Lil Ambush Treestand Review - Out On A Limb Mfg.
Here's my review of the OOAL Lil Ambush Treestand. Sorry it ran a little bit longer than I originally planned. Audio isn't the greatest, it was 27 degrees and windy outside when I filmed this and I had a fire going in the shop.

This is Really kool ,I was thinking the other day about using seat belt material , seems your sewing machine really high strung, but you got it tho. Thanks for the video.
Hey do you happen to have a materials list and plans I could buy from you?
What sewing machine did you use?
Hello, thanks for sharing. Please tell me how you feel about using it. The size of the panels is fine, or it would be better to change them. I'm built like you, and I'm going to sew a saddle
You mentioned you made a modification to the Kme broadhead sharpener by moving the roller further back. Does the sharpener itself have that adjustment capability or did you have to special work to do that ? Thanks for feedback.
Great video!!!! Only thing I don't agree with is that saddle hunting isn't comfortable. It's comfortable for me i fall asleep all the time and have gotten rid of all other stands.
Do you have any patterns?
Thanks dude , so using coarse medium and fine sand paper does the trick?
It hard and annoying trying to hear what you are saying while that unnecessary music is playing.
What kind of thread did you use?
#92 bonded polyester thread
What is the length of the 2 pieces of 2 inch webbing used for the inner and outer circle?
You need to size those for your individual body size. Just use binder clips to hold them together while you find the length you want
I think you've done great job! I have a couple of questions though. How did you determine length of seatbelt material, and how much space in between the panels? Also, when did you put the tubular webbing on? In the layout shot I don't see it on there. I can't figure out how you laid it out like that but then got the tubular webbing on. The seatbelt material looks continuous, is it in multiple pieces?
To find your length of seatbelt material it is best to pin the webbing together with actual pins or binder clips and test fit that to your body size. There are (2) pieces of the 2" webbing the outer loop and the inner loop. Just thread the pieces of 2" webbing through the tubular before you sew the belts onto the panels.
How tall are your panels? Did you make your webbing loops first to get a pattern then cut or just started with the panels first? Trying to eye ball your method
I started with the panels, I believe the top panel was around 6" tall and the bottom panel was maybe 9 or 10".
I sure wish you had shown how you dealt with the cable guard on that changeout video. Do you have to loosen the rollers, or will the cables come off and go back on without having to do that?
Where all did you get your materials from?
Sweet. Im far from his facility.. Are u located in Oklahoma by chance?
Nice job, looks great. Do you have a pattern for the panels that you can share? I am interested in building my own saddle.
Sorry I don't have a pattern available. I tried to show the layout of the material with a ruler and referenced my waist size. You should be able to take some screen shots and work from that.
@@fletchdeeptv1958 ok thanks
Just bought this broadhead sharpener though I do have the whole knife sharpening system-with the axe sharper extra handles that can hold larger stone’s along with handles for the rods for comfort plus I bough two rods with a curved rod for convex edges and two straight sharpening rods for knives with a regular v grinded edge and every diamond stone plus their water stones from 400 grit to 5,000 grit pen jaws regular jaws also I have the rounded diamond sharpener for recurved blades along with the serrated knife diamond rod sharpener and their thickness compensater because the water stones are thicker than the diamond stones and I want to keep the same sharpening angle throughout my sharpening I also have 3 kangaroo strops and compounds go from 4,000, 8,000 and the 16,000 grit compounds you shouldn’t really ever need more than a16,000 grit compound and id even say u don’t need more than 8,000 grit compounds in my opinion unless you have the 10,000 grit water stone which I passed on. The one piece I want other than the handheld broadhead sharpening system is their broadhead jaws for the knife system to help sharpen edges with more of a curved edge.Love KME it’s the best hand sharpening system under $1000 I paid around $600- $700 for my KME and every accessory though u can get the basic kit for around $200 and should still do a great job plus the hand sharpening systems that goes for $1000 plus only comes with a few stones and if u were to buy the wicked sharp system for $1000 plus all it’s accessories it would probably cost you another $1,000 for the extras like I did with the KME system if they even have the same great quality accessories that the KME have for their system and The KME with all the great accessories is still $400 cheaper than the wicked sharp without all the extras live sharp blade of all kinds just picked up the 3 pack 125 grain cutthroat screw in right bevel in S7 high grade tool steel came razor sharp and at $105 though pricey your other choice for S7 steel broadheads if u want S7 steel broadheads u can only go Bishop broadheads which at $400 for 3 heads is quite the rip-off even though their heads are great but no heads should cost more than $150 for a 3 pack another great broadhead manufacturing company is iron will great razor sharp many different models and setups made out of a great steel A2 tool steel a steel on some of my best knives they’re not the cheapest but $109 for 3 fantastic heads isn’t bad for the quality you get.
Could you name all the parts of your jig ?. I’d appreciate it
If you all haven't seen a documentary called.... It's worse than you think... Bye revelations of Jesus Christ ministries... I suggest you do... All praise and glory to the most high Jesus Christ
What seat pad did you use?
Its homemade, just some 2" foam wrapped in cordura nylon.
Which will bring your fletch back too the left. Or you could have moved your rest left a niche.
How did you get 2 pieces of 2 inch seatbelt webbing through 1 inch tubular webbing and keep it all even?
Very Carefully. I tri folded the first piece and ran it through, and then used a wire splicing tool and pulled the second piece through the first making sure it stayed inside the folds of the first piece.
I have a question about guys who have built their own dual cam compound bows. How do they determine how long to make both the buss and control strings? Obviously not using any specific engineered plans to construct these bows, so not sure how they concluded their string measurements? There is one build in particular where they guy made his own cams from aluminum and they look really well made, but I'm sure there are a lot of bow people who frown on this. What is your take on the matter? I was thinking of replicating this guy's build. Thanks for your demonstration video. Pretty neat how you made your own jig. Cheers!
To find lengths for a custom build I would start with some string or paracord and just tie knots in it to find the right length. A true dual cam bow the control and buss cable will be identical. I would be very cautious of making your own cams from aluminum with anything less than machining them from billet material. IF you do pursue making your own aluminum cams I would start with something pretty low poundage.
@@fletchdeeptv1958 Okay...thanks for the reply. I was pondering this more than I was actually forging ahead with it. I'm pretty particular on how I do things, and as you say, building cams should be done with the assistance of milling machines. I might be able to find a friend that has a shop with such machinery. Anyway, it's just a thought right now. Thanks for your point of view. Cheers!
Nice video...great reaction!
appreciate the good review and the clips you edited into the final version.
We are really interested in saddle hunting but not the price point. I have a commercial sowing machine & wondering if you have a materials list somewhere ?
The two panels are made with 500d cordura. The main Loops are made with 2" seatbelt webbing (6000 lb rated). The linemans loops are made with 1" polyester webbing (3000 lb rated). When you say commercial machine are you talking a small home model? If so it will be difficult to sew through the multiple layers of webbing.
No it’s actually a commercial singer machine not a home machine.
Very nice work man!
Thanks for sharing, your work is impressive. What kind of thread injector is that?
Thank you! the machine is a Chicon 563 (taiwanese clone of a Juki LU-563)
Very nice video and an awesome looking method clone!

Is black gold 3 pin adjustable good?
Why not a 3 pin adjustable
how do i know how to allow for string pounds
Not sure what you are asking?
This was supposed to be installing the rest. You failed at that.
Would this jig fit the thin mechanical blades like Grim Reaper?
It will fit grim reaper mechanical blades. It's just barely though and you really have to clamp down on them hard or else they want to fall out.
In fact if you look at the still photo at 6:15 in the video that is a grim reaper mechanical blade
I shot 3 deer last year 4 the 1st time using micro arrows. Victory VAP TKO 350 spine shafts with a heavy 90 grain insert with a great flying cut on contact 125 grain head. I was getting 260+ feet per second with 63 lbs. & I killed my broadhead targets which all had bag targets behind them. Had 2 pull arrows through both targets. New heavier arrows 4 this fall. Those new arrows r 125 grains more than the micro diameter 1's. Very quiet, very high momentum & very easy 2 tune.
sounds like you found a setup that works well for you
@@fletchdeeptv1958 Found it & in January when I made the new shafts I was able 2 obtain the characteristics of a tougher arrow on impact with ZERO tuning 2 be done on the bow.
Can you feel your trigger travel at all with that Like Mike with the tension youre putting on it while youre pulling through the shot?
No, because it is a mechanical sear design you can adjust the travel to zero.
Double sear, zero trigger travel, incredible release, durable, very adjustable, very well built!
Nice job buddy I especially liked the snort weese to stop him and turn him your way. Where'd you learn that little trick?
I shoot a 64# Buck Master Pro with Beaman pork chop 400 arrow with a fixed blade 29 inch arrow. What’s your opinion?
If I remember right the pork chop arrows are decently heavy, I don't think you'll have any issues with North American game
I don’t see any videos on the Twisted X strings hardly. I would like to know what your thoughts are on Twisted X. I’d like to know how they’ve held up and if you’ve had any problems with them if any at all.
I had that bow for close to a year and don't recall having any issues string wise, limbs another story... But I've since started making my own strings, if I didn't I would use either twisted x, hogwire, or gas
Is that the Insanity CPXL? I just got a Black Ops Insanity CPXL, with 2019 in house limbs, in process of getting new strings now. And ive yet to put an arrow through it! BTW How do you like yours beside the limbs?? The limbs were known to peel n flake.
Every other how to videos on how to tie a d loop including nockon archery say that there needs to be a 1 millimeter play between the knots of the d loop to avoid nock pinch
Please move that light from behind you.
I use acetone to clean the vanes and alcohol to clean shafts and wraps.
Why is your heading spelled fletch deep but your screen logo flech deep
Great footage!
U don’t need a jig and regular super glue works fine as long as u line up the glue marks u will be fine no need to buy the extra stuff
Good day! Please tell me where do you get the formula for the calculation of the string? If you have website addresses , add them in the comments! With respect from Russia!
This website has the formulas you would be looking for. You have a few variable you will need to experiment and find out what works for you. www.bakerarcheryproducts.com/product-page/string-formulas-fractions
Nice video. Just found your channel. I will say I made a couple DIY saddles and your right...they aren't that comfortable. My DIY Fleece has been super comfortable! That said I have tried a couple of the commercially made saddles and it is a world of difference in the comfort area.
You're probably right regarding the comfort of a real manufactured product, I just don't use one enough to justify the cost.
I understand. I sold some hunting equipment to help offset the initial cost. I'm not a brand specific fanboy. I own a Mantis now and plan on getting the Aerohunter this summer. I haven't taken a deer from it yet but have had several opportunities. Just not what I wanted to shoot. Live the honest review. Thanks again!
thanks for the vid. keep 'em comin' :-)
