Is This Battery Tester Worth Buying?
Просмотров 976 месяцев назад
Today we are taking a look at battery tester to find out if it's worth buying.
The Quinn looks like a great value and would be perfect to keep in the car/truck for emergency repairs (like replacing a battery)
Can't go wrong with either one honestly
Yeah for sure Both have pros and cons but the prices are good for each set
I would use the set for working on cars with my dad.
It would be perfect to do it with Thanks for watching and good luck!
Nice set! Thanks for sharing!
It’s a great set for $50 The color coding on the Quinn sockets helps a lot but I think the Tekton ratchet and extensions are better Is it $40 better? For some it is and for other it isn’t Thanks for watching and commenting!
Quinn is pretty nice but i usually just go Pittsburgh unless i need a more durable too tbh, just got a husky mechanic set for 99 tho which im happy with
Those are nice sets I’ve also been wanting a good 1/2” master socket set Part of me wants the Tekton so everything matches but then I see the price difference between it and the Quinn set and I just want to get the Quinn instead Thanks for watching and commenting!
Ive had good luck with tekton tools and quinn. Id personally take this set to my grandparents new house to use for working on their car
That would be a perfect use Thanks for watching and commenting! Good luck
Tip about HF warranty - if you break one tool in a set ( like this Quinn ) you must bring the entire set back ( no missing pieces). If you lose any socket (10mm😢) warrenty can be voided!
I think I heard something like that before but wasn't sure My HF has warrantied stuff for me that wasn't even a lifetime warranty product Do you have a link where it states so?
@@AnthonyTinkers no link I know of. I got the information from another YT video when he broke a wrench and was explaining his experience. Seems like this is why they only sell sets.
I do like the tekton case because of the labels for the socket sizes. All of my cases get loose and many sockets end up falling out when the case gets banged around some.
I love my Tekton set a lot Got mine a few years ago for nearly half what they cost now
Quinn ratchets are Gearwrench in drag.
Yeah I've seen comparisons There's just slight differences in the Quinn to avoid lawsuits but you can swap GW and Quinn internals and it works fine
They are both real nice sets, but forty bucks for the Quinn is hard to beat. Personally I need a small set for my truck, so I guess I would keep it in there under the seat along with some wrenches and a few other tools. Thanks for the opportunity and thanks for the video.
Definitely agree it's hard to beat at $40 Good luck and thanks for watching and commenting 🙂

Looks like a fix that will last forever 😊
I believe so 😁 Wanted them to be made very well and they are
The front wheels are mounted on spindles not axles. Good fix too.
Yeah I couldn't think of the word spindle for some reason so I just called them axles

I wish I could turn my old mower in a fast one
It's not hard just can be finicky measuring everything and trying to get it right the first go around. I had to go to the hardware store several times haha
I bought the new gen 2 to keep in the tow truck i ran. The first time i needed it was a silverado. It couldnt take it off, so i put my ultra torque in the truck the moment i got home.
Yeah the mid torque just needs to be taken off the shelves Ultra torque is so good
The socket sets at harbor freight are great nothing wrong with them and guarantee for life
Absolutely! HF has so many hidden gems
That sponge mat is a great idea
Thank you Helps keep things from getting scratched and my tools from rattling around
I was gonna get the same deal but i already have 2 chargers 😮
Put them on eBay for sale 😁
Quinn 90T ratchets are internally identical to gearwrench 90T and obviously come out if the same factory in Taiwan. You can save a few bucks and go with the quinn. I do like the long handle comfort grip Capri ratchets when you need a little more torque and not ready for a breaker bar. Lastly, tekton makes some great ratchets especially the stubbies.
I totally agree Thanks for your comment I am obsessed with tools
New capri ratchets are extremely overpriced for what you get. The Quinn produced by apex is a good deal if you use a 20% off coupon. Not a fan of Tekton with their price increases the past four years, pricing themselves out of the market just like capri.
@@timweb1510I agree on Capri bring overpriced but I still like them.
@@PaulsToolReviewfair enough and I respect that. I really liked their chrome metric sets when they were affordable. Two years back you could get a 1/4 metric set for 25 shipped. I see them near 35-40 now and I can’t buy at that new price. All their sockets are marred and have dings in them too
Just bought one after seeing a couple of videos showing it taking off nuts torqued to 250lbs and of course it couldn’t even take off my Silverados lugs as well lol returned asap!
Yeah honestly HF shouldn’t even have it on the shelf Get the high torque or ultra torque Some HFs have gen1 ultra torque’s at a pretty good discount
You should try a Koken 3725Z. It has next to no backdrag and I don't think you can beat it for the price.
Ohh yes believe me I have my eyes on one haha I have it saved for later on Amazon
Just FYI, if you need more torque, Hercules now has the cordless Ultra Impact Gun in a 3/4" shank; 1600 ft.lbs. of torque. Havent got one yet csuse they are always out, apparently they are selling so fast they cant keep'm in stock.
Yeah that's the big boy That thing is crazy I love my 1/2 ultra torque
I do automotive for a living and own the Hercules 20v impact driver (5a battery) and 1/2" High Torque (8a battery). The impact driver is obviously good enough for light work, and surprisingly strong for some medium nuts and bolts with 1/2" impact adapters/sockets. I use the High Torque for anything beyond that. Has been enough power for my needs. Very satisfied with their products and like the peace of mind knowing I can just do an exchange at the store if one breaks. I'm also fortunate to not live in a state with rusted vehicles And yes, their Mid Torque is pretty weak. I used it briefly before returning it. Hopefully they make a stronger compact 1/2" in the future
I will probably get the brushless Hercules impact driver soon to use on light stuff as well. I also live in a state where rust isn't a big issue. My reason for buying Hercules is the same as yours. Peace of mind of being close to harbor freight I also hope HF makes a strong mid torque because the current one sucks honestly. It couldn't even remove lug nuts at 140ft lbs
@@AnthonyTinkers a few days ago I decided to buy the Dewalt DCF891 Mid Torque with the 5a Powerstack battery, to go with the Hercules impact driver and 1/2 wrench. That one is for sure strong
Great Vid, I bought the gen 2 on the spring black friday for 150 and did the same deal you did got the battery packs for 100 bucks. I thought that it was a good deal as well. Excited about the 5 year warranty that it come with from day 1. I' debating on buying a second 8 amp battery pack and returning the charger and 5 amp battery since its at a discounted price basically buying the 8 amp battery for about 50 bucks
Thanks for the comment! I will probably get another 5ah soon. I also want to get the impact driver for light work. I am a tool nerd, I love all tools. Wish I could buy them all but I have to control myself
best thing is the 5 year warranty so if u ever exchange now itll be for the gen 2 i use the mid torque for breaks and other things where the ultra cant fit both work great.. just picked up the gen 2 1/2inch mid torque today.
Yeah and with what a good deal I got ($240 for tool, charger, and 2 batteries) it didn't seem worth it to me to get a DeWalt or Milwaukee Yes those brands have impacts that put out higher torque but usually the tool alone is more than I paid for my whole kit
I got it with the 12ah battery and it's a beast. I rotated the tires on all 3 of my cars with it.
That exactly what I did the other day on my lady's car Before I would either have to use a breaker bar to break all the lugs Or run a long hose from Dad's air compressor with an old Ingersol Rand(I believe? impact that takes a few seconds per lug It's an old dinosaur probably not rated for much torque
Just wanted to clarify: If you dont include the socket set I paid roughly $240 for the impact, charger, 5.0 and 8.0 battery Not bad at all
I agree 100% I love this entire new Hercules brushless lineup EXCEPT the compact impacts….theyre trash. I converted the impact driver into compact impact wrenches and it’s stronger and more compact so there is that option.
Hmmm that's interesting How would one convert a drive to a impact wrench Do you use an impact rated socket holder that just slots into the impact driver? I have some of those
@@AnthonyTinkers I took mine apart and replaced the 1/4” collet with a 3/8” anvil

Fill them with foam and they will never go flat. I did that over 12 years ago and your tractor looks brand new compared to my daily use rust bucket
Yeah we try to keep lawn equipment in the shed Keeping things out of the weather really extends how long things can last
I may tube them!
I buy the tools and batteries BOGO so most of my tools and batteries were half price. You can't buy 5 amp hour batteries for 37. Bucks anywhere else and the charger was 17. (Half) And half off the Hercules tool.I saved about 100. Bucks for all 3
Yeah overall I like the Hercules lineup but the impact in my video should be taken off the shelf
I would take it back, I have most of the Hercules tools and the Bauer and some are great but couple of them are weak.If I don't like the tool I put in back in the box and it gets returned,no problem.
Yeah I ended up returning it I was disappointed Kinda put a bad taste in my mouth with Hercules tools but I know the high and ultra torque impact wrenches are the ones to get
Bead leak try bead sealer or just tube them
Yeah tubing them would probably be the best course
I didn’t like it. 😭😭😭
Yeah it was nasty
Well you bought Hercules, what did you expect lmao.
The Hercules line of tools is generally regarded as pretty good among the tool community
@@AnthonyTinkers ehhhh, depends who you talk to. Diy’ers and hobbyist’s sure. But at the end of the day I’ve never, ever, seen Hercules on a job site. Doesn’t hold up good long term
@@thezipper100Maybe you haven't seen them on jobsites doesn't mean they aren't I'm sure the big contractors just stick to the name brands The Hercules tools feel like a quality tool, and I have no doubt it would hold up long term especially now that HF has a 5 year warranty on a lot of the lineup But this particular impact wrench does not perform what it's designed to do
@@thezipper100this past year I've seen 2 hercules users out on site. I own 90% of the cordless Hercules and the 50%of the corded lineup, bigger items. They work great but then again I'm not chucking my drills off roofs into the back of a truck like milwaukee users. The brushed hercules were meh but the brushless really stepped up. Except for the 20v compact impact 3/8 and 1/2 those two are terrible and the 2nd gen was even worse but the ultra high impact is a beast. In the last 5 years I've only had 1 hercules tool fail, my brushed impact driver (it runs too high), it lasted almost 5 years of near daily use.
It would be great to compare them to the Advanced Auto Diehard comfort grip 90 tooth ratchet
I'd love to do so many ratchet comparisons Buying a few ratchets at time cane be pricey though

The quinn is basicly a gearwrench 90xp. Tektons are awesome
The backdrag just seemed awful to me on the Quinn. Which was very surprising given it's pretty much a Gearwrench 90T, which a lot of people love. My tektons have way less backdrag. Stay tuned will be taking a look at more ratchets in the soon.
Interesting, I have the gearwrench 3/8 and 1/2 that I immediately recognized as being virtually identical when i saw these new "Quinn" versions in the store last weekend. The ones I have already had pretty good backdrag, especially the 3/8, but now I'm thinking I might check my 1/2 later - I'm surprised you'd be disappointed at all. One thing I do right away with new ratchets though, is replace the lube with superlube which improves backdrag noticeably. I hope they release a long flexhead version of these at some point.
I made sure the Quinn I had was well lubricated. Have you completed your Gearwrench to the Quinn ratchets? I'd be interested to know your experience comparing the backdrag of your GW to the Quinn
If these aren't being officially made by Apex (by whatever company in Taiwan that they use) for Quinn(Harbor Freight),then these Quinn 90 tooth ratchets are Gearwrench clones,correct?......And if so,why isn't Apex suing Harbor Freight over stealing this design from Apex?.....Or am I missing something?
That's a very good question, maybe the design isn't patented? Or maybe I misunderstand what a patent is? Or maybe the design is ever so slightly different in the Quinn just enough so Apex can't sue Harbor Freight
Obviously hf has a contract with apex to make these, think man
Hello, IMO, back drag in ratchets is so very overrated, but that being said. The design of both those ratchets is basically the same on the inside. The tekon uses screws more similar to the Icon ratchets, and the Quinn has the snap ring, but if you compared them inside they would be the same. The switches have a hole drilled in them for a small spring with a plunger or cap, if you compress or weaken that spring your back drag will be less, but if it's too weak the rachet will self reverse on you and get hung up. Koken ratchets are world famous for the lite back drag, they have a special design inside, but they are pricey. Try a regular Pittsburgh pro ratchet. There design is different and they have very little brack drag. Just my thoughts, thank you for video.
Thanks for all the info and commenting! My issue with the Pittsburgh ratchets is that you can put the direction selector switch in the middle, and the ratchet will free spin. Back drag may be a bit overrated but comparing the Quinn to my Tekton, the Tekton has way less. Overall though I think the Quinn is a solid ratchet for $25.
@@AnthonyTinkers ya I recently bought the Quinn's myself, because they where basically the gearwrench with a better color handle, and where cheaper than the GW. The same tool manufacturer is producing the Quinn's, Gearwrench ( at least the straight handle) , Husky, Duralast,Master Mechanic, and probably some more I left out, but basically they are all the same with some different tooth counts here and there.
It’s odd the ratchet is made like a gearwrech. Looked it up, completely different companies. BUT both use foundry’s located in Taiwan. Another cheaper brand to look at is SATA. They actually are owned by gearwrench’s parent company Apex. Little cheaper ratchets, but work just as nicely as GW’s.
I used to have a Sata 1/4 and 3/8 socket set and was super impressed at how nice the rsctbets felt for a 72T. Backdrag was very impressive and I liked the overall design. I've heard people say the Sata 120T is the same as a GW 120XP
Nice review! Look forward to future videos!
You don't even like tools! 🤪
@@AnthonyTinkers but I like the guy who loves tools. 😝
Couldn't think of the word back drag to save my life lol But to clarify, the Quinn has a lot of back drag
