Hi Hal (if it's your surname) first sorry for my poor english being from Montreal I don't practive very often my English. I jus want to say thank you for your excellent review of this piece of equipment, i wasn't sure to buy one but i'll go for it. I was wondering if you tried it with a bench and I would love to see another video with all the possibilities of exercices that the machine can deliver✌. Keep up the good work...and a message from my wife: she finds you elegant, well spoken...and cute (watch out men we're a couple for more than 40 years now😉🥰) je te souhaite une merveilleuse route de vie!
Honestly, it looks like junk.
The pads don't bother everyone,it's not a deal breaker for me at all.. I have more questions about how symmetrical these rowers are,I have the body solid rower.
Appreciate you taking the time to make this.
Any update after three years? I’m considering getting a vertical leg press, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it or not.
Greetings friend. I watched your video and it is excellent. I wanted to ask what the sliding system is like - linear bearing or bushing.?
I bought mine off of Craigslist pretty much new , it was only $100 . It was used only 5 times .
How have the cables and pulleys held up ? How long would you guess that they`will last ? .Thanks
Had this for three years now and they are still smooth as day one. I do use silicone lube on them about once every two months. How long they'll last is tough to say, but I'd wager at least 7 to 10 years depending on frequency of use.
@@halvorse and then simply replace the cables, bushings, and pulleys ?
@@billwill1337 yep! I'm sure putting new cables will be a huge PITA, but that snd pulleys would really be the only things to replace as needed.
@@halvorse thanks 👍
I don't know if you did it yet but I would love a video of all the exercises you do on here, particularly any leg exercises. I assume you can do a reverse leg press using that strap. Also, I'm 6'4". Do you think this machine works for tall people?
All lines of PowerBlocks are very good. The best balanced of the current models are the Elite and Sport 50's. The Pro's are good but with the adderweights in they are top-heavy. The sport 50's don't have removable adderweights but they are there (they are fixed and don't float around)...and being that the sport line have the smaller height they are very well balanced. The sport exp's are very good too BUT being that they have removable adderweights the tube that holds the weights have a larger diameter than the sport 50's which (for me anyway) causes my knuckle to (barely) rub against it. The fix, change out the EXP handle for the sport handle. The Elite line (USA or EXP) are excellent as far as balance. They are basically the original design from 30 years ago: if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Very nice job describing this piece. I recently bought it from Titan on a sale they had for $629 and I'm very pleased with it. I hesitated buying this for a long time because I always prefer to buy USA made instead of Made in China, but after looking at the Legend Fitness 3135 plate-loaded and the EliteFTS plate-loaded leg ext/curl with band pegs, this just made the most sense for cost, space, and fully meeting my needs for performance. I do use the 35 pound plate hack on the stopper peg for both leg extensions and leg curls and the resistance curve is actually quite good. Just a note from 13:06 in your video where you set the machine up for leg curls - you need to have the weight post on the opposite side of the stopper peg because the post travels upwards in the opposite direction as it moves when performing leg extensions. I know you don't use the stopper peg so that was an easy oversight to make. I'd say for a home gym or small personal training studio, this machine fits the bill for 99% of the population and you won't be compromising quality of movement for the extensions and curls compared to much more expensive and larger units. It took me about two hours to assemble and dispose of all shipping materials, but I didn't rush. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase and satisfied that I made the right decision buying it.
Take the adderweights out. Problem solved.
Where did you get the plates bro?
Glad I watched this....have to save up for used Hammer Strength
Dont round your lower back you absolutely can herniate l4-l5, l5-s1 like that
Pretty sure they all have that pin system. All brands is what i mean
Does anyone have any issues with the cables/pulleys yet? Like drag points and them not being as smooth?
I got solid stainless steel volcano knurled grips for my powerblocks and love them. Another pro that is not mentioned by a lot of reviewers is that you can change the weights without bring it back to its cradle
If only you had something round with a 2" hole in the middle to put on the stopper pin to keep the weight arm higher at the start of the movement
How are they holding up? Considering getting the rep ones, but worried about the 1/2" tolerance of measurement, and I saw a video where the mats have a slight difference in height as well so the gaps are super noticeable. What's your experience with smell as well?
They're still doing great! Maybe it was luck, but all four of the ones I received were very close in dimensions and height. The smell dissipates quickly, I left them in my garage for two days or so before bringing them inside. The biggest issue was the excessive rubber crumbs. I swept the snot out of them but there was still a rubber crumb trail all over my house as I brought them in. Once they're in place though it's a non issue. I did however put a tarp underneath them to prevent any possible rubber oil staining on my floor.
The extension machine seems pretty nice, but I have a leg extension/ leg curl attachment that attaches to the end of my fixed barbell bench and seems to do a pretty good job of stimulating the quads and hams. Plus I have only 66 lbs of Olympic plates and 500 lbs of standard plates that my leg extension attachment already uses. I'd have to buy more Olympic plates and that's another $100 to $200. I have a vertical leg press machine like yours, but it's made by Yukon and I like it. I love back-supported leg equipment and hate standing squats. I like belt landmine squats as well. I have my eye on that Titan Hack Squat/Leg Press machine for $1,900, but I'd hate to spend all that money when I have the Vertical Leg Press machine already like yours. Do you think you will ever need that Titan Hack Squat machine if you have the Vertical Leg Press machine?
thanks bro!!!!!
This review is accurate. I had the Powerblock Urethane model 5-50 lbs. and also the Iron Master. I used both during the Pandemic, but I used the Powerblock WAY more because changing the weight is sooo quick and easy. But the Iron Master felt exactly like a gym dumbell and these had weight distribution issue when you reached the top of a bicep curl or shoulder exercises. On other exercises, like dumbell bench press or flies, not any issues at all. I tried to find the Stage 2 and as I outgrew the 50lbs but no one had any in stock and felt like they might not make them anymore. So I sold mine in 2021 for equal to what I bought them for. Now i want to start working out at home again and was looking at this model. So when he mentioned the weight distribution, it related. I will use the Iron Master and see if I can mentally <get used to> the slower weight change process - slap and tighten a plate on one side then the other, then repeat for the other dumbbell. ugh!
Powerblocks are way better than Ironmaster and some of those "cons" can be viewed as just an extra challenge or simply more forearm work and it's really not a big deal, also.. you can now get knurled handles for most Powerblock models. They made this model, Pro EXP, up until very lately.. so they did not stop making them. Now they just released the new Pro 100 though and no longer sell the Pro EXP, only the Pro 50 and such.
@@Sommitps Do the new Power Blocks come already with knurled handles or will you need to buy them separate and swap them in?
Pasa las medidas xfa
thanks for the review
Do you also have some tension om the guide rods?
Yep sure do.
That strap is simply amazing for doing controlled squats...definitely try it! Best piece of gym equipment ever bought
Have you tried decline bench press using curl bar on this?Would appreciate if you can make video on it?
Also, once it’s assembled is it able to be moved at all or do you need it build it precisely where you want it to be? Thanks!
You can assemble most of it before placing the weights to move it. Once the weights are on you'd need 3 to 4 good strong buddies to move it.
Does this need to be bolted down or secured in any way?
No it weighs so much there's no fear of it moving.
Do those models have a coating over the metal? They look bulkier than the sports or exp model.
They sure do. It's an urethane coating so they are a little quieter and a bit more drop resistant.
@@halvorse ok cool. Thanks
Sports have a better handle than the Elites.
I love my Sports and the balance thing doesn't bother me. I had the Bowflex before and I loved them but the long bar at even low weights was awkward. When I worked out with the Powerblocks, I fell in love because they had much more of a dumbbell feel. I own three sets (selling one).
Do the outer weights make it more difficult to lower the weight such as when curling? Maybe a benefit for resistance?
@@PlunderRoad The curls definitely add a challenge to them. I can work with them but it does take some getting used to since they're front heavy.
Are there companies that will put this together for me? Thanks!!
If you order from Costco or Amazon they may offer an installation service for an extra fee. However, its minimal tools required and overall a pretty simple installation. If physically able, I would try it myself first before paying more.
I have an Inspire FTX coming in, mainly for my wife. How are you liking it thus far? Thanks.
Absolutely love it! Had it for over two years now, and I would 100% purchase it again. It's a legit commercial quality piece that takes up very little space.
I did a review video on it too if you wanna check that out.
@@halvorse yep. I watched the review. Was just curious on your most current opinion. And congrats on the PR. I hit 345 with my wife apprehensively spotting me. Haha. Not sure I'll go for anymore at my age.
@@Sonic_1000 ah gotcha, my opinion of it then has only gotten better and better. Thanks! I had my safety straps in place, not sure if my wife could've spotted me lol. Congrats on 345 too thats heavy stuff!
I’m 6 foot 1 do you think I’m too tall for it? An important workout I want to do with it is tricep rope pull-downs
I would say no especially since you can lean your torso back for more ROM. However, if possible see if a Costco near you has a floor model you can try out.
Agreed totally on this review. Easy setup, and directly countering the directions, I did it myself. Incredible machine with a huge array of exercises. Price is now close to 2k.
Thanks! Wow its gone up quite a bit since I purchased it.
Did you try one arm at a time?
Yes, but since the machine doesn't have independent movement it became a bit awkward.
Thanks bro!
Iam debating between this machine and the bullet proof isolator?? I have the stray dog goat with all the attachments but i think i will sell it to ether get the titan machine or isolator. Also will get squat max or rhino dont know which one yet🙄?? Been overthinking everyday forever about what to buy between the pieces above😢 moneybis nonproblem right now, the problem is that i dont know what to buy
For durability you 100% need to go for the steel ones. The urethane is subject to hardening and will crack overtime.
But if i had to be honest, speed is really the key especially for me when I only have maybe 45min to an hour to work out per day. If I had all day I wouldn’t mind switching out spinlock dumbbells etc. ala ironmasters. But for me I realize how speed matters. It kinda throws off the flow of your work out. I’m thinking of getting a separate set of handles unloaded so you can swap 5lbs really fast.
I think the USA Elites the originals feel a bit more balanced because they have the bars at the front as well.
I just wish they could modernize the design a bit.
great honest review. That was one of my comments as well was it did feel a bit unbalanced at heavier weights.
You sound like Matt Stonie.
Bro opposite it gives pain
O exercício que mais pega meu cotovelo é francês simultâneo. Mesmo com halter. Só consigo fazer com pouca carga. Ótimo vídeo. 💪
How do I add heavier plates my plates are 25 how do I add 35? heavier plates?
Can you tell me the height of the towers without the chin up bar? Yes, I realize it needs that support but we have a low ceiling and could fabricate a flat bar to keep it together if needed. TIA!
Sorry for the delay its about 77" without the pull-up bar attached. If you can fab something up you can definitely make it work.
@@halvorse Huge thanks for the measurement and with that I can make it work. Tight but doable in my basement.
@@halvorse thanks, we have just enough space to make it work with 77".
seems too narrow for a proper chest fly or really any chest workout variation. how's your experience been?
You're correct it is a bit narrow for flyes, but it still works. My biggest problem is just sliding in my socks because my flooring in the room lol.
