      It’s massive! They’ve had four rounds so far - each Saturday in June featured two countries with 40+ minutes of fireworks combined. Mid-July is the final show with the top 2 contenders: Finland and China! Both countries were featured when this was recorded, so it was really lucky to be there for the best ones! This is a great attraction for Da Nang and sponsored by Sun Group in Vietnam: diff.vn/en/

      It is wet season then, but usually it is okay. Last year was quite a big storm. The Old Town does flood quite frequently in wet season, so it might be best to stay not right next to the river (usually that street floods, and the one next to it). There’ll still be many food & drink options open, even right in the old town. If it does flood when you are here, it is quite interesting and many locals offer boat tours through the flooded streets.

      A new one is created every lunar new year, themed around the zodiac animal. Because they are made with real flowers, it’s only there for about 5 days!

    What month is Hoian flooded like this?

    • @wondrousminds
      @wondrousminds Год назад

      September and October usually see the most typhoons and rainfall. The floods usually last a few days at a time, and life goes on in the meantime.

      Thank you! Local people have adapted to the recurring floods here, and built lots of trade around it, such as boat tours through the walking streets, and coffee shops especially with flood views. It’s really inspirational how something so devastating doesn’t bring people down here, but is viewed as both an opportunity and a way to be grateful for when things are going well..

    Wow Vietnam streets beautiful too even after super typhoon Noru. Is Vietnam weather bureau using typhoon categories too of Philippines? yeah you can prepare early too Vietnam people likes yellow color 😂😂😂

    • @wondrousminds
      @wondrousminds Год назад

      Yellow is something special for this area, and is especially common in Hoi An. It symbolises royalty, luck, pride and prosperity. The colour also absorbs less heat, and is well suited to the humid and tropical weather. I think the rating systems are similar between Philippines and Vietnam - Nora was a category 4.

      @@wondrousminds yeah it reached signal #4 too before and upon hitting lands in Ph. By this signal make sure we evacuated from danger zones already before night time comes sometimes signal #3 is already strong and local authorities are in panic to scold Filipinos to evacuate 😂 Philippines has changed and elevated the categories in 2020 so people gets fear to really evacuate and not ignore government warnings and liquor ban too for people to prepare, fair mind and not drunk 😂 yeah now I know why yellow is famous. It's also in Vietnam flag. Yellow for Philippines is symbol or use for catholic faith

      It’s definitely less crowded than normal. Not only are there almost no tourists due to international flights being closed since March last year, but also following the new COVID outbreak many people are either staying indoors or have travelled early to their hometown before Tết
