My guess is cougar from all I’ve heard. Sadly in 50years still one critter I’ve not run into while everyone else in my family has. I feel left out. lol. Scary. They are common on the island.

While working in the PNW woods on a winter night…a cougar screamed at me…which made an impression….that was about 18 years ago.

Definitely a cougar, thats what they sound like. Plus being on the island with a HUGE cougar population you will run into them. We lived in Seward many years ago and they used to track people all the time. Saw them myself.

If Sasquatch meant you any harm, you would've been harmed. They are curious about humans, but also know that some humans are very dangerous. Personally, I think they're around watching all the time. I've camped in wild places all my life and have heard bipedal footfall all around my camp and tent many times.

Harry I Know the marine architect that designed the walker bay dingy , you should see if you can find a sail kit for it too , looks like you guys had a nice trip there , I am thinking about heading there this summer with truck and camper can you recommend any places to camp out there ?

There are grizzly bears now on Vancouver island . Be bear aware , they are not docile black bears .

Just watched ur vid ..that was no cougar ...eyes way to high...u wouldn't hear a cougar coming.....and they don't have a long vocalization ...but Bigfoot was probably more likely !!! While glamping just off the roadway in Honeymoonbay lake cowichan on Vancouver Island my wife and i were sitting quietly by the fire and could tell we were being watched by what we thought was someone out on the roadway so i took my flashlight and very quietly snuck out to try and see who it was and just as i got to the spot where we thought someone was maybe 100 meters away we heard what had to be a cougar scream a few times and it was so loud i could actually feel it and then heard what was likely a deer get attacked that sounded so much like a woman screaming for help that i hung around long to make sure i could confidently determine it wasn't.

I think it was a Lynx that encountered. I was camping with my cousin and we heard the exact same thing up near Harrison Lake.

The "screaming" you heard was most likely a cougar. It would be quite shocking to hear it close up in the dark where you cannot see squat. Easy to get freaked out in the bush at night.
