You know what part of the presentation frustrates me most? Is when he tried so hard to explain Tibet and Xinjiang issues, saying that China is not perfect but they are dealing with their own problems. Just like any other normal country in the world. You can tell how bad those anti-China propaganda are, that you have to prove so hard to people that China is just normal. When does being normal needs proof?

I am really enjoying Rockhill's talks on this issue. It makes a lot of sense and is resolving a lot of my cognitive dissonance.

Please explain why economies of Global North are declining while those of Global South are rising when Global North is sucking the wealth from Global South? Lenin called imperialism "monopoly" capitalism and defined its special features, i.e. features that distinguish it from pre-monopoly capitalism. Lenin showed a "qualitative" change in capitalism (first negation) by analysing development of capitalism at its monopoly stage, i.e. at the stage of the negation of pre-monopoly capitalism. He described the process by which capitalism made this qualitative leap from pre-monopoly to monopoly stage. He called it highest stage of capitalism because the next negation of it is socialism (imperialism is the eve of socialist revolution). To say that Lenin did not provide any (general) theory ot imperialism and his ideas of imperialism are merely conjectural is to smuggle in old and rotten Kautyskism. From Kautskys' Ultra-Imperialism through Kuwame Nkruma's "Neo-Colonialism: the last stage of imperialism" to Vijay's "Hyper-Imperialism", imperialism remains in essence the same, i.e. monopoly, moribund capitalism living on finance capital, division of the world and wars as inevitable outcomes. The change in the outer composition of imperialism, in its methods of operation and appearance does not change its essence. This is the Marxist Method of distinguishing between the essence and its forms of appearance. Sophistry and aclecticism do not become Marxist methods just by alluding to Lenin while pulling the rug under his feet and trivializing his teachings to fit one's own petty agenda of defending Chinese imperialism.

Great lecture, but I really don't buy the argument for the invasion of Ukraine by Russia at 2:01:50. Even though I definetely get that US, NATO & allies have a significant part of the blame for the war, there's a few things I don't get. 1. I don't know if the "genocide of Russians in east Ukraine" is true, but even if it is, the 14 000 figure (20s after 2:05:41) is small in comparison to the total death toll of the war already, which seems to be anything from 100 000 to multiple hundreds of thousands total. 2. Also I don't think the criticism of a country's totalitarianism is really warranted when it's actively being invaded. Before the invasion, sure, I have heard that Ukraine was kinda totalitarian, (and coup'd by the US) but an invasion is going to make that part way worse just because effective defence requires "totalitarian" means, as all of us socialists should know. I don't think either of these is a serious reason for the war.

Alan Freeman should know that Russia is the aggressor, in '22 left ukrainian territory with mass graves and employs a russification project of abducted children and explicitly does not recognise ukrainian national identity. It's impressive how can a person be so wrong on so many levels.

Strongly disagree with Vijay while praising Imran Khan who takes care of the needs of the masses in Pakistan. He should have understood Pakistani's internal politics rather than commenting on the side of Imran khan. I personally run away from police while protesting for human rights in Pakistan particularly when Imran khan was prime minister. Even there a lot of stories how Imran khan projected far right project against progressive powers in Pakistan

So glad Gabriel included Japan in his talks, alongside Germany and Italy, because so many people have tried to erase their participation in it. And Japan has done its very best to maintain a lower profile to not be "lumped in" along with the other fascist countries. It's really fascinating how quickly people forget, or go out of their way to not include Japan. And Japan has also never apologized for all the things they did to China. It's like it has kept up a facade of neutrality when it has participated in some of the worst genocidal acts in history.

I am over twenty five years older than Gabriel Rockhill , but I came pretty close to his analysis after 1997-- 2001 , on studying the Great S. East Asian crisis , displaying the grave essence of the new economic order of The Washington Consensus , what I called The Neo--Fascism ! Sadly to find out what was termed as neo-liberalism by CIA backed Chicago School of Friedman Economics and adopted by the whole world in the terminology , that was so discouraging to economists that pondered on the content of what was declared as the New World Order later on after 1971 / 79 qualitative changes in The New Bankers' Oligarchies , taking over completely the leading political party leaderships , some twenty years later ! However after 2001 was laid bare this fascistic new content of what I termed neo--fascist Fictitious Kapital social order ( distinct social order from Real Capital described by Marx in The Capital ! ) was in command in West and had taken up the task of conquering the entire world after 1989 / 91 '' fall '' or set--backs of socialism , but not erasing The continuing Needed Alternative for a genuine socialism to replace the Capitalism of The Permanent Wars , that I had called the neo--fascism after 1997--2000 ! I think its important to also keep in mind that socialism is not something for its own sake, but its a process toward achieving a better world that capitalism and imperialism cant create. It can be a very liberating thing.

Whar about aul Mattick, Henryk Grossman, Karl Korsch, Isaac Iñlich Rubin, all the first very early initial stage of Frankfurt? Capital and Class adhere in part to them and of forced impulses to acceñerated accumulation and imerialism, I wrpte a book on them in Peru in 1978.
