the two gods who failed for the same reason
Eren Jeager & Light Yagami were both given power akin to godhood. They each set off to make their mark on the world, and achieve their goals. However, what if I told that that these two characters, despite having powers akin to godhood, still ended up failing in the end?

Studio Ghibli's "The Boy and the Heron" won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 2024 Academy Awards, but not everyone agrees with the decision. Netflix has been heavily invested into the growth of its anime catalog. “Cyberpunk Edgerunners” just won anime of the year, and “the way of the house husband” animated a series many thought was impossible to do. Netflix clearly sees an opportunity in the Anime genre. They have been steadily increasing their library of titles over the past decade, with no signs of stopping. In fact, they are dou...

Bro I’m at episode 449 and started December last year didn’t skip any
Think you should've mentioned phoenix jones was a drug dealer 😭
I just came here to say I always and will see Light as the hero I don’t watch vids about him because I ain’t trying to be reminded of no tragedy
Eren “failed” because he had no choice. His destiny was determined. He really had no choice in what happened. The future and past exist simultaneously for Eren. When he got throw into that cycle, his future and past were already set in stone. It’s not like some normal time travel story where you can change the past to change the future.
The only people mad that a studio ghibli movie won over spider verse are people that haven’t watched studio ghibli. Across the spider verse is a fantastic animated movie, but so is the boy and the heron. But the fact is that everybody knows Spider-Man. Whether you’re a 50 year old man or a 6 year old kid, you’re going to see a Spider-Man movie. So when a mainstream audience sees something they like not getting an award, they instantly think it’s a robbery.
Though “The Boy and the Heron” is aesthetically well done, “Spirited Away” was much better in every way.
This is so beautiful
Excellent editing!
Across the Spiderverse and its predecessor was awesome, but there is a life that Boy and the Heron had that A the S didn’t reach. I cried so much and every time I watch it I learn something new, whereas Spiderverse was bombastic and fun with some heartfelt moments but incomplete and lacking that touch to the heart
Band wagon
Light was never one to truly rely on others, only use them for his own ends. There's not a world in which I see him changing for the better with that aspect of him undealt with. Eren however, he formed a family with the Scouts, more specifically Mikasa, Armin, Levi, Connie, Sasha, Jean, Historia, and Hange. Eren was not alone, while Light was. Yet Eren took matters into his own hands just like Light, and dragged those who trusted him into conflict, just like Light. In a way, I don't even blame Eren as much as I blame Armin and Mikasa for failing to notice the change in Eren. Armin especially because, dammit he's the mastermind! He's the one Eren should have came to with his visions for them to find a better solution. Both Light and Eren make me mad but for different reasons: I hate Light's guts and I find him relatable, while I expected more from Eren because up to season 3, dude filled me with hope for humanity.
Spider-man was the better movie ,for me atleast,Ghibli is great but this wasn't that great
Where can I watch it tho?
When did eren lose, he won. He achieved everything he planned for. Everything went exactly as he planned
I’m episode 54 and I’m hooked idk what say wow just wow one piece really is the GOAT
how do I watch one piece for free?
I disagree that Eren's desire for the rumbling is justice/revenge. It was for his dream of freedom and his friends. "When I learned that humanity had survived beyond the walls I was so so disappointed. So I made a wish. I wished for it all to be wiped away. I wanted this.. I wanted... to wipe everything away... I'm sorry." - Eren Yeager He’s lived his entire life in subjugation, and finally when he has thought he has achieved freedom, he finds out there’s not only humanity, but no peace. When Eren tells Ramzi he was disappointed, it’s not only because it didn’t map on with his dream in Armin’s book but also because of the strife and conflict he saw beyond the walls as well.
im on ep 72
Fun fact: Both these anime were originally animated by WiT
No? Madhouse is the studio for Death Note. The director is the same though.
5:21 IS THAT STEVE FROM BLUE’S CLUES?!?!
Bro isayama fucked over Eren and destroyed his character in the last couple of chapters. Don't compare dog shit writing to death note. Btw, eren killed his mom.. I haven't forgotten that.
Eren's conclusion elevates his character, and Eren unironically no diffs Light in writing lol.
@osmorca618 you fotta be fucking kidding me.. I swear you anime fans have dog shit standards for story. Good lord.
@@Lord_Vanns I have extremely high standards for stories, that's why Aot is my favourite since it's the most complex and well written story I've encountered. The fact that you can't even conceptualize the Eren/Carla twist says volumes lmao. I can show you what a writing comparison between Light and Eren would look like if you want.
@@osmorca618 Don't waste your time I won't read it.. If you are so competent in understanding 'Good' writing and you think AOT, which was never a love story, changed into a love story at the end and character assassinated Eren is good writing, then you're opinion doesn't matter to me brotha. No disrespect. Go rewatch the series bruh. Isayama fucked AOT at the end and that's an objective fact, not my opinion.
@@osmorca618completely destroys and makes a mockery out of Eren’s love to his mom, destroys his agency, Eren’s view of freedom in 139 is completely skewed compared to every other time he said it, etc. etc.
Wanted to come back and say after I watched this video a month ago, I began watching One Piece. I just finished the Alabasta Arc and am so happy I’m watching now. Looking forward to the future adventures.. Straight ahead! Straight ahead!
watching this now hits different
I watched both Spiderman was such a cool movie and got me excited for a 3rd part But...I watched Boy and the Heron with my mom and after the movie was over She told me "when I past away remember to keep going forward" I fear the day my mom is no longer with me and a simple movie move all those feelings for me and her. Thats how Deep the boy and the Heron went
him consistently calling marley eldia pissed me off
lol that Dad who walked out of Boy and the Heron proves the kind of perspective that most people have towards animation.
Spiderman movie ended in a cliffhanger , which is one of the gripe i have with it and i mean its not award worthy like the animation style was the stick the first time which is now a household style , so there is nothing much else going on there .
eren actually already wanted to become a soldier even before his mothers death
damn i realy feel there arent enough episodes
Great video man. I liked the video and then later on in the video realized I had already liked the video when I tried to like it again😊
im half way through dressrosa am i cooked?
Just keep going at a decent pace. Besides the anime is on hiatus until April right now, so not big rush.
Just keep going at a decent pace. Besides the anime is on hiatus until April right now, so not big rush.
They failed because of the plot
Facts.. isayama fucked Eren and ruined his character
That’s literally the ENTIRE point of Light’s character lol He’s supposed to die. That’s always how it was going to be from the very beginning.
@@tlotrfan3791 yea but his defeat was so contrived it's clear he was defeated by the plot rather than by Near
Knew you were gonna cook as soon as I seen the thumbnail
Just my opinion so no one gets butt hurt but… AOT is hot trash & my anime essay playlist completely shits on it. No would be defender could do so after seeing this.
I looked through your playlist lol. Lost Futures thinks Aot is fascist which already discredits any take he has, Signified B Sides is a media illiterate breadtuber, Saintitchief is a renowned idiot, and I personally debated Spryzen on Aot and destroyed him. So not a very strong selection of content creators lmao. As someone who doesn't get their opinions from RUclipsrs, but instead from their own analysis, I can defend Aot's writing all day. Aot is easily the best written animanga that I've come across, it's genuinely peak fiction.
@@osmorca618just why do you care about him dude,he has "aot is facist" "eren got lelouched"etc etc in like that pretty much describes how he views and analyse the series and its characters 😮💨

@@osmorca618 Love the opinion but Ew another weirdo with this tired, sorry ass argument to try & discredit me. U need to grow up & get some experience lil bro it’s called society, discourse, interaction u ever heard of it? People kinda communicate with each other to either reinforce or change their opinions, I’ve always hated AOT. I just found people that agree & explain better than my monkey self ever could on why it’s bad. & ofc all the 1’s disagreeing with u & shitting on ur fav title have to be some form of idiot, typical anime fan.💀 just a lazy way to discredit them, speaking of lazy ofc u didn’t actually watch the vids. Uk ur side is sad when even the damn author himself admitted to his own series being bad in 4k. & don’t try & get arguments outta me, this playlist exists for a reason. I don’t got the time or energy to waste like that in fact this comment is more than enough taxation from me. Go argue with the top dogs that valitdates my opinion in the 1st place like they did so many others. If they take their vids down or release a debunk vid then I might consider changing my opinion. But peak animanga???💀😭 obviously my ignorant friend has never read a visual/light novel before like umineko. & don’t try & say you’ve watched their adaptations cause anime & their short ass runtime & bad directors never do a novel justice.
Eren jeager did not fail he got everything he worked 4
Meh. Appreciate him.. but this shit was too weird.
the superior film won. Thankfully the correct decision was made.
And Phoenix Jones? Arrested for selling meth to an undercover cop. 😔
😂😂 All heros fall I guess
@ZellyJP All fall victim to their own humanity 😭
Eren never failed
The biggest fault in their plans is that they weren’t gods or demons just flaws humans
I love both shows dearly. I enjoyed this video and I thought your take was valid.
Eren didn’t fail?
huh?
In a way, Light's father Soichiro kind of defeated Kira. He couldn't bring himself to kill Mello, and his death only made Near more suspicious of Light. Mello's gambit is what set up the events to Light's defeat. So by sticking to his sense of justice and not killing Mello, Soichiro indirectly defeated Kira.
Using 60fps AI interpolated footage of The Boy and the Heron is some seriously dirty work. But seeing as not all of it is interpolated, I’d pass that off as not being intentional. Otherwise, good video.
Hey! thanks for commenting! It was 100% NOT intentional, as well as it not being AI. Its the "Optical Flow" Feature in Adobe Premier Pro which interpolates using the frames from the clip to fill the gaps. I was completely unaware that it would turn out like this due to just a lack of experience. But I would never intentionally use AI especially to alter the beautiful hand drawn works of Studio Ghibli.
@ Honest mistake then, I can look past that for sure. Thanks for taking criticism, hope RUclips keeps going well for you!
@@KeWDu no problem! hope you enjoyed regardless <3
Let me equalize your audio
Mate you need to watch invader's Eren video. This video would have had way better contrast.
Ill check it out, It came up in my recommended the other day but I didnt want to watch it and risk it influencing me TOO much to the point where I just regurgitate points they made. But I will for sure take some time to watch it.
@ZellyJP yeah you need to see the light and question your own free will. Best Attack on titan video
@@ZellyJP his video is good and remove major misconceptions but one of the thing he told wrong or incorrect was AOT'S TIMELINE BEING DETERMINISTIC theres another term which isayama takes erens character and its called COMPATIBILISM you can see this during RAMZIS CONVERSATION Eren isn't stuck in a predetermined path because of some outside force. He explicitly states that everything that happened up to that point was something he personally wanted. However, that's precisely why it couldn't have ended any other way. Eren has always been himself, and his strife for freedom was ultimately what bound him to act exactly as he saw in his memories of the future. Whenever he tried to change said future, like when he tried to walk away from Ramzi getting beaten up, he always ended up acting as his memories told him. This isn't because he succumbed to them, but because the future set before Eren is the only future Eren himself would've ever accepted. AoT's timeline is predestined because people will always be slaves to what they want, and if their will doesn't bend to accommodate others, then the only solution left is for them to fight. Also, Eren wanted the rumbling. Saving his friends and the island were definitely reasons for him to act upon his desires, but he explicitly states that those were just excuses to indulge in his desire to eradicate humanity outside the walls due to his disappointment. When Eren tells Reiner they're the same, he means precisely that. Reiner admitted to Eren that saving the world wasn't the reason he kept going with the plan to breach the wall. What he actually wanted was to fulfill his childish desire to be respected by others and be considered a hero. Eren knows that what he's doing is wrong, and tries to cover up his selfish desires behind more noble ones that he also cares about, which is why he could only enjoy the rumbling by regressing to his child self. Also, just to be clear, Eren didn't plan on being stopped from the get go. When he realized he would've been stopped, he still decided that he would've tried the full scale rumbling anyway, as he explains to the others in paths. He wasn't lying when he told them that he was hell-bent on destroying the world, and the only way to stop him was to kill him. He knew that their beliefs couldn't be reconciled, and that even if he got killed, he would've still managed to protect his friends and ensure peace for paradise for a lot of time. However, he admits that if nobody came to stop him he would've simply continued with the genocide. Not only that, but he's aware that his desire to complete said genocide is what brought about the deaths of Sasha and Hange in the first place.
Finally a reviewer who I can agree with
Eren actually won. He got the rumbling, made his friends the heroes, and got rid of the titans
Rumbling was never one of his main goals, his friends were heroes to Marley but still not trusted by their own island + conflict still arose, and he did not get rid of titans.
@@merubala4133thought he did get rid of the titans though?
@@_c3a3m_88 nope the epilogue shows the same titan tree still existing indicating that the cycle is gonna repeat again
@@merubala4133I'm pretty sure that he got rid of all titans through Ymir. The tree that Ymir fell into was in Marley, and the one we see at the end is in Paradis. Anything Titan related vanished or was destroyed when Eren died and Ymir was allowed to pass on.
@@challenger3 What do you think the point of the post credit scene/extra pages of the tree is lol? Obviously the titan powers are returning, but it's left up to interpretation on whether or not it will be another curse or perhaps a power for good.
