Sweet history recall.

With a cabover you were always aware you would be the first one at the crash site!! So you were always alert. I spent many weeks and years in cabovers until I got my first "hood" in 1982. Second long nose in 1986 and final new truck in 1990. Finally, three million miles was enough to call it a career. From the 1970s on, we saw a lot of these NASCAR haulers going up and down the roads. Especially in all of the southeast states. Good memories. Had lunch with the 43 crews several times. Thanks for bringing back the memories!!

I loved going to Track Days at TWS with my MR2 Turbo. It was great to be able to have an affordable track to go out and run on.

OMG - could you imagine going to Riverside in that thing in the early 70s. My back hurts just from looking at it.

A lot of the tracks couldn't survive the people who wouldn't stand for the noise ,especially the 1/4 mile tracks, as the subdivisions closed in the residences would complain profusely to the city and county governments. I know some couldn't make it financially for other reasons but people who don't like racing eventually drove in the death nail . Time marches on.

I'm odd, but I'd restore it back to the Eddie/Peak car. There are plenty of icons in the sport who will never be forgotten. Petty, Earnhardt, Gant, Gordon, Wallace, it would be nice to represent and remember the independent driver.

I lived about an hour from College Station in the 70s and 80s. I remember hearing about TWS in 1974 for the first time and thought it would be neat to go see a live Nascar race. But I just never made it there. In retrospect, I think location was what did this track in just as much as the rapid deterioration of the track condition.
