What a awful sound. Multiac gypsy from Godins are true failures
That was a real nice video. I'm a beginner, for almost 10 years now. Keep on stopping and starting again. Looking at this one for practice and more for some time and think I should buy it now. Restart my guitar adventure and make it possible to practice at night without disturbing the neighbours. You'r video is really inspirational. I will definitly buy now,. Also nice it's like having best of both worlds.
You don't have to change all the batteries every show, do you?!?!
I don't have to change them every show.... although some shows ask you to change every show (and they do provide them- sometimes it's re-chargeable ones)
Cut button adds mids. It's a button to help you cut thru with increased mids.
Hah you're right! Thanks for the correction I appreciate your comment!
Hi and Lo is actually Hi and Lo input sensitivity for singles or buckers
Good to know thank you!!
Great review, but what's the thickness of the Mono M80 compare to the RB? Thanks! 🙏🏻
Good question I honestly don't know. The RB does "appear" to be thinner.... But both bags are probably very similar even though they use different materials. Thanks for the question and next time I have them both in the same room I'll check!
@mundojuillerat Sorry for the trouble but last time we checked the RB is at 1" yet there's no info for the Mono. Thank you in advance! 🫰🏻
Hi Mundo! I got the USA model two moth ago and doesn't has the same level of "touch the bar and get out of tune" but it's not that consistent!
Bummer I was hoping the USA model was stable and consistent.... but yours does sound like it's better made than mine!
@@mundojuillerat My luthier and I believe they’ve changed the bridge design to cut costs. We had to sand down the saddles because there were sharp burrs that kept cutting the strings-I was breaking a string at every gig! What’s worse is that the small cylinder piece inside the saddle that locks the string in place isn’t sold separately. If you lose one, you have to replace the entire bridge. On top of that, the guitar came with an unfinished nut. But despite all these issues, the tone it produces is absolutely amazing!
It's turquoise actually. But they market it as "blue". Oh well 😂 How big of a crowd is this for? I'm thinking more about either two of these ot 2 of the BP80s (100 Watts) for something like a small EDM party 100-200 people at most. Am I dreaming? (These are on a Black Friday sale now). What's your take? I know you're probably not an electronic music guy, but still - shouldn't be that much of a difference in terms of how large of a party these can handle.
Hi! Could you take a picture of the sticker inside the guitar. Where is your guitar made?
Great video review thanks Mundo !
Hello mate, I have a Charvel GG like yours and I have the same problem. I would like to be able to change the tremolo and put the same one you put on yours. Could you specify the exact characteristics to be able to order it as yours from the Sophia Tremolos guys? Great job on the videos and congratulations on the guitar you left behind ! A greeting.
@@tonimo thank you! I got a Sophia 2:92 deluxe pro tremolo and added the Global Tuner Pro upgrade. And as you can see I had Gil install for me. I’m not that handy so if you’re in the same boat get a good tech! You can go to sophiatremelos.com. Let me know how it works out for you?!
Awesome dog! German Shepherds are really people! Really interesting guitar too. Henderson, Nevada....it's humidifier time!
Thanks for a very informative and detailed review; excellent explanation and demo of this pickup system. I’m just about decided that I’m gonna go for it today.
@@gtrgeorge348 awesome! I giggled with mine every night and it still sounds great. Enjoy!
@@mundojuillerat Hey, thanks again for your great review. My NCX3C (cedar top) arrived today, and so far, I love it. First Yamaha I’ve ever had; first electric acoustic I’ve ever had that used 2 AA batteries… Do you know if the plastic guide thingie behind the knobs can be removed? I don’t know if I will, just curious. Also, don’t remember if you mention it in this review, but I didn’t know it would come with a sound hole cover…
@ yes you can remove it or leave it for reference. Thanks!
Andy said he made unity gain on the Gearbox at 12 o'clock, whereas unity on the Tumnus is more like 9 or 10 o'clock...
What are the name of these guitars and are any of these guitar are transaciuatic
Ive got a NFT floyd guitar with bone nut and I get it. But all of my guitars I tune, pull up on the bar, and retune until the pull up returns it to tune after a dive. Other thing is though you can use another stabilizer with the floyd or even the sophia block to retrofit the floyd. Cool journey though. Wish the stock bridge was better.
Mundo Juillerat, do you also have had problems -like me- with intonation this bridge?
No I've been happy with the intonation on this guitar no matter that bridge (I'm on my third!). But I have had friends who have had intonation problems with this same guitar.
@@mundojuillerat , This guitar lacks screwable fine adjustment and the saddles must be manualy shifted at random! How do you make the right intonation?
@@jaapvanwageningen9931 I had a guitar tech set all three bridges for intonation. I stopped working on my own guitars because I have a personality where I don't stop tinkering. Even though I know it's intonated I don't trust my work and keep at it until I actually make it worse ha!
EXCELLENT REVIEW. THANKS FOR POSTING IT.
Thank you! I appreciate your comment.
Good review ! What string gauge did you use ?
do you mind sharing some of the mod specifics?
I not the most technical person I just play the things ha! I'd reach out to Carl for specifics. But there's a lot of details here in the vid. Most were updates were to the original circuitry and I picked the tubes because they sounded like updated vintage tubes. We did convert the two prong to a modern three prong power cable. Thanks!
looks great now!
Yes it does! I was never a fan of the one matte burst finish.... Thanks!
I have the American version of the Charvel Guthrie. It is my favorite guitar. You are right - the neck is the star. I have owned and played nearly every brand. The Charvel just feels comfortable and makes me play faster and smoother with less effort.
100%!!!!
Absolutely killing it
Thank You!
Thank you so much for this video. It really uncovered the cons of having the cable output jack built this way. The best position for the cable would be like the Aries 2 from Kiesel. That is at the back in an angle upwards.
Yup thought it was a brilliant idea but field testing showed me it wasn't so good. Thanks for the post!
@@mundojuillerat yeah. On second thought the Ibanez S most likely has the best output jack location. Still trying to found out the most convenient one.
Most non-locking trems won't stay in tune. Only a few do. Suhr makes high quality guitars. Can't go wrong with that. Other good non-locking trem guitars are the Yngwie Malmsteen strat, and Music Man Ernie Ball guitars. The Vegatrem seems to be good also. And if you didn't know the Hipshot trem sucks like 90% of the non-locking trems out there. I just watched another review video of this guitar and the guy did a live trem abuse tuning test. That guitar stayed in tune. He bought it second hand and had a set of 10's on it. If I I am correct you had put 9's on this guitar? If that is the case then for best results the nut needs to be replaced as well because in the factory the nut has been cut for 10's. In theory many say it wouldn't make a difference but I disagree.
Very melodic!😂
Thank you!
well, that's funny. Today i saw your CharvelGovan Videos for the 1st time. I bought that guitar modell 2 years ago and i had almost the same (frustrating) experiences. That guitar was and is killer, i love the speedy neck and the Pickups are very versatile. So last year i found the Sophia Trem in the internet and i had a very nice and informative conversation with the sophia guys asking me how strong the trem should be etc. After a few weeks i got the Sophia Trem 2.92 (same modell as you got, Mundo). Installing was easy, just a micrometer dremel drilling and now the problems are long forgotten.😊 Good luck with all your work horses....i feel with you being a free lanced musician myself.
How cool is this comment?! Thank you! Forwarded this to Gil and the Sophia guys. Glad it worked out for you and thank you for this response!
Thanks for the video! It's a shame that a guitar of this price has this problem. I've been able to get $100 guitars with shitty-trem tune better than this Charvel. Knowing that the nut wasn't the problem, I'm wondering if the springs clamp screws are the problem. It's weird but I've had this happen before. Those screws moved every time I pressed the bar. I had to plug the hole with a dowel and re-drill the hole to fix the problem.
Good point and yes I've had that problem with other guitars. It was easy to isolate and fix. But the screws on this axe were stable... The fix would be to get a Sophia or another trem. But at least we know the Sophia works. Check out MichaelSchroeder's post on this feed. He did the same. Thank you for your comment!
Langworth Pike
Very George Harrison-like.
Thank you that made my day! I don't really play slide and challenged myself to go for a George vibe. Appreciate it!
Is this stereo? I mean, if I use a keyboard with stereo FX, does it render ok? Thanks in advance!
Congrats man. Definitely considering that bridge for my GG MJ

I have one with the same exact problem. Looking at the foam in the back, that’s designed to mute the strings, I wonder if it is hampering the springs. That might be the problem…but I’m gonna take it to Sweetwater soon, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll be forced to return it. :(
Let me know how it works out!
What was ya video about. Comparing the gearbox to a peace of crap. About as bad as his playing
Mundo sold me on this amp, got one today, just in black…confirmed everything worked on the unit today and charged it up!Tomorrow, I will dive, more in-depth with the mic and guitar! Cheers mate 🇨🇦 Although….now that I think about it, I do have a question? 1) is the DI post or pre effects? 🇨🇦😋
Congrats! And sorry I don’t know the answer to your question!
How did it go?
Does the ncx3 have a truss rod ? Thanks 😊
Can you adjust reverb mix (wetness)?
Great sound samples. I'd buy this guitar based upon the pickup / mic configuration alone. I wish newer guitar models would offer a rechargeable battery insert for the on-board power supply. Maybe something that could be developed and inserted the same as the battery tray?
Thank you! About the rechargeable battery idea it's possible and a great idea. My problem (which might only be a me thing) is that to my ears real batteries sound better than rechargeable ones. Weird right? I do use rechargeables in the Mystere show for both Yamaha acoustics. I going to try a new type of rechargeable battery that holds it's full charge until it needs to be recharged. Might do a video when I get it. Thanks again.
I am inclined to believe that "Mic" means Mic. and I am not going to buy that there are samples mixed in, 1) because the electronics to trigger and store samples would cost more than putting a small Mic into the closed body, where it would be both isolated and get a very hot signal. 2 ) because the mix on that side is called "Mic"
Thanks for the Video! Im 65 and decided to learn guitar... I was going straight for aa Les Paul Studio not a traditional choice I know. Then I cam across this Yamaha. i like it. To learn and to grow for my personal enjoyment. What do you think.?
Guthrie himself talks about using "nut sauce" as well as the floyd style bridge. I guess there is a reason you still see him use his USA models most of the time. It's definitely just a unique marketing thing, the gotoh 510 has been used for years and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I love Charvel but there's no denying they make some weird choices sometimes, and their quality control needs drastic improvements
Yes I love using Nut Sauce! I use it religiously on every string change on my electrics.
Dude, you didn't give up on it and now you have a way cooler guitar. That guitar looks awesome. Totally worth it imo!!! Also, I agree on the forearm contour without even having played that model, forearm contours should be pretty well comfy. That trem with that color looks better also.
Thank you this made my day! And yes worth it! Used it on two gigs yesterday. Appreciate your comment!
Hi, is this louder than Roland Cube Street EX
Is it good as Boss cube street?
Super awesome demo! Thank you. I just bought a Yamaha NTX5. Do you by chance know if the guitar you demoed has the same electronics as the one I just bought?
Thank you! And yes same electronics but the NTX5 should have a thinner neck with upgraded tone woods. Walnut back and sides, ebony fingerboard and European Sitka spruce top. But double check those stats to make sure I’m right haha?? I’m just going by my memory!
This is weird. I have plenty of guitars that return to perfect pitch with Gotoh's or Gotoh-style trems. Maybe it's the nut?
I have Gotoh in my Suhrs and Strat like greens they are great. Return to zero awesome with abuse. This Charvel didn’t come with a Gotoh but their own bridge-which at least for this one gtr wasn’t not made well. Love the axe and actually found the solution on the Part 3 video.
@@mundojuillerat thanks, I've watched part 3. It's quite a shame that a guitar of this level, at least yours, had this issue. I have cheaper guitars that don't have that problem. My Fender Ultra returns to pitch even after incredible abuse, right out of the box and I didn't need to set it up. After 3 years it remains tune solid. Same for my Ibanez AZ (made in the same factory as this Charvel I believe). Even my Cort has better tuning stability. Just a shame.
wow. 2500 buck signature model, no way worth the money. Definetly low budget guitar with sanme attached to bring the price from around 500 buck into 2500. Pretty dissapointing.
Yep overall the guitar was exceptional with a cheap bridge. Check out the Part 3 video for how I fixed it all. Now I'm very happy with this axe!
excellent demo thank you :) waht track you shred @14:17 ? sounds like django reinhardt :)
