I have the American version of the Charvel Guthrie. It is my favorite guitar. You are right - the neck is the star. I have owned and played nearly every brand. The Charvel just feels comfortable and makes me play faster and smoother with less effort.

Thank you so much for this video. It really uncovered the cons of having the cable output jack built this way. The best position for the cable would be like the Aries 2 from Kiesel. That is at the back in an angle upwards.

Yup thought it was a brilliant idea but field testing showed me it wasn't so good. Thanks for the post!

@@mundojuillerat yeah. On second thought the Ibanez S most likely has the best output jack location. Still trying to found out the most convenient one.

I have one,the neck is lovely to play ,the pick ups are great but I play for fun and I don't use the tremolo much .The only criticism I can make is the fret finishing is quite rough on the edges ,its like a £180 guitar not an £1800 guitar (UK Price)

Charvel (Guthrie Govan) forgot to provide the Tremolo Locking Bridge with set screws to fix the octave..

Hello, i have exactly the same but with enormous tuning issues… the g gets out of tune after each tremolo uses… do you have the same issues ? Did you solve it ?
Thanks a lot and by the way, brilliant playing !

I'm finishing up Part 2 as we speak. It's taking a while since I have about 6 months worth of vid snippets.... But yes major tuning issues and the Charvel whammy bridge is unusable. My tech has done a lot of work on it, and you'll see in part 2 how he's gotten it in tune as long as I don't use the whammy. I'll also show how the knife edges on the bridge against the studs are worn down. And that was just after a week's worth of playing! So it's obviously made of cheap metal. Not only would it go out of tune but it would come back to a place were some strings were sharp and some flat. We ended up switching out the bridge and putting a non locking hardened steel Floyd Rose bridge in. Everything is much better...but still when I use the whammy bar it goes out of tune often. But now when it goes out of tune- it's uniformly out and I'm able to do the "Eddie" trick and it mostly comes back. I even show in the video that after using the bar it's not that bad out of tune, so it's come a long way. Then again it's not consistent and often is out after a dive, or whammy tremolo so professionally I can't rely on it. At this moment I play it nightly I just never touch the bar. Still a work in progress, for a fun and great sounding guitar!

I've had this model for a few months and can share some of my experience:
When I got the guitar the bridge blades had some wear already, so I took advice from a luthier and sharpened the blades as well as very light filing on the pegs to ensure a smooth sharp notch. That combined with some synthetic lubricant on the blades and "nut sauce" lubricant on the nut has greatly improved tuning stability, but I still have to be mindful that if I do an extreme up bend with the whammy bar then it will be sharp by a couple cents.
It seems to me that a stabilizer would eliminate the remaining instability, but it's small enough that I don't care and would rather preserve the feel.
The blades are brass with a thin layer of some other kind of metal that easily wears off, so although this is the old school Floyd Rose design I honestly wish it was made of a stronger metal.
There's also the issue of the nut: Because it's not locking and also needs a low angle for the strings to slide freely, the high E string requires special attention when winding it on the tuning peg. At least on my guitar, the standard locking tuner half-wind approach does not work for the 1st string and instead leads to it easily popping out of the nut while bending or strumming heavily. The fix was to wind it at least 3-4 times making sure it goes downward so as to keep it free to slide in the slot but not so free that it escapes.

Io ho entrambi i modelli; ecco tutto
The neckof the Japanese version is in no way comparable to the American one. You continue to incense this model but it has nothing to do with it; the bridge is different (the lever screws on...) the neck doesn't slide like the American original; the keys are protruding and annoying .... vote 5
I have both models; that's all

Grazie della dritta, stavo pensando di fare l’investimento e comprare questa versione giapponese, vedrò di desistere🤗

Interessante e anche strano, vista la qualità pazzesca degli strumenti MIJ.
