Pathfinder 2e: Building a Character in Foundry VTT

A short video explaining the basics of building a character in the PF2e system on Foundry VTT, using all the built-in tools available. The video was made in a world with no modules, using just the basic functionality. Let me know whether this was helpful and what you would be interested in seeing more of! 00:00 Character Tab 03:20 Equipment Tab 06:12 Proficiencies Tab 07:01 Feats Tab 07:41 Acti...
@2:04 you jump over the part I came here for!
If you click the little gray box with the number on it, you can edit it, and it will automatically pop out empty slots corresponding to the number you put in.
Your videos are excellent. I hope you'll get back to the series. They were very useful in my preparation to get into PF2
Thanks, a lot! all of the guides were more than great. would love too see more.
If you could record something about stealth in combat and exploration, for PC, and Enemies. Seriously you are doing great, short, information packed videos.
Great video, clear and concise and useful and no unnecessary exposition. I'm very new to this. One issue with the AoE template: I noticed that you didn't include the Ratfolk Grenadier in the creatures affected and the player wouldn't know to because it's hidden, so it does not get hit (although it is in the AoE so should). If the GM manually selects the square it is going to give away that there is something there. Is there a way of dealing with this? A macro that automatically selects everything within the template, for example, or some other cunning trick?
Thank you! Glad you're getting value from this video. When you say "If the GM manually selects the square it is going to give away that there is something there", what do you mean? Are you referring to the GM's cursor being visible to the players so if you draw a larger selection box than strictly necessary they might get suspicious? If so, you can disable the visibility of the GM's cursor to players (and even all cursors to everyone) by going to Configure Settings > Open Permission Configuration > Display Mouse Cursor and unticking the relevant boxes. I definitely recommend at least disabling the GM's cursor visibility to players and the GM's drag ruler visibility to players so you can be sneaky without them knowing. Once that's disabled, it shouldn't be possible for the player to tell what tokens are affected as long as you've set the roll mode to "Self Roll" before rolling.
This series is amazing, best behind the scenes tutorials for GMs using Foundry/PF2e that I've seen.
Hope some day you continue this series, cause these are legitimately the best tutorials I've seen about foundry.
thank you!
fantastic tips here - just started GMing in Foundry for PF2e and this was a huge help!
Thank you! Just beginning to delve into PF2e . I am an experienced GM, and play many different rpg’s on foundry, but the little tips for pathfinder are extremely helpful!
Why are there so many downvotes, this shit is good?
I like this short and personable approach!
Very helpful! I'm getting ready to run my first PF2e Foundry game and this video has really given me a leg up. Thanks!
Thanks so much for your excellent video series! I'm taking over GM'ing our family Pathfinder game and we're moving to 100% Foundry for our Jewel of the Indigo Isles campaign. My 13-year-old son and I just finished watching your entire series of videos and we both found them extremely informative. Your no-filler, tutorial-style approach is much appreciated.
Thank you
loot management would be great
Fantastic tips! Thank you!!!
i see that your chocker in the video has an image. Why is there no image in my Foundry data base for no monsters? do i need to install something
That's right, there's a premium module you can purchase that automatically maps beautiful artwork onto every monster from the Bestiaries 1-3, and generates really cool tokens for each of them. I have found it extremely worth the price. This is the link for it: foundryvtt.com/packages/pf2e-tokens-bestiaries If you don't want to buy the pack at the moment, all the artwork is also on 2e.aonprd.com/ for free in the entry for each monster, and you can custom create tokens using those.
@@knucklehead_studios danke
Great video, as always! Please keep it up; you're a godsend.
It's refreshing to find someone doing tutorials that are so in depth. Also, the fact that you are keeping things at a digestible pace, rather than doing the typical breezing over important information or steps. Instead of shooting for the "optimal" length of video based on whatever the current RUclips algorithm-demons dictate for so many other content creators, you take the time needed to cover the relevant information without all the meme-y nonsense. Really, truly a rare thing on this platform and much appreciated.
@@Simyonovich Thank you very much! I hope the forthcoming videos prove as useful!
These videos are awesome! I've been GMing in Foundry for two years and I learned several excellent tips. Thanks for these!
I love this series! I think, loot management would be nice next. But either way - I'll watch what ever you put out.
Excellent video, lots of very good tips.
Thank you so much!
The Stealth for Selected Tokens macro alone is worth the price of admission. Thanks for that!
Keep it up bro, I enjoy your content
Great video! Hope you continue making more. You've already saved me so much time already. The dropdown menus still aren't displaying at least half of the time, though. weird bug
Yes I've noticed that! It seems to be a strange bug with the way I'm recording my screen. I may look into other free recording options if it fixes that. Thanks for pointing it out.
For some reason, anytime you interacted with a dropdown menu inside the character sheet, it wasn't displaying. Other than that weirdness, fantastic video!
Love to see more of these!
so, roll20 is still unmatched with its charactermancer
I can't comment on that unfortunately, as I don't use roll20. I have heard you need to purchase the books on roll20 to have access to the player options contained within, unlike Foundry where all released content is immediately available for free. That's a pretty significant positive in my view.
The big difference is being able to just click "level up" and reading: click on this to roll to see how much hp you get, click from this list your spells, click from this list your subrace, etc. You don't need someone saying to you what to look or choose, you don't need to read any book
Hey, fair enough, if it works for you and you're having fun, great!
Yeah, but I would still prefer that Foundry had it, it's the only part that roll20 has better still... but it's the biggest effort saving tool for the players.
Yup, I totally get that. I hope something like that will come out for the system eventually!
Awesome video, thanks for helping me to be a better foundry player! I was trying myself all the time on my first game...
Five minutes in and I'm convinced, gonna run Pathfinder instead of dnd. I'd guess I wouldn't do that if we were playing without foundry, but it seems like the system makes it really convenient to GM a game (and the video showed that really well)!
The Foundry implementation does indeed make running the system an absolute breeze once you and your players get the hang of it!
Thanks for these vids dude!
Thank you very much for these concise explanation videos. Definitely makes my life easier to introduce my players to Foundry!
This is an excellent video. Thank you for putting this tutorial together.
Wow, youtube's algorithm somehow brought this video to me. Finally some good fucking content.
Super helpful, I recently shifted into pf2e, your videos really help to not lose momentum while actually playing the game! Thx
This was super useful. I bought the Abomination Vault foundry and was immediately lost, surprised there isn't a guide to the system or something in there. I haven't watched your GM guide yet but I'm sure that will be great as well. It might be cool to have some tips or guides for the Abomination Vault foundry module as well!
Ah I would love to help on the AV module side, but I'm actually currently a player in that exact module so I can't be spoiled for it. It's a great suggestion though, for anyone out there who wants to make such a video.
That was super fast! Great video as always! One thing I didn't see here and am unsure if it currently exists: Is there a way to assign XP for defeated enemies via the pf2e Foundry tools? I haven't yet found anything.
I believe there is! There should be a macro called "XP" under the "PF2e Macros" compendium that should do that for you. Full disclosure: I haven't used it myself as I calculate and distribute XP in one go at the end of a session.
Great content, thank you very much!
Your videos are incredibly helpful and your voice very pleasant. This helped me alot.
Quickly turning into my favourite channel for PF2E Foundry VTT
Very helpful. Didn't notice at all that I can add traits at the top.
Your videos are by the best out here for Pathfinder 2e on Foundry... Thank you!
your videos are extremely helpful!
For my foundry game my players character sheet has 2 ancestry feat too choose is this a mistake or should they only have one.
A level 1 character should only have 1 ancestry feat, but you get more as you level up (at level 5 and every four levels after). Hope that helps.
Great video and will be required viewing for my players. Keep up this quality content and your channel will blow up.
awesome videos - please continue with this style. It really helps understand the intricacies of VTT. It's really helpful for beginner's such as me.
I had been wondering how spells and crafting worked in Foundry. Thanks!
This explains so much! Thank you
I need to know how to add the prepared spells and you don't show how to enter the numbers. How do I get them from 0 to something else?
You click on the zero, and enter the number you want.
@@knucklehead_studios Thank you. That is not at all intuitive. Been really struggling with this interface.
This is EXACTLY the kind of Pf2e Foundry tutorial I've needed. Everything else is either not system specific or just focuses on modules. Any plans to do one for additional GM tips and shortcuts?
Yes! I'm working on compiling what features to highlight
