 is not one of my favorite games. I don't like it very much, both gameplay-wise and story-wise. But even then I can see it is without a doubt a masterpiece of game design and there is very little valid criticism I can direct at it. Most of your video wasn't it, for every argument you make I can point to 10 counter arguments in the game. For example, your criticism of the couple fights where Shulk does only 1 damage? That was not an oversight, it was storytelling. Yes, it is a bit annoying gameplay-wise but it is a reminder that the Monado can't cut people, preceding the story beat where we finally unlock the power to cut people. How can you say in good faith that this is bad game design? Again, I understand you are talking about your subjective experience but if you don't know why the designers put something there because you didn't engage in some side-quest that points to it then what could possibly be the point of your criticism? Isn't it just naive? As another example, one of what you call the early fetch quests points to a mini-boss that not only gives you cool equipment rewards, but it is specifically designed to beat you at the recommended level unless you apply the Break>Topple mechanic. My suggestion is, if you want to criticize something, try to understand why they are the way they are first. You made an hour long video and the only point I can see any validity is the ability to swap party members on the fly but even then I know exactly why they didn't implement this (hint: warn your ally about your vision). So again, it was not a design mistake but a choice.
Honestly, this made me so much more excited for the full release. I'm jealous I didn't manage to get into the closed beta... maybe next time!
I'm glad you liked the video :D but yeah this was just the first playable beta, I'm sure they'll do more!
There are actually _alot_ of connections to NieR beyond just Ending E: - nearly all the weapons reappear in the 3 NieR games, it's just they sometimes change their names, typically because they are more accurate translations of their japanese names (e.g. the "Kingsblood" sword is known as "Ancient Overlord" in Japanese, and the NieR games opt to call it by it's Japanese name) - weapon stories began in Drakengard, and reappear in the 3 NieR games. The returning swords have similar but altered weapon stories with each incarnation. NieR Re[in]carnation in particular has a plot built around weapon stories, even establishing a lore reason for them existing: to store data about different timelines - the final level in DOD is a modern/futuristic city despite the game being set circa 1100 AD. DOD3 eventually elaborates that this city came from the future and that it is the origin of the Accord android and "magic." NieR Re[in]carnation, SINoALICE, and various YoRHa stage plays also elaborate that dragons were (magical?) weapons developed by androids. DOD3 also elaborates that the fantasy creatures are actually just genetically engineered, just like the giant cyclops - all throughout the game, the Empire is shown to have futuristic technology for the time period, the floating fortress and ocean fortress seem to resemble certain goliath machines in Automata - gargoyle cubes re-appear in NieR Replicant (and Automata anime when they visit the location in Replicant) - Manah is literally the first Red Girl - the Seeds of Ressurection/Destruction appear in an Automata stage play, then the YoRHa Dark Apocalypse raid in FF15. It is implied to be the true origin of machine cores and black boxes. 2B literally uses a Seed to bring 9S back to life... - before WCS or the Logic Virus, there was "Red Eye Disease" in DOD. Dialogue also describes the imperial capital as being "polluted with evil" - Pacts exist in NieR, it is pretty much how the WCS, Gestalt Project and Logic Virus work... - both NieR and DOD are described by Yoko as being "retellings of Evangelion" - the Ending E Mother Angel battle was supposed to be a singing competition with an Idol singer, since then Yoko has had an obsession with J-Pop idols, to the point DOD3 has straight J-Pop as boss battle music, the Devola/Popola fight in Replicant is animated to resemble a J-pop performance, and in 2012 Yoko created a J-Pop idol group called "YoRHa" which had a stage play. Aforementioned "YoRHa" idol group also produced the J-Pop boss music in DOD3. In 2014 Yoko decided to make "YoRHa" into a game, that game would become known as *NieR Automata* - in NieR Re[in]carnation, the Red Girl merged with a human AI and froze the entire earth in time in the same manner Seere did in Ending D - in concept art for the Forest Castle in Automata, they state it was built by the Empire/Cult of Watchers
I feel so blessed that I was introduced to FF with IX back in the PS1 days which led me on a massive FF binge. Will need to pick up the remaster and play through it again.
FF9 and FFX are, in my opinion, peak Final Fantasy. FF9 was my first and, as you are now well-aware, overflows with such much charm and identity that it made me an instant fan of the genre and this series. The little character quotes in the FF9 instruction booklet live rent-free in my head even 30 years later. This was a great video and reminded me some of the reasons I love the game so much. I hope the remake, should it ever materialize, doesn't change too much about the characters (likenesses, dialogue) because they're just so perfect as-is here. Btw, if you're ever looking for another game to review, FFX also has an incredible story and characters and it's clear they put a lot of time and effort into making everything feel as cohesive and purposeful as FF9 was (just in a more tropical setting, of course). Definitely recommended.
Thank you so much!! I also really hope it's a faithful remake, it can use voice acting and QOL changes but I don't want them to touch the story too much either. In terms of FFX I was actually planning on playing it later this year so there's a good chance I'll make a video on it! :D
Finished a week ago (started at day one but dropped) Im a Tales Of Berseria enjoyer and TOA for my POV has Splendid graphics and the Ufotable anime moments are incredible as always, but that's all...combat system is fun but get repetitive and annoying + story mega based and simple. The DLC pls DON'T buy it, is terrible and cringe
Amazing review. And fair about its gameplay criticisms. FF9 isn't my first final fantasy too but it became my favorite final fantasy of all time. It honestly ticked all the checkbox for me. It's weird that I feel nostalgic about it despite me being late to the party to play it, but as the more I played the game it made me realize that this game is something special. I hope the remake, if it's true, do it justice because more people need to know about this game!
If I remember correctly, one of the samples used for a part of Leo's section is from A Love of Three Oranges. And there was a part for a sample of Romeo and Juliet in Aurioch's Madness. Make of that what you will. Someone made a list of the samples used in Drakengard, for those who want to know.
It's one of the few FF games I have a lot of trouble getting into, the other one being FF5. Both seem to lack a story focus and go on about 30 hours longer than they should have,. I think FF9 would have been a great game if it were a 10-12 hour game, but it doesn't have the story or characters to stand up alongside most of the other FF games from FF4 onward. Vivi is the only interesting character, and mostly because he's a G-rated version of a Replicant from Blade Runner, and the story barely had anything to do with the game, it was just a random scenarios. That said, FF9 is still a lot better than 5, if only for Vivi, all FF5 has is a great environmental art style. FF Tactics does basically everything FF5 wanted to do, and utterly destroys it. The old FF games, 1-3, are similar to FF5 and FF9 in terms of the Mary sue ensemble cast, and the "This happened and then this happened and then this happened" style storytelling, but FF1-3 do not overstay their welcome. Sorry, I'm complaining, and a bit off topic. The one thing that really killed FF5 for me was that every time you made progress, the game clipped your wings and sent you off on the next random task, and the story more or less resets like three times.
There's a few settings you can use to tweak the battle system a little bit, but the game doesn't do a great job explaining that. Firstly, you can increase the ATB speed, but I'll admit even at max settings it can feel a liiiiiiittle slow. Another big one though is the Active vs. Wait modes. By default the game is in Active mode, but in Wait mode, when you're in a combat submenu (items, magic, skills, abilities, etc.) the ATB timer stops moving. So, you can, for example, browse through your white magic spells or items at your leisure without your enemies continuously attacking you throughout. It's nowhere near a fundamental game changer, but if you ever play it again it might ease a bit of the tension.
My favorite game for over 20 years, and still each time that I play it I find something new to marvel over, at each point the more I thought about FFIX the more outstanding it became to my, truly a masterpiece among masterpieces. Even Tetra master rules imo, it's my favorite card game in FF. But I admit that the explanation on how it works could have been done better. Cant agree with the other criticisms though except maybe battle speed
awesome to see that the game connected with you that much, critisisms are always subjective anyways and even with the gripes that I have with it, it certainly is a mastpiece
