Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Idaho is home to a wider and more diverse range of people (both politically and religiously speaking) than many initially anticipate (and actually for some, they find that they actually don't LIKE that). But it's all relative, right!? And your perspective on that will largely depend on where you're coming from and therefore what you're comparing it to. Even with the more conservative-leaning, Christian sector here in Idaho, many find a MUCH larger array of political opinions than they initially expect (that has certainly been true for us anyhow and the church that we attend). That all said, your concern about whether you'd be welcomed as conservatives but not Trump supporters is valid, and we completely get how important it is to find a place that aligns with your values of kindness, love and inclusivity. And I'd say that (despite some comments you might see on social platforms such as RUclips) most people in Idaho highly prioritize those values. I have no doubt you would find like-minded individuals who respect your stance - and some will share it - and others will not. But I also think that the same could be said for more liberal leaning individuals who don't like what they have seen come out of the white house over the past 4-years, right!? We have family members and friends on BOTH ends of those spectrums who we love and respect. In my honest opinion, our political system (across the board) is broken - so we are praying for a signficant change. Thank you for the comment. I wouldn't completely cross Idaho off your list prior to coming to visit. THAT said, it is a political year, so be prepared for all the jacked up trucks and Trump flags - because there are (and will continue to be) a lot of them.

Thanks for sharing your perspective! You've raised some important points about the challenges Boise and the Treasure Valley are facing. The rapid influx of people and out-of-state investors is definitely putting pressure on our housing market. If homes continue to become less affordable for the average family, the gap between available housing and the needs of the community will (of course) only grow as well, and that is definitely concerning. It's a pivotal time for our valley, and we need our local officials to strike a balance between accommodating growth and maintaining affordability or our region could definitely face some tough challenges ahead.

Poor California! We get calls almost every single day from life-long Californians who sometimes call us up just to vent about the changes they have seen.... it's a mess! 🙁

Rents have gone up pretty significantly over the past 5 years and our base wages are typically definitely not as high as CA’s.

You’re not wrong, here in Idaho our wages do start out lower than most of our bordering states.

When home builders offer incentive programs, it's not the same as directly lowering costs, though it can have a similar effect for *some* buyers (especially those who are relying on financing opposed to paying cash).

The cities mentioned in this video were based on recent data showing where the majority of people who are moving into the state of Idaho are choosing to live. Which, as you noticed, includes several cities near Idaho’s capital & largest city, Boise. I have absolutely nothing against Eastern Idaho - it’s beautiful & packed with hidden gems - but the majority of it is definitely not exactly “booming” (which, if you live in Eastern Idaho and/or know anyone who does, you know that’s how many current residents would prefer to keep it). That all said, I understand your point about there being a “Boise bias” when it comes to Idaho. I grew up in Eastern Oregon and everyone (who didn’t live in the PNW anyhow) always just assumed that since I lived in Oregon I must have lived in/near Portland…. But well, on the flipside of that eastern Oregon is still very much a hidden gem, while Portland is pretty much a disaster at this point… That all said, if you are curious about any eastern Idaho towns or areas, let me know and I’d be happy to feature them in future videos.

@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid much truth to what you say. And yes, eastern Idaho would very much prefer to keep the Jimmy Kimmel’s out. (Which we failed at) And admittedly this data is a year old, but at that time Idaho falls on a percentage basis was the fastest growing city, still the most affordable housing when compared to median income, and had the fastest growing job growth. And those who speak with our legislators commonly hear, they tax us in East Idaho so they can build another road in Meridian.

We know several people who love living in Idaho Falls (and/or grew up there). It’s a charming spot for sure. Curious what job industries & opportunities are the strongest there? I have heard that it has received praise for its job market & strong wages but I’m clueless as to what the main employment options are there? And then I completely understand the frustration about being taxed there for projects that are happening here in the Boise metro area. It definitely reminds me of how most eastern Oregon residents feel about paying for projects happening all over Portland and Salem! Tough one for sure!

@@Livinginboiseidaho-candid job growth here is very diverse. Tourism is always hot with Yellowstone being close. The Idaho National lab continues to offer more positions. Health care is strong, construction is strong. I work with small business owners and there are many who contract with employers across the country, especially California, and live here. Professional and financial services have been among the strongest growers. Idaho falls often gets lumped in with Pocatello when one hears of eastern Idaho. They are very different communities, different economies.

Thank you for watching and great questions! In regard public transit projects - you're absolutely correct that Boise isn’t particularly known for its public transit. There is (thankfully) ongoing discussion on how to improve our transportation options - that said (unfortunately) nothing major is currently being worked on. There has been (for several years now) quite a bit of talk about adding a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system right on State Street (which is one of Boise's busiest corridors). And there's also been talk about adding in express bus services and/or a potential light rail connection... but (as far as I know anyhow) all of those are still very much still in the conceptual stages. And then there's also been discussion about expanding bus routes, including better access to the Boise Airport. Currently our main public transportation option is Valley Regional Transit, here is their website (and all of the routes that they cover): www.valleyregionaltransit.org/routes/ Typically you *can* get to most places within Boise and Meridian using the bus, but due to how few routes they have, it's almost always going to (as of right now anyhow) take more time than would be preferable. And then in regard to Avimor being annexed into Eagle: Great question! Avimor residents were excited to be accepted into Eagle primarily due to its local government, sense of community and improved school ratings. The government and city planning that Eagle offers are two perks that many Avimor residents have shared with us. Hope this helps! Let me know if there’s anything else you’re curious about.

Humidity really makes a world of difference!! We actually JUST got off the phone with a great couple considering moving here from Hawaii and they’re having a hard time wrapping their heads around the concept of “dry heat”! Completely different, right?
