Unlike any other drummer I can think of. The brilliance of his playing is within the repetitive structure and in particular his bass pedal work which is hypnotic. No wonder he is one of the most sampled drummers in music history.

The bonham-triplets are iconic but also the swinging 16th notes on the bass drum are straight up filthy (and difficult to pull off).

Jake Liebezeit had a lot in common with the best James Brown drummers... guys like Clyde Stubblefield and Jabo Starks - for a white German guy in an avant garde Krautrock band he was seriously funky.

Is this actually JB? you would think the rest of the instruments would be bleeding thru the drum mics. I don’t think they had complete isolation and judging by recording studio pics there was no isolated drum.
