I love you guys and your work ! Cheers to the team Will there be vlogs about Iceland? 👍👍
I love the work u are all doing on these sea garden.😊
good job guys .. also don't be afraid re wild whatever you have to just on your own dont wait for corporations to give you the "ok" fuk em do your own thing and do it whenever the hell you want
Yet another brilliant video. Now we have to wait and see if Nature co-operates!
Thank you! Indeed, we will see 🤞 Josie
Great update! You guys rock.
Awesome work team!
Thanks for your support :D Josie
Thanks for the update, Josie! Looking forward to the seagrass nursery expansion 😍
So are we! And I look forward to sharing the process with you 😊 Josie
I hope this core system works out. Another thing that might work is planting the seeds in groups of say three along a natural fiber rope embedded with soil from the planting site. that could degrade over several years. The two ends of rope segment could be pushed deep into the mudflats to act as anchors. You could even pierce the rope with bamboo slivers a double the size of toothpicks to anchor the rope sections even better. I envision the ropes laid an inch or so apart in a planting bed on soil from the site. A ten meter square planting bed could hold a kilometer or so of planted rope. If it worked I would definitely try direct seeding with the rope segments, but perhaps protecting the emerging seedlings from grazing by sealife is one of the reasons for transplanting.
This is a really interesting idea, thank you! Some projects have done something similar with pinning down coir mats. We are going to do some trial seed planting this year. Some other methods we have found are putting seeds in hessian bags buried under sediment, and also mixing sediment and seed in a caulking gun and inserting about 2cm into the sediment. An exciting time to be trialling different ideas. 😊 Josie
@MossyEarth-FieldNotes All good ideas! I'll be excited to learn which ones work best! I feel confident that the coir mats will work but if the caulking gun idea works it will probably be the cheapest and most efficient. Keep me posted.
❤❤
Thanks for your great work in restoring/supporting wild ecosystems🌿👌🏻
A lovely project you have here.
Yes! Keep educating the local children so that they will become the future savers of the forest! I love that you also started teaching some local women cooking skills so you can employ them later. Well done! I'm sorry about the fire but maybe it is for the good of your land. It was a quick but unintentional way to get rid of the grass. I hope you can put some plants in there even in the middle of the drought.
Toads are very quick at burying themselves. They create holes so fast I can’t figure out how they do it. Watching it looks like they just rock themselves into the ground.
I would like to suggest a golf course hole cutter. Keep up the good work. Peace ✌️
Yes, or a bulb planter!
Thanks for the suggestions! 😊What we need is something that can cut the core and contain it for transport so that the sediment doesn't fall apart, to then press back into the sediment in the new site. So far cheap gutter pipes seem to be doing the trick 😅 Josie
So awesome!
The new method makes sense. It’s pretty much the same idea as dividing plants in your garden which if available is often a much easier and quicker approach than growing from seed.
Thanks!
Jeez - it's just as well you are all so young and energetic. This one is a real, multi-faceted challenge. It is so distressing to see a major river reduced to a few puddles, as you so rightly described them. I shall be following this project with enormous interest .
It's so great to finally see transplanting Here is to hoping for the revitalization of the meadows
I love this little editing and filled-in with details. Raw and informative! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your support 😊 Josie
❤
It would have been nice if you had talked a short bit about the project like the cause of the damage but nice to see the progress

Thanks Josie.
If I was prime minster I would give yall the funding to fix atleast the whole of the UK
😎👍
I am curious how fast the transplanted cores will grow into a stable bed of seagrass. And how fast this new bed could expand.
Yes, us too! It will of course depend on this specific site and external pressures during the year, but Francis read a study done in New Zealand where they found significant expansion within one growing season. Look forward to seeing what happens here and keeping you guys updated here along the way! Josie
Amazing work!
Hope the massive Strom doesn't Hurt you guys
oooooft that looks so chilly! my fingers are feeling cold just watching
Yes, many cups of tea after to thaw out! 🥶
If you're going to be doing much transplanting, you might look into getting something like a clam gun for pulling the plugs of seagrass.
Ooh, this is a very good suggestion, thank you! I'm sure there will be some optimising of our methods as we continue to trial this, and this is certainly a good idea! :) Josie
The benefit of the gutter pipe is that it holds the cores together to be transported to the next site. Josie
You're heroes, Josie, thanks for this inspiring update ❤😊.
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed this update :) Josie
I didn’t know about Field Notes. Glad it came up as a suggestion for me. I like the nitty gritty stuff.
Welcome! Sounds like it is a channel you are going to enjoy! Josie
Great update, thanks Josie!
Thanks Paul :D

Hi there! My name is Andreia, and I am looking for an email or contact of Teresa Santos, the beautiful Being on the video, from Portugal, Odemira please 😊😊 I'm her friend, and I lost her contact (long short story, my phone got broken and I lost all my contacts 😅) If you could give me her phone number, or if it's not possible the number, an e-mail to contact her again I would be very very grateful 🙏🏻🙏🏻 ((I've send an email through my Outlook email to your team email guys!)) Keep with your amazing work 💪🏻💪🏻 Much love from Portugal, Andreia
Maybe you can get some ideas from the rhino forest fund that is reforesting in the Tabin area. They compare different Methods of letting the trees grow and from what i remember, grassland really needs effort to reforest as many trees need shade from bigger trees to grow and the grass suffocates the young trees

Great work Teresa!
great stuff!!
PS, Good ole crawfish boil once a month. Start a new local tradition. 🦞🍲😋.

So glad we have people like you to do this work. It is so important for biodiversity and habitat restoration. Keep up the great work :-)
Thanks for saving endemic fish species and restoring freshwater habitats!
Interesting project. I mean in the face of climate change the question is can the watershed be restored so one can have almost flowing water or bigger pools year round before one could really work on the fish? Probably restoring that watershed is a much bigger project which would maybe involve the whole landuse and watrmanagement sector in the region, which would need massive governmental intervention idk? But taking care of the plantations is certainly helping the water cycle and also mapping the streams and fishes as a first step ofc is really amazing. Hopefully there will be more projects starting from other ngos or government aswell!
You’re absolutely right. That’s why this is actually a subproject within our broader Wilder Mira initiative, which focuses on watershed restoration and basin-level rewilding. To achieve this scale, we’re already collaborating with the local government and have joined forces with other local NGOs in a grassroots movement dedicated to restoring the river Mira. Stay tuned-we’ll share more updates on this soon! * Teresa
@@MossyEarth-FieldNotes Thanks for ur answer and really exciting news- looking forward to it
Love the community programs involving the local community to raise awareness. Keep up the good work.
Love the closed-up shots of rare special animals and plants. The greenery is mesmerizing enough!
I love fish! Yesterday, I was thinking about leaving Mossy Earth for financial reasons, but this projects changed my mind and I will stay! Freshwater restauration is my favourite part of Mossy Earth, but I understand the necessity of the others too. Is there a share pic for freshwater restauration or even this particular project?
Thank you so much for the kind feedback! Restoring freshwater ecosystems is indeed a crucial solution for addressing a wide range of modern challenges, and we’re fully committed to this effort through our targeted Mediterranean project in the Mira basin. For more information, including pictures and updates on the project, I recommend visiting its dedicated page: www.mossy.earth/projects/saving-endemic-fish. Stay tuned-there’s much more to come! * Teresa
