Pokemon Duel: The game you may have forgotten

- You may know the mainline Pokemon games, like Pokemon Red, Emerald, Platinum, Black and Scarlet. You may also know some of the phone games, like Pokemon UNITE and Pokemon GO, but there's one game that seems to have fallen into obscurity: Pokemon Duel.
It may not be able to be downloaded anymore, but Pokemon Duel was a very interesting and innovative game that mixed up the Pokemon formula and turned it into a board game. It may have not been as widely recognized as the classics from the Nintendo DS, 3DS or Switch, but it's a mobile game that's fondly remembered. So let's deep dive into its story as I tell a couple of stories of me playing the game!

Pokeduel was the one mobile game that I’d play not to pass time it was goated. I was so sad when it went away rip you will be missed.
i remember finding a glitch as a little kid where i like. exploited a free diamond give out and got the reward over and over and i ended up spending it on a shit ton of lootboxes. i had a bunch of legendaries and stuff but i still quit because i got mad i couldnt gamble anymore . core memory
Fun fact: This game was built off of an old physical board game Pokémon had done in 2006/2007 called the Trading Figure Game. They were pretty much identical
I miss this game so much!!!! Glad some people are still talking about it. Hoping someday the Pokemon Company will bring Pokemon Duel back.
The other sad thing about Pokemon Duel ending so soon was that they never even finished the story, it was left on a big cliffhanger.
I don't think their bosses liked that the entire story was basically calling them out🤣

Years ago I saw someone play it, and didn't care about it. A few years after that I was like "oh yeah! Pokemon Duel lemme-" and it was gone.
Both of those feel like ancient memories to me... WHY!?
This game does exist in real life! Its called the Pokémon Trading Figure Game.
A lot of the games I used to play were removed from the App Store. The biggest ones were this, Angry Birds, and Rangers of Oblivion (which got me through Quarantine).😢

I used to play a strategy where I avoided battles by having my figurines pass through my opponents. I think I had shuppets or something.
Did you know that Pokémon Duel had a story mode? Granted it was never fully finished and hidden in a tab on the home screen, but the visual novel quirk of it was unforgettable to me.
I do actually remember it and I was so sad when it was taken off the store
I remember playing this in class. then i graduated hs and decided to open up the app and I fell to my knees when I saw that message
it was sooo fun but it was such a new world for the company at the time and it really showed. the power creep was insane, the story did not even conclude and the ability balancing got out of hand really early on.looking back on it now its more evident comparing it to later pokemon mobile game titles that it was a test to see what pokemon mobile games could become. I wish they would bring it back cuz i grinded the heck out of the game and even with its radically unbalanced gameplay towards the end it was still fun when the odds were in your favor

Absolutely loved this game, I remember grinding for gems only to get the Mew figure
I'm not sure if this game was based in the physical board game, but there was some figurines that looked a lot like these ones, I believe it was called pokemon trading figure game. Just stumbled on your channel and loved your content, keep up with the good work!

I miss this game so much that I ended up making a spinner with my 3d printer and 3d print some figures to play it physically
I did think about making an App to handle the spins (it would be easier to do than print out each wheel and cut it out)
I understand this feeling for a delisted game. I do wish there could be some way to have an officially sanctioned method to replay games like this. My memories go towards Mobius Final Fantasy. I guess it depends on game companies on whether they want to uphold their servers. Especially for competitive games like Pokémon Unite or even Go. I rarely played the Mortal Kombat's mobile game and yet that was good entertainment. Nice to see it be MK9 level of playable. Therefore, the expiration date of the servers does not mean the experience was meaningless!
Loved this game to death, never gonna forget it. I saw a Tabletop Sim workshop project of this game, haven’t tested it though

The whole making this game a physical thing dida actually happen, I think it was around the time of Gen 3, they did the Pokemon Trading Figurine Game. I remember JWittz made a vid about it a LONG time ago, always wanted to try it.

This game slapped man. The only reason I quit it was cause my phone would melt if I tried to play it cause I was playing on an old phone living in the desert.

Masters didn't really replace it they're two completely different games

edit: wait i just finished the video. you seem to not know that this was based on the trading figure game. it released during the gen 3 era. unfortunately the cyndaquil figure was a part of a set that never released

Yes I remember it was adicited to it had to take a break from it for school but when I came back they had Z moves and I just couldn't get past the one NPC not even a boss fight so I quit

shuffle isn't the same as trozei, the trozei sequel and shuffle are both on 3ds
i never played this game because at the time i didn't have a phone... but OH MY GOD i wish i had.. it looks so cool!!! as a pokemon collector... i wish they had released those figurines as merch.. i would KILL for them.!!! (hyperbole) .. especially because like with some old obscure pokemon games they had merch that is really sought after. the example i can think of is pokemon channel's nice cards (released only in japan's pokemon centers for a short time... extremely rare and expensive 😭 i would kill for them, that game was my childhood)
