kiitos . how about the i-plural
a very understandable and beautiful lesson for beginners. Thanks for the video .I am a new learner and I am subscribing to ur channel ❤
You are very welcome. Thank you for your lovely comment and for subscribing❤️
Kiitos 🙏🏻
Thank you for these excercises! I have one question, though: in numer 6: why should the verb be in the 3rd person, singular form?🙃
You’re very welcome. Thank you for a good question. With numbers, the partitive is always in the singular form. In number 6 the partitive form is also the subject of the sentence, and the verb is singular because of that (Kolme lasta leikkii / Useat lapset leikkivät (several kids are playing). Hope this helps😊
I hope you can make more videos like this ope like the usage of partitive plural, kiitos paljon ope😊😊😊 I love your videos❤
Kiitos paljon kommentista. Thank you so much for your lovely words and for your suggestion❤Ps. In case you are interested, I just posted a video about partitive plural on my other channel www.youtube.com/@SuomenKurssi (it's in Finnish with English subtitles)
I now understand the uses of partitive because of your smooth presentation. Kiitos paljon ope❤❤❤
Ole hyvä ja kiitos kommentista. I’m glad to hear you found the video useful❤️
You are the best teacher
Wow thank you🤩 I have the best students🤩
Moi! Minä olen Aasia. Olen kotoisin Pakistanista. Puhun urdua ja englantia. Kittos
Hei ja hauska tutustua☀️ Kirjoitat hyvin suomea.
verb types 1 and 3 are easy to conjugate using KPT but verbtype 4 there are alot that by the "rule" should be conjugated but arent. is there any way to tell or do i just have to learn each individually. e.g Avata and siivota has a weak V but it doesnt get changed to a strong P
Sometimes it helps to look up the noun and see if it has KPT in it. For example, pelätä-pelko, kiivetä-kiipeily, leikata (leikkaus), siivota-siivous (no KPT), avata-avaus (no KPT), pelata-peli (no KPT). There’s no short way of explaining this, so here’s a link that hopefully helps uusikielemme.fi/finnish-grammar/consonant-gradation/why-doesnt-siivota-become-siipoan?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0jsBu3WrWZ1CSlmKm_l2ik_EX6BfhIoIa9eo-0XxoC6vpWRzq4YZ9l1Dw_aem_twLy8oqys0GEbwPr2eKxkA
0:30 turn on sub titles it says gay wth😑🤣
The autotranslation does that, and it doesn’t work well in videos that mix two languages. I recommend using the English translation I have checked (you can choose it in the settings). Happy studying☀️
Perfect video
Thank you so much💕Kiitos paljon

In example 4. The action is complete by why is it its still in partitive?
Hi there! Thanks for asking. A great question🤩The verb ”katsoa” can be followed by the partitive (katsoin televisiota), the illative (katsoin häneen), the ablative/elative (katsoin sanakirjasta). In Finnish this is called ”rektio”, and it means that certain words require that the word following them is in a certain case. Hope this helps👍🏻☀️
It is very Similar to Hungarian, Azerbaijani, Turkish etc... because they all come from Uralic-Altaic family, Finnish and Hungarian are in Uralic and Turkish, Azerbaijani... etc. are from Altalic
Thank you very much for your interesting comment.
❤❤❤
Kiitos Atsugista
Eipä kestä. Kiitos kommentista ja terveisiä edelleen Atsugiin☀️

This was a really great video, thank you! One question: “Finnish summer” is Suomen kesä”, but “Finnish food” is “Suomalaista ruokaa”? I understand the difference between them, but I originally wrote “Suomalaista kesä”. Would this have also worked as an alternative?
Thanks for watching and asking! The adjective and noun are in the same form. Thus, if the adjective is in the nominative case, then the noun is also the nominative: suomalainen kesä. The same goes with the partitive case: suomalaista kesää, both words are in the partitive case. Thus, ”suomalaista kesä” is not an alternative. Hope this helps!
@@FinnishLesson ahh that makes sense. Thank you!

When I first started learning Finnish in Duolingo, I mixed "you are" (sinä olet) ja "I am" (minä olen). I used like: "sinä olen". Kiitos, sinä olet suomalainen?
Thank you very much for the comment. Practice makes perfect👍🏻☀️ Kyllä, olen suomalainen.
❤
Great🎉
Kiitos kommentista🎉
I'm the old words ending with I if you use just the standard rule to add a/ä you'll actually get the plural. In spoken language one often just lenghtens the ending vowel: mato -> maitoo - instead of maitoa. Whrb I was a kid I recall people saying it was wrong. In the 70s and 80s it was commonly thought that the spoken language is wrong
Excellent observations! Kiitos paljon kommentista.
kiitos ope😊❤
Eipä kestä. Kiitos, että katsoit👍🏻☀️

Hi Anna. The bread and coriander are countable. Why did you change to partitive? Unless I am not understanding it.
Hi there! They can both be either countable or uncountable nouns, for example: I bought some bread (leipää, uncountable > partitive object); I bought a loaf of bread (leivän, countable > object genitive); Buy a loaf of bread! (leipä > object nominative). Hope this helps! Ps. My name is Minna
So sorry for the mix up of your name. I have been watching other RUclipsrs to better understand this partitive. I think I understand better now with your explanation. Thank you so much minna.
