I have a friend who hates Banjo-Kazooie wonder wing. He calls it a "A cheap move." Yet he plays Bowser that has tha F*CKING command grab. I've came up with a way to counter it though.

I think Banjo is fun to play as and there's a lot of hidden tech and unexplored territory by most people who use him (including myself) that makes Banjo go from 67th on the official Tier List to High in Mid Tier, or low on High Tier. Banjo feels super good in the hands and it's fun to use him. His biggest weaknesses are his damage output asside Side B and F-Smash, and not having the best disjoints. Banjo's more of a spammy type of character than just a zoner. I totally get the hate to a degree but still think he's overly hated. There's a lot of characters that are redicuoously OP, like Pyra/Mythra, Steve, Kazuya, etc. I think Pyra's range and damage is absolutely busted, Kazuya has to try less hard than Luigi for his 0 to death, and Steve does things that have to have minutes analyze if the community were to ban it, minutes adds to more minutes and can delay the tournament even an extra hour (talking about the parrying thing). So many characters play lame in this game. Banjo isn't even as bad as it gets tbh. The bear and the bird get way too much hate like c'mon guys 🤷‍♀️🐻 🐦 🎒

Fellow Banjo Kazooie main here: 👋 It's my biggest problem with the Smash Bros fanbase: people being so ungrateful for a character they wanted to finally get in the game playable with a faithful move set. I think Banjo Kazooie has much better representation then Sonic (we know how bad Sonic's represented) and even then: I still play as Sonic because he's from my favourite video game franchise

BK's moveset should have been exactly what it was with a few tweaks to make them play more like a basic jack of all trades character like mario instead of having mediocre attacks and being over reliant on camping with eggs. I would have kept the egg shooting forward attack but remove the breagull blaster all together. It is already referenced enough with the beak bayonet f-tilt. I also think their side B "ammo" gimmick was pretty lame since the move didn't even pressure shields very much and had tons of end lag. The duo's recovery is also really lacking. I would change their gimmick to be that all of their special moves are stronger but use ammo that appears on stage and must be collected by just touching it. Only BK can collect them. Up B would be fly with red feathers, Side B would still be wonder wing and gold feathers, neutral B would still be egg fire with eggs, down B would be some kind of Jinjo attack requiring you to rescue a jinjo. That way they could have some actual power in their arsenal and a DLC character gimmick that makes sense and makes them more viable.

Man, I was not expecting someone do to this in-depth a dive into this old and kinda obscure game. Glad you did it, this is well done

Compare the sales of Banjo and Croc as evidence of popularity is dump because the users base was diference. This is a wild guest but I belive 8 of 10 n64 users bought Banjo and 1 of 100 ps1 users bought Croc. That is why Banjo is remember by nintendo fans as a cherriesed franshise and ps players who play Croc remember it as that grandma gift that bought in a Walmart clearance.

Going and binging all of these videos is really fun! :D The game actually seems really enjoyable too, I'd play it myself, but any *totally real DS* I play on would lag unbelievably no doubt! Because it's *totally real* and screams at me every time I do anything slightly intensive on it :)

I find it very ironic how all these people are complaining about Banjo & Kazooie’s inclusion on the roster and calling then irrelevant and questioning why the hell Sakurai/Nintendo chose them are unknowingly proving the fans right in the long run. Banjo-Kazooie are irrelevant, they haven’t had a game since 2008 (said game was so disliked it basically killed the franchise), their rights holders don’t have any plans to do anything with the franchise a franchise that is only remembered by those who grew up with the games. Not to mention the fact that the franchise belongs to one of Nintendo’s direct competitors (Microsoft). So how the hell did they earn a spot on the roster? THE FANS. The only reason Banjo & Kazooie made it onto the Smash roster is because of all the fans who voted for their inclusion on the Smash Ballot. Votes that were so large in volume that Sakurai was shocked, even implying that they were very close to the top of the ballot. Nintendo wouldn’t have had any reason to work with their direct competitor to get the stars of a dead IP into Smash had it not been for the fans who came out in droves to support the bear and bird’s inclusion. Same with Sora, sure Kingdom Hearts is popular but the legal minefield Nintendo must have had to walk through to get Disney to approve him for Smash would have never been touched had it not been for the massive amount of support Sora got to send him to the top of the ballot. So when all these haters question why these old ass characters from a dead IP made it into this game they fail to realize the only reason Banjo & Kazooie are in Smash and why the bear and bird got in over their most wanted pick is a direct result of the very fans they keep shitting on, on Twitter coming out in droves to support the duo on the ballot.

The only dlc character that doesn’t have some broken mechanic. And no, wonder wing isn’t broken. That move honestly sucks, you get 5 per stock, it’s easy to dodge, and if you use them all up, the move is literally useless, it doesn’t even do 1 percent

Banjo/kazooie are one of my mains and I'm happy about their moveset. Maybe people don't like them because they're not have fast combo moves like Mario for example, he can do a few up-air and connect with his up-special. Combos are the most epic things in fighting games.
