Hello, minasan! 😁🙇‍♀️ I hope you're having a wonderful day! Today's video is a little bit about the Miyako Odori, as well as my kitsuke inspired by the famous blue kimono worn by the maiko for the performance! 👘 The Miyako Odori takes place every spring in April at the Gion Kobu Kaburen-Jo Theater in Kyoto's Gion district. 🌸 This performance has been taking place since 1875! That's a long time! I've never attended the performance but hope to go someday! 😁
(Fun fact- the kimono I'm wearing is actually a pattern called 'bingata', and it originates from Okinawa! 🇯🇵)

What Are Habutae? (I Made My Own!)

Let's talk about 'habutae' today! 😁 These are the special wig caps worn by geisha and kabuki actors under their katsura wigs. This helps keep the hair flat and gives a smooth surface for the wig to sit on, while the white tape part pulls the skin tighter to raise the eyebrows more. :) You can find habutae online to purchase, but it can be a little expensive so I made my own! 😁 Please be sure to...
