Beautiful! Love that vintage column head from the Grande Ballroom -- a real piece of local music history. I dig your blue walls -- and the hanging lamp and the starburst clock in the corner, too. (And the tiki mugs!) It's all about the atmosphere, and my place is also full of midcentury modern lamps (including Lava) and analog wall clocks. I have a round mahogany end table from the '50s that goes back as far as my memory does, so I also appreciate your family's octagonal table. Creating the right ambience for listening to music is half the thrill. The little touches of memorabilia make the shelves of LPs and CDs come to life!

Nice room and lots of records! I like it. I don't have many vynil records, a little more than 500, but I have 1200 CDs, including DTS, SACD, DVD-Audio, recorded in 5.1 format. I have a similar speaker system, but I made a stand for it so that the tweeters are at ear level, the sound is much better than when it is on the floor. Three meters between the loudspeakers and three meters from the acoustics to my couch, with this placement the best stereo effect. And music in 5.1 format also sounds good with such a geometry

Mark at Mad4Vinyl brought me here. I'm glad he mentioned you. I like Greg Kihn, although I've never seen 'Glass House Rock'. You have a great relaxed and informative presentation style. I'll be back for more videos! I'm aware of the Lucy Show, but I've not heard anything from them. Glass Moon sounds interesting too. I probably would have picked it up as a blind buy if I saw it simply because of the photo on the back sleeve.

Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, Mark is great. I really enjoy his videos. Thank you also for the kind words. I wouldn't say that I am at all relaxed haha. I don't know why, but speaking to a camera seems more stressful than speaking to a room full of people! Anyway, I do have a habit of picking up albums based only on the band name or the cover rt or, as you mentioned, the photo of the band. I think I have been extremely lucky with that approach, as only a few of those pick ups have turned out to be real stinkers. I appreciate you watching!

Sure, quantity isn't a great measuring stick for quality, but off the top of my head I can't think of one of his albums that I don't enjoy. Every time I see your videos I think I'm at the beach, what with the sunburst clock and the deep-blue-sea-colored wall. I love that for a wall color, it's so relaxing. Not at all familiar with Sad Cafe; there's a local band that I don't like called Pink Martini so I'd see that album cover and run. It's cool seeing band that didn't make it big but were relatively local to the person showing it (ie Fantacy Hill) - hard to go wrong with bar/pub rock and it just adds flavor to individuals' collections. Never listened to that Alice album. I don't know After All, but holy shit I think if one were to make a collection of only Canadian bands they'd have some pretty great music. A lot of Canadian bands are little-known in the US outside of border states. I've got a lot of Canadian music on CD because I live in Buffalo (a border city) for ages and listened to a lot of Canadian radio and saw a lot of Canadian bands. Annabella as a solo artist is not something I've listened to. I think the folks into Bow Wow Wow and Adam And the Ants at the time in a musical rather than visual sense were mostly attracted to the Burundi drumming, so I can see how BWW fans would not have followed her to her solo stuff. Funny that you'll be in Scotland in a bit; I'll be in London the second week of September. I don't have a bunch of digging planned, but when I travel overseas I mostly dig for 45s - easy to transport. Have fun! Cheers, Tom

Hey Tom! Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! I hadn't really thought of going for the Margaritaville look, but now that you said something I can see it lol. Really though, that room is my "fortress of solitude" from all of the work/life bs. So we'll still be in Scotland while you're in London, which is pretty cool! I've glanced at what record stores will be in our path but I don't have any solid plans either. A hard to find Nazareth 45 would be a nice score! Oddly enough it was the Windsor radio stations that used to break a lot of bands in the Detroit market - Canadian and American. We used to cruise on over there to see a lot of shows - bonus being the drinking age was 18 at the time. And back then Customs was far less agitated. Anyway, I'm finding that I do have a ton of Canadian music on my shelves, not at all by design. I'll seek out Irish or Scottish bands, but Canadian ones seem to infiltrate the collection organically. Something in the water, I guess. Take care man, and enjoy your trip!!

Don't stress over it, Dave. I feel the same way sometimes, but people understand there's more to life than the VC. Madonna gave it her all. Strong album.

Thanks Mark! I just feel like a bad VC citizen for not staying on top of all the great content. Slowly but surely I'm making progress. As for Madonna, that album slipped by me at the time but I'm happy I found a copy. Definitely a pleasant surprise!

Hi Dave, I use to have that Madonna CD and I really liked it a lot. I thought it was her last decent album. A lot of catchy stuff on that. Ray of Light was also quite good. We all get pretty darn busy in the summer. Olympics are sucking up all of my time!

When I first came across that Madonna album I was worried that she was going in a country direction lol. Boy was a pleasantly surprised at how good it turned out to be! I haven't even been keeping up with the Olympics this time around. I manage to catch the highlights, but I haven't managed to watch any of the events. Ugh.
