    20:48 just might be the most ignorant things I've heard come out of a human mouth. Mexicans CREATED the cowboy boot and cowboy/rodeo culture as everyone knows it today. I could go on and on but I know I'm speaking at a hollow wall. Most "USA" made boots that are high quality are made quite literally across the street from the factories ariat and everyone else have. Same workers, same everything, just a few hundred feet away so that they can charge an extra $100 to fool people like you

    Thank you so much. Now I feel better about buying *luxrul* knockoffs. I can't afford the real thing. I follow Lydia Elise Millen on RUclips and I really enjoy her vlogs and now yours. Your guidance has helped me a lot. Thanks again

    I have 3 pairs of Nicks in wax flesh I love them all but are a bear to break in, it took me about a month to break them in, now they feel like slippers , extremely comfortable

    • @Highland_Paddy

      I haven't noticed that issue as much with the Nick's overall, but I haven't tried wearing them all day yet, either. I wore the White's for about half a day but was mostly in the car and not doing anything where I had to walk a lot, but I still don't care as much for that foot shape that whichever guy recommended I would prefer wide size was maybe correct, but I see in the OT boots that a wider front also means a MUCH wider heel that can be more problematic in some other ways, so who knows? I got the other boots and did those other new vids more recently now.

  • @AJ-by6pd

    Why they would put that outsole on that boot? It doesn’t make much sense. Then again, the only boot design I like from Grant Stone is their Diesel Boot.

      It's definitely modeled after a traditional upland hunt boot, but could be resoled. And it's nearly MocToeBer, so maybe you'll get in the SPIRIT after all!

  • @paulgarcia1566
    @paulgarcia1566 Месяц назад

    So in your opinion which line is best value?

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy Месяц назад

      Unfortunately, it's neigh just one-size fits all answer. If you REALLY need vintage spec because you are in a throwback band or if you just love the nitro finish and won't play the poly-urethane, then it won't matter that the vintage USA cost way more than the Vintera because that is the only one you'll want. [The nitro finish will age more "gracefully" or handle damage better?] If all you can afford is the MIM, then rest assured that it will function pretty well and the price is charted as being the most consistent for "value" even if a Standard Fender in the old days cost three times as much in today's dollars. The old time Fenders were less Quality Control consistent overall than today's guitars. But if you want the modern neck and the lighter body and can afford the Pro model and the poly finish doesn't bother you, the USA Pro range still might edge out the MIM for this or that reason, even if his percentage chart doesn't account whatever intangibles into the added cost. [Is sound also a thing, that 60s and 50s sound different, too? The cost of the pickups and the sound of the pickups that is worth the extra $150 or $300 or whatever?] I think I said somewhere that the new Performer Tele wasn't necessarily a huge upgrade from the old MIM, but it was also a sale price and pretty much the simple guitar I wanted, but also missing some features I DO want, so the Mod Shop might still be the better guitar eventually than the Pro model if still NOT the better "value". So, annoying as it sounds, it's still a bit subjective at the end the day. Naturally, if possible, try two or three [or five] before deciding upon one or two, but I would argue that having two or three Strats is kind of the norm without being totally redundant, whereas having more than two Teles is starting to become overkill if you're not touring and such all the time. But then I still hafta do another Jazzmaster vid, right?

      Well, I don't know where your winter is, so if you need something more insulated or whatever, there is always that. I'd say they're more water repellent than waterproof, so depends how much it rains and don't know if they've solved some of their distribution issues from this spring or whatever. Like I think I said somewhere, they're mostly fine casual boot if you're not planning to try and treat them like Heavy Duty work boots, etc., but they may have cut some corners in the past couple years, too, to keep price down a bit.

    A tip: Look for ex-hire/ex-rental kilts and highland wear. You can find a worsted wool 8 yard kilt for around a $100 with a bit of luck. Ofcourse you have to add customs and taxes to that but still…

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy Месяц назад

      Almost any time I see a used one like that from US companies, they are usually too short in length or some super narrow waist sizing issue. BUT I mentioned the other day that now UT kilts sizing is getting more close to correct apparently, but still not the same as Scottish wool for sure.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy Месяц назад

      Also apparently easier to find pre-owned in Canada because ex-military use ones and such.

  • @skarn81
    @skarn81 Месяц назад

    Some traditional styled kilts actually do have buttons...but these are for suspenders to attach to for larger kilt sizes. Not generally as a closure device nowadays. I have heard that in the past there were some kilts made traditionally which did have button closures. These are not common and you are correct that velcro and belts are used by most manufacturers as preference.

  • @Highland_Paddy
    @Highland_Paddy Месяц назад

    I don't know if UT finally got their sizing more accurate from before, but the most recent one I got is the same amount across the pleated area in the back but then shorter in the front aprons and doesn't fit large enough now from the previous four or whatever.

    You get what you pay for. A good kilt is more cost wise. A polyester kilt just does not look right to me. Though it is an inexpensive way to determine if your man enough for a kilted life.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy Месяц назад

      Well, if you see my most recent vid, I just got a poly kilt to replace a different one and they can look like wool if they're done well without the itch, but this one I don't care for the feel of the fabric as much or the fact that the brand only comes in too big or too small, but it has a good amount of pleats and all that for times when I want wool alternatives that aren't as horrible and flimsy as typical acrylic, etc.

  • @Highland_Paddy

    I reached my max characters in the Description, but I wonder if the script matches the movie exactly, but I don't think I could just read the scenes on here without getting flagged, either. [Beer supply vs. cheese and other thoughts left for later, such as recurring actors and songs, etc., which has nothing really to do with screenwriting, like I sorta said. Well, sometimes people use songs to set a mood, but those songs don't always make it into the film for budget or editing reasons, etc.]

    • @Highland_Paddy

      Yes, but usually shoe colors and things are not meant to be taken strictly literally. And they brown laces but also black outsoles and black accent along with the yellow in the leather. I'm sure there is no BLACK in black coffee, just dark brown mostly. ???I'm not sure WHAT exactly you're "just sayin'", actually that you think I don't know that coffee and artists' paint water doesn't have a similar vibe.

      All I know is that I think they had a color I liked better that I sent back because that boot didn't fit at all or something.

      I got WAY WORSE heel blisters when I wore the new captains without the inner lining last week, too. Kind of a rough sueded heel bit that rubbed terribly through the sock in less than an hour and still not healed.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 2 месяца назад

      Also, if you didn't see that vid, the Logger model is basically the same thing as the Hero model but with taller shaft, so I wish I would have gotten that one instead maybe but don't know that it's worth extra money. They had a big warehouse sale, so I tried to get a discounted pair, but then the sizing was still off, so by the time I returned them, the bigger sizes were gone and so were the other color of the Captains that never shipped or whatever.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 2 месяца назад

      Correction: I think there was another color of Captain that I liked better that I didn't ORDER because they had the wrong outsole, but they still don't offer all the same colors across all the models, anyway.

    Gavin Mesmer 1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, inaccurate sizing. Very disappointing. Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2024 Size: 46 Regular .. Color: Irish Traditional .. Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) With Saint Patty's right around the corner, I thought I'd grab another kilt since the one I last wore to get married in many years ago no longer fits due to some weight loss. When I saw this one at a reasonable price, I gave it a shot. Upon arrival, there were numerous loose threads hanging throughout the garment. Now, I realize some loose threads happen in a kilt, but this was absolutely ridiculous. After removing the threads, I tried the kilt on. My measurements put me at a 46 according to the sizing instructions in the listing, but the one I received, though marked as "46", fits as if it is a 50. I measured myself again just to be sure that I didn't make a mistake when ordering, and still came up with 46 across my abdomen. The length of the kilt is correct as it ends slightly above the knee, but the width at the tightest buckle pinhole, is much larger than it should be. Okay, enough with the sizing catastrophe, let's get to the overall quality. As mentioned, there where an abondance of loose threads, but along with that, there is terrible fraying across the bottom edge around the entire garment. If there is bright point to this, it is that the pleats are even and consistent, but this does not save the overall poor quality. I cannot recommend this kilt or company.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 2 месяца назад

      I just saw this when I went to look at the BW one again, but the "fraying" he mentions is the selvedge which I explained. He also showed photos that I didn't copy since it's the awful bright green Irish tartan that nobody wants to see, anyway. Don't know what kilt he got married in that ALSO had loose threads, but it couldn't have been much better quality than this one if he thought 30 bucks was a great price or whatever. BUT my sizing issue was far less bad than his and I would still likely give 1 star or maybe 2 for generous since, like I also said, there are actually still kilts with WORSE fabric and such.
