I’ve had many many boxing fights and as you can imagine seen my fair share of bloody orrible things. Not ashamed to admit it that when I watched terrifier 1 I had to leave the room for a min and have a glass of water cos I genuinely felt nauseous. I braved the rest of the trilogy and had to watch through my fingers on a few occasions 😂😂😂 but I was pleasantly surprised by how entertained I was. Art is genuinely a great character and the plot is semi engaging. If you have friends that are interested it makes it easier aswell and the reactions can be hilarious. Of course tho I wouldn’t watch it if you have any doubts. Great vid I subscribed

Definitely some solid points here. I made it through the Terrifiers and totally get why many can’t. It’s getting to be a bit much. I’ve watched the saw movies up until part 3, had enough of those. Went on a lil foreign kick for awhile so I’ve seen Martyrs, not something I ever want to see again. Can add another to that foreign list…Inside, absolutely never watching again. Just reading the parental advisory for A Serbian Film had me traumatized for days so that was enough lol. I’ve never seen any of the Human Centipedes and I don’t plan to. Seen the Hostels and I won’t watch them again. I’ve always felt like they’re documentaries rather than make believe. Where do all the missing people go, ya know? No thanks lol.

I just finished this video and I've seen all these movies myself except _A Serbian Film, The Human Centipede,_ and *some* of _Cannibal Holocaust._ I would not have recommended any of those films to most horror fans... *Except* I want to absolutely alleviate your concerns over 1977's _The Hills Have Eyes._ It's not what you're thinking. Not at all. Almost all the violence is extremely tame. The one or two extremely short bits that are explicit do not involve cooking humans, eating humans, or torture or cruelty to babies or animals, etc. The cannibalism is only hinted at. Now that someone's lead you down the wrong path about that movie (just the 1977 original version that is), I have to actually recommend it. It's nothing like those other movies on your list. It's a real classic and one of the few Survival Horror films that is actually great. You have my word. You really should give it a try.

I absolutely agree with you avoiding those movies that are bad taste as i am huge horror movie fan i was bothered by the Kind of torture type movies made but i watched some of the ones you showed such as the french movie Martyrs but sorry I did and the Human Centipede disgracful also but Eli Roth's Hostel is nasty stuff just like his latest movie Thanksgiving That i never want to see again, thou there is a movie i saw once in the theatre called Untraceable thats very disturbing Like the Saw movies that left me head wrecked for some time after seeing it.

I am a gorehound. I love brutal horror movies with tons of gore and shock value. I can't watch psychological or plain supernatural films because they are just so boring and not brutal or brutal enough. I totally dig the Terrifer films, Evil Dead, Hatchet, The Sadness, The Hills Have Eyes, Manic, and anything else that is right up my alley.

Does the dog die site is a good place to look up triggers before you watch a movie. They have triggers I didn't even know were triggers. I can't watch animal cruelty or torture for the sake of torture. I have seen some of the films on this list, and wanted to bleach my eyeballs after a few, lol! Paranormal Activity was boring. I like the Saw series because it has a point to it, and Tobin Bell is amazing. I wish I had never seen The Human Centipede, a bit queasy just thinking about it. I won't watch Hostel or Martyrs because of the torture. Since I like Eli Roth, I saw The Green Inferno and liked it. Roth has a way of injecting twisted humor in his movies. Good ending, too. People have such varied tastes. Even within a movie, you can find that thing you don't like was ok because the overall movie was enjoyable. If it's on physical media, you can skip the icky part. I do, anyway. I just can't stomach animals being hurt, though, and won't buy those dvds. Vivian

Great Video! As someone who has seen everything, with the exception of the bottom of the "disturbing movies iceberg," I absolutely don't blame you for not wanting to see these movies. After some self-reflection, I've become somewhat desensitized to gore, and I really don't think that it is a GOOD thing. It's almost dehumanizing. I absolutely have fallen for the "intrigue" of these films and I look at these films as "personal challenges". Whenever I hear that a movie is difficult to stomach, despite how much I don't want to see these things, I feel like I have to. A small detail I wanted to point out what you said about the first Saw film being mainly about two men in a room - this isn't TOTALLY true. There ARE scenes outside of the room that, while there are only glimpses, are pretty gross. I just wanted to throw that warning out to you in case you ever decide to give it a shot. I do feel that sometimes getting through the gore leads to a reward at the end and that reward is a solid story and payoff, that is thought-provoking. Martyrs and Saw, in my opinion, are good films, as a whole, and DO offer this payoff at the end. Martyrs has one of the best endings I've ever seen and it has left me with something that I still think about today... in a good way lol

The Human Centipede series and a Serbian film on my NO list. Not for the gore, I can deal with gore. They have things in them that make me ill. I agree with you on paranormal activity and found film footage films in general. I've only found one I enjoyed, and it's not a horror. You mentioning people thinking Cannibal Holocaust was real reminds me of the first two Guinea Pig films. Some people thought thought they were real. J Horror can get graphic. Other films on my No list. August Underground, Silo, that i can think of from the top of my head.

Most found footage movies are crap, and I hate them. I especially hate The Blair Witch Project because it was hyped up to be sO sCaRy, only for it to be a whole lot of nothing. I was looking forward to seeing it, so I was sorely disappointed when I did get to see it. I also hate the torture porn type of movies, too, because they're full of pointless gore for mere shock value, rather than adding anything to the plot. If I'm going to watch a movie like that, give me something more substantial than just gore for the sake of shock value. I saw the original "The Hills Have Eyes," and it's really not that bad. The cannibalism is somewhat implied, much like it is in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Just to say, the line the directors and Art’s actor for the Terrifier franchise that will never be crossed is on-screen child death, and S/A, Art canonically would never assault someone in such a way, as it is beneath him. I may have also misunderstood this, but I believe that either the director or actor has stated that Art is an asexual creature. Just wanted to spread this information as much as possible! <3

The Hills Have Eyes (1977) is more so about suggestion than it is actually showing the violence, though there is on-screen violence in the film, and it is disturbing, it's not as exploitative as you may think it is, the remake, on the other hand, is very violent. The only film that I agree a human being is probably just fine having never seen is A Serbian Film. I, unfortunately have seen A Serbian Film, and I can honestly say I'll never watch it again. I enjoy disturbing cinema to a degree (Martyrs is brilliant), but the themes and even just some of the things happening on and off screen are too much and just shouldn't be consumed. There really is nothing to gain from watching that film, other than some really unfortunate memories of things that happen in it.

thank you for your candor and for posting this, which i am sure has earned you some pushback from some of the horror community. while i love horror cinema in almost all its forms, i also have a difficult time with extended suffering on screen (e.g. Martyrs). i can handle all the beheadings and dismemberment Hollywood wants to throw at me, but make someone suffer for more than 15-30 seconds and i stop being entertained and go to sheer discomfort. that being said, i noticed that you are prominently displaying the book A Little Life behind you. to me, that book featured more suffering and violence (physical and emotional) than any of the movies you mentioned. i know it could be excused as psychological, and that it's a book not a movie, but i was wondering how you were able to handle that book! I'm not trying to be confrontational or anything, but almost all the things you talk about being a hard no in this video are absolute walks in the park in comparison to reading A Little Life, particularly when it comes to violence for the sake of violence.
