    It must be hard to ring bells on a moving barge. Wouldn't the movement affect the bells' swing and make your timing go all wonky?

    • @iosephvshatchmefecit
      @iosephvshatchmefecit 2 года назад

      Yes, it was very difficult to ring them. We had some pretty expert bellringers who were able to cope with them and ring to the standard you can hear.

      Why

    • @ringeradam4575
      @ringeradam4575 5 лет назад

      Well because, technically at that point they 'had' already been heard for the first time in many years as they needed to be put up, unless they kept the bells up that whole time, which is implausible...

    Just found this video. They seem to be rather rough going even after restoration Am I right in thinking that "the poor old bugger at the start" is in fact Edward G. Mould? Ted was based here in Gloucestershire in the 1970's and I enjoyed ringing many Peals with him. RIP Ted.

    I am so glad the bells are popular in England. Its sad over here in USA I do not hear the bells ring anymore. The churches have a rope and all they have to do is pull it. I think they are ashamed to ring their bells. I remember as a boy in my small village, 3 bells use to ring for 3 or 4 minutes . Only one still rings and they just pull the rope once or twice. Very sad indeed.
