How To Not Get Distracted When Studying
Hello, welcome back to the channel! In this video I go through things that have helped me not get distracted when I've been preparing for my exams. This should apply if you are preparing for any sort of exam (GCSEs, A-Levels, University Exams, IB, etc). I spend a decent chunk of this video speaking about ways to limit phone distactions, as that's probably the single biggest source of distraction for students. I also mention how by setting a clear goal and direction, it provides some reason to the studying we are doing, and thus should reduce the probablity of little things distracting us. As always, let me know if you have any questions or queries!

OXFORD & CAMBRIDGE INTERVIEW TIPS & ADVICE
had to pick this subject cause my school force further maths students to take a fourth subject. i dont even care about the economy bro i just wanna do my maths
hi is maths FM economics enough or should i take a 4th ?
is fm doable without the calculator?
I went from a 6 in Feb to an 8 in maths after a couple weeks of revision so I decided to full send it into maths and further maths cause I really enjoyed studying it for GCSEs
Thanks Sam, it helped me and i am noticing the change💓
this is super useful - do you have any tips on what kind of work experience, specific courses, books or lectures to engage in? or competitions to participate in?
I'm interested in social sciences, so I'm thinking of opting for History, Sociology and the third subject I'm confused btw GP and economics, bcz economics is interrelated with politics which is the only reason I'm considering it for A level, should i opt for it? What do u say?
Is it worth doing fm if I'm doing 3 a levels?? I'm doing maths, fm and cs. Maths was my favourite at gcse, and I'd love to do a level fm. I'd also love to do 4 alevels, but my college doesn't allow it.
Yes but you might want to consider physics in place of computer science if you aren’t sure what you want to do. As you don’t need CS alevel to do it at uni, but if you did want to go into engineering you will need physics.
@@evieiscool555 alright. I really enjoy cs but it's going to be useless, so I'll try sqitching to physics.
@@Haidar554 you can do cs if you are sure you don’t want to go into engineering.
You have utilized your day so productively Please give some tips to remain motivated and committed towards studies.
so concise and digestible ,thank u :)
Great effort dude thanks for this masterpiece
yooo, quick unrelated question, which smartwatch are you wearing??
Tuna, corn, and mayo on open face un toasted bread… whew British people
nah it fucks believe me
Great keep going ❤
wait, don't you need evaluation points as well to get full marks?
HI! May I know what your TMUA score was? I am currently preparing for it.
@@ayaanpatowa87 I unfortunately didn’t do the TMUA (I did the ECAA instead). However, here’s a useful document: www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/average_tmua_score_for_economics
Wow, Definitely a wonderful video, I enjoy watching all your videos, it motivates me a lot to study hard and be a great student, I'm studying economics to here in Mexico and these tips are very useful.
just finished an eco exam and his tips helped me sooo much ,Thank you Sam :)
What were your grades in GCSE and A levels?
12 grade 9s in my GCSEs, 4 A*s in my A-Levels
I got so many extracurriculars and I want to apply to UK. It’s so disappointing you said they don’t care about those.
Pirates and even Well educated people will not think of this strategy to get one coin + they can make a deal that if the one making a proposal is kicked out then let’s say N2 proposes himself to get 85 and other to get 5 counts each which will be so much better for them and they will agree so it’s the negotiating power. Also people are greedy so when they are proposed one coin at the start they will not agree and expect more from the next person proposing.
Of course this question relies on a set of assumptions. You can definitely argue that Nash Equilibria like this one are extremely unlikely to be seen in reality, for the reasons you outlined. This is probably the main criticism of game theory as a whole. The point of this question is for the interviewer to see how you think, given that they tell you that all the pirates are perfectly rational. So assuming all players are perfectly rational, this is the outcome we'd expect.
@@SamHillman I am glad that I received such a quick answer from you. So I got another question. You said UK unis don’t really care about extracurriculars ; I want to apply for Either economics and finance or business management. I got 7 years playing football, 2 Model UNs in one of which I got an honorary mention (the only one in the history of my school), National debate competition two times, business ambassador at my school, I am also head of communications at my school. The only relevant thing is that in Model UN I once represented USA in the economic and social committee where the agenda was set to the topic of dedolarization. I am really proud of all my extracurricular achievement and I worked super hard for it. I want it to count for my uni and to be appreciated and help me get into the best place possible. What can I do ? Like are there unis who enjoy students with extracurriculars and care more about them ? Please give me some advice
@@danmkhv It's not that UK unis don't care about extra-curriculars (a lot of UK unis do), it's more that the top UK unis (e.g. Oxbridge) care significantly more about your academics and what you have done relating to the subject you have applied to. What I would personally recommend is to present your extra-curriculars in your personal statement in a way that translates to the subject. For example, in my personal statement I spoke about how debating improved my analytical skills. I also spoke about how being captain of my football team developed my leadership skills. But note, 90% of my personal statement was about academics and/or further economics research I had done, and only about 10% was on extra-curriculars. i.e. when applying to a top UK university (e.g. Oxbridge), make sure that extra-curriculars are only a relatively small part of your personal statement.
@@SamHillman ok thanks, is there a point in including all of them ? Cause it wouldn’t be one paragraph
@@danmkhv it depends on which UK unis you intend to apply to

What’s the max marks you can get in a good 25 marker without a conclusion
I want to apply to Cambridge for Economics and I am currently doing my GCSEs. I want to know that, do most Cambridge (economics) students have all 9s for their GCSEs? If I end up having some 9s and some 8s, will it make my application less competitive?
Hi Sam, it's getting closer to applications can you please do a video on that and share some insights on how you got in cam econ? Tips like how to write our ps how to prepare for tmua and interview will be much appreciated
Do you not use the extract for the 15 and 25 marker my teacher said your points have to be from the extract ??
My goodness! Thank you so much for this video, literally helped me a lot for my upcoming mock exam. This video was so useful. 🤍✨💫
Should I take a gap year and do FM because I’ve realised I want to do a mathematical course at uni?
What’s your structure for 10 markers
I also plan to go to Cambridge. When do i apply and receive an offer from Cambridge. My A levels will complete in 2026.
thanksss i have mypaper 2 on tuesday and do you know any extra case studies for crime and deviance and/or social strat?

Hi, thank you for the video, great content there as Cambridge doesn’t share much of their course structure on their website. Would you have any recommendations on the textbooks on macro micro etc which we could read on, just to have a gist of things?
that handwriting is unholyy props to the examiner marking that damn
Hi Sam is it possible for you to show your paper 2 aqa economics answer as I have macro on Monday and the first one was very useful
Using this for geography too😂
Hi, do you already know what you want to work on once you complete your academic training?
Really enjoyed this, could you go through your paper 2 and 3 as well?
Thats a big help mate, thanks 🤝
at 7:44 when you said you werent sure about why the examiner asked you to justify why a rise in the middle class would lead to a rise in demand for holidays etc you maybe could have used the idea that as wages become very high the opportunity cost of leisure increases aswell so these individuals who are in the middle class begin to seek out expensive forms of leisure basically the negative income effect arguement. (your video was excellent btw and has helped me in my revision for my economics exam on wednesday)
I have exam in 5 days hopefully I can do better
Hi, I would like to ask how important work experience is for Cambridge application or any other universities like LSE, Warwick etc.
I honestly wouldn't say it's that important for Cambridge - they care much more about your academics. Not really sure about the other two.
Great vid could you do macro paper 2
Please, share the books that you are provided for us to read as well
very good video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your teacher not giving you above 20 seems to have led to a positive result ;-) Well done on all your hard work to get to this level.
it probably did! Thank you for the support!
Awesome video. Thanks for giving both the pros and cons. I will probably take it with Math and Physics. Again, thanks for helping me reconsider things.
No problem - glad you enjoyed the video!
hey can you please do the same with paper 2
