Apparently you haven't played Pokemon games in a while. The question of whether the player is a boy or a girl has been completely dropped in Legends Arceus and Scarlet and Violet, which now ask about appearance instead. And it is likely that this will also be the case in the future generations. In addition, the idea that the Pokemon protagonist is always 10 years old is a misunderstanding derived from the anime. In the games the youngest playable characters had been 11 years old and the oldests had been 16+. The current playable characters are canonically 14. But in the future, it would be nice to see if you could choose the character's age in the same way as today you can change the skin tone, hairstyle and facial features or your body type and height just like you can now in Pokemon Go. And maybe sometime in the future you could even choose your own starting town instead of starting the game in the same place as everyone else. But when it comes to pronouns, I'm in favor of a neutral pronoun that would be the simplest solution instead of typing, although this opinion is a bit biased because I'm a native Finnish speaker.

I've never been that into shinies but I think I can pick out a top 5 after scrolling through the list a couple times. 5. Kleavor (I actually wish this had been its original design since the color scheme works so much better for a Scyther evolution.) 4. Both forms of Zacian, with the Crowned Sword shiny being ever so slightly better (NOT Zamazenta, though. That color scheme is awful.) 3. Suicune (And as much as I despise the Paradox Legendary Beasts, I will begrudgingly admit Walking Wake's shiny is pretty cool, too.) 2. Primal Kyogre/Primal Groudon/Mega Rayquaza (Kind of a cheat entry but the shinies for this trio are like the regular Rayquaza shiny but even better.) 1. Mega Gengar (I kind of hate both of Gengar's other forms, especially Gigantamax Gengar, but shiny Mega Gengar goes so damn hard.) And a couple honorable mentions: -Ninetales (Basically just a slightly different take on Alolan Ninetales, which is my 2nd-favorite Pokémon design of all time after Delphox.) -Staryu, Tentacruel, and Toedscruel (It's pretty obvious that I'm a big fan of the desaturated, lighter color schemes that a lot of the Alolan variants have.) -Chimchar and its evolutions (I like that shade of pink so much more than the default orange.) -Actually, almost every single one of the Gen 4 shinies, along with the vast majority of Gens 5 & 6. I can probably count how many shinies from Gen 4 that I don't really like on both. (Looking at you lot, Lickilicky through Magmortar/Hoopa & Volcanion...)

In terms of unlockable hairstyles, I think Terraria has a great approach, you get straight/wavy/curly hair from the outset, but the later unlock the absurd hairstyles for progression(Like antenna and ufo shaped hair after the martian event), so maybe things like twin-tails or Pokemon theme styles would fit as a mid/late game reward. Also, a lot of games use a mesh for clothing, that then gets applied to the model, so they wouldn't really need new clothing models for different body types. On the topic of pronouns/gendered language, I think a good approach would be some choice like Masculine/Feminine/Neutral, since all the different gendered terms like "miss" or "bro" would need a lot of drop-downs/extra screens. And it's probably best to include examples, like "HE is a Pokemon trainer" or "That's HER Pokemon", as Pokemon also appeals to REALLY young kids, some who might not have gotten to pronouns in english yet. Sorry for rambling, I'm just a big fan of both inclusion and customization in games, and I feel like Pokemon could *easily* do better

I'm not a fan of pronouns to begin with, and because the game is targeted toward kids, a middle ground is just gender neutral pronouns. As for gender, it was never important in the game to begin with, and the way it works now is fine, although I agree that any clothes should be able to be worn by any character. As for body size and height, I think that destroys the aspect of most Pokemon games having you play through as a child with child friends. I'm a very conservative Pokemon fan, but I can get where you're coming from for some of your points.

I think Gen 7 - 9 PEAKED in character customization. except for the fact you can’t wear real clothes in s/v easily the worst part about scarlet violet

I was really glad that the alternative to gender was just not doing it and skipping straight into the customization, makes it way simpler but also diverse/creative. Tho the pronouns part is kinda eh . . . but I guess it's better to let the player fill it.

pokemon npc characters themselves are very diverse, even diverser than our mc options so i think that will get better. maybe thats just me being hopeful & optimistic tho

The Rock Tomb TM is available before Elesa. Ground and Rock was always great type coverage. The player should not rely on their starter for every single major battle in the game. I believe Grovyle vs. Wattson is more difficult than Elesa. All three Unova starters struggling vs. Elesa is not as unfair as the Hoenn games forcing players that chose Treecko to have Breloom, Hariyama, or Geodude on their team.

Pronouns are incredibly complicated in some languages. For example: the German equivalent to he/him/his would be er/ihm/ihn/sein/seiner/seine/seins/dieser/diesem/diesen/dessen. My solution would be to choose your grammatical gender or pronouns and some languages also offer custom pronouns.

“Pokémon” and “improvement” are two words that don’t fit together. Why improve when you get 10 bajillion dollars for the lowest effort product possible anyways? At most they’ll say “type a or type b” instead of boy or girl and then give you the same mii character creator scarlet and violet did

I think the typing in your own pronouns idea wouldn't work for a few different reasons. Pokemon games are ultimately aimed at very young children, children who wouldn't generally have confidence in knowing and writing down their personal and object pronouns. But more importantly than that, not every language uses gendered pronouns in the same way as English. I think it'd be better just to go gender neutral by default, but even that unfortunately doesn't work for languages that do use pronouns but don't have a gender neutral singular (or at least, a gender neutral singular that isn't specifically and expressly for nonbinary folk). Additionally, when given the opportunity to type something in a large amount of people would type in jokes Internationally best option might just be to choose between male, female, and non binary options but to have those only effect dialogue and not hair or clothing options

I think the reason for psychic being immune to ghost was because of a glitch because a character did actually recommend against psychic.

Oshawott really isn't that good for Clay due to Dewott's frail and slow build. If you can get a hit off it's good, but I think Grass types would be far more reliable with their stab and Status moves.
