Watches are great because there is something for everyone. It also attracts quite a few highly opinionated people for some reason. Whats most important to buy something that suits you and that doesn’t cost you more than you can afford. And, as with everything, tastes can change with time. Thanks for sharing your journey. It’s meaningful to a lot of us even if there are those that enjoy putting people down for no reason. Also, you can add comments or critique about some observations you’ve made on a watch or make suggestions without insulting the wearer for no reason.

If you guys like this style of watch or the style of the numbers, which I’d describe as classic or art deco, I recommend the watch microband Baltic. It has a few similar watches and at affordable prices for us small folk. I’m looking to get one myself.

Sorry that's happening, man, the real ones won't gatekeep and will nurture any level of enthusiasm to share the passion of horology. It can get very snobby for sure with these crazy prices but there isn't a hyper-exclusive barrier to enjoy good value. Watch collecting is very subjective just like many other hobbies, find your own beat rate (🧀) and do you through and through ❤

Are Cartier quartz movements better than a Casio or a Timex quartz movement? Absolutely. Are they thousands of dollars better? Oh hell no. If you want high end quartz, Japan is the place to go brand wise. Grand Seiko and Citizen do crazy things with quartz accuracy and finishing wise

I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the MaMaCoo has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.

I think the watch community-and likely every enthusiast community surrounding consumer goods-is intrinsically myopic and self-involved. We choose to identify with these luxury trinkets sold to us by big companies and use them to project something of ourselves, real or not, to others. Having a RUclips channel about watches and going through the existential exercise and engaging in the hobby on more than a consumer level is much more than most of us will ever do with our watches. Keep up the good work.

Most folks that comment on wristwatch videos, forums, and posts are toxic. I’d know. I’ve been in this community for years. When I owned a Submariner, they said it was fake, or that I should have got something different than what everyone else has. When I bought two Tudor divers, totaling the cost of a Submariner, the trolls said I couldn’t afford a Rolex 😂 You cant win! My antidote is to build relationships with other folks making wristwatches content, because here you’ll find some seasoned, friendly veterans in our community. Some commenters are experienced and cool, too; just not commonplace. Block the trolls; doing so makes it easy to move on. I’ve learned that most commenters are noobs. They don’t have much experience. They’ll watch a few videos on watches and become experts overnight. I’ve been in this hobby for over a decade, and I still learn something new about horology daily. Enjoyed listening to your experience. I’m sorry some aspects of your time in our community has been bad.

im sorry you had to experience this. there are watch enthusiast that are genuinely interested in the heritage, movement technology, artistic decorations. Then there are watch snobs that think they know everything but all they know is the price and how watch is an investment.

I just watched your post about the watch community. I hope you keep on posting content on watches everyday people can afford. I’m relatively new to the world of watches and yes it is an extremely critical, outspoken and almost narcissistic group. I learned early to buy what I love and admire but unfortunately all too many in the community regard the world of watches as if it holds some elevated status allowing them the right to criticize others with differing opinions, likes and budgets. It’s a sad statement that something so unnecessary and yet luxurious brings out sometimes the worst in peoples personality. Please don’t let this stop you from making content cause you might change some people along the way.

Personally I think accurist is so much better that the PRX it just adds the London class to the watch making it just feel much more chic plus they do gold so much better

Just discovered your channel somebody I work with in the early 70s had the accurist watch years before Tissot came out with the same style imagine my surprise when I saw it in the accurist collection had to have one.

You need to learn more about watches before judging them. Watches are not like other hobby. History is attached to every iconic one.Before blaming others you should ask yourself these. Know the design inspiration of PRX? Already known Seiko History?

I am sorry about your experience. I have found that mainstream brand watch community can be harsh and very vanity-driven. But there are plenty of niches to live in that you can avoid the "bro/dudes". For example, I found Casio fans to be much cooler - same with the homage watch lovers. There are great communities on reddit that are really supportive. I hope you keep pushing through! Good luck!

The snobbery comes from the fact that those who bring negativity to others interest and wallet treat some mainstream media information as true knowledge like math proof. On even personal level, a guy I discuss my watch interest once told me the only OMEGA speedy is the professional speedmaster while I was interested in smaller version called reduced. Anyho, you do you man! I'd suggest you check out microbrands that are under $1000 like Boldr, Lorier, Brew, or MAEN.

Interesting video. I've been on RUclips for a while and I completely understand. One of my buddies asked me if there were any other black guys doing watch reviews and I told him that there's only two that I know of. Now you make three. Good day and nice review :) but are you sure the site you recommended isn't a scam site? My credit card company stopped the transaction stating they use securecode(sic?) transactions only which means they can just take the money and run with no recourse for dispute. Also their older official store fronts (aliexpress (6 years old) and amazon) have much higher prices with longer delivery times so not sure why everyone is buying from there instead of the oblvlowatch site unless the site is a scam? Your thoughts?
