    Thank you so much. I'm using 3x27" flat and setting up the fov this way transformed my rig and finally I have a feel like I'm in the car. I am now trying to adjust monitors height to have side monitors perfectly lined up. I saw that If I'm using 0 horizon side monitors looks like angled down. Best feel is around -4% but looks like my seat has to go down to match up. I would like to join your private reddit because I am very interested in this topic together with pedals, wheel and seat adjustments.

    Hey Sense of Speed, thanks so much for this. Quick question on your opinion. I have 1 57” G9 Ultra Wide, and 2 G8 32” side screens. SO equivalent of 15360x2160. Curious how you think that would impact the sweet spot for the angle for best FOV. I am not hugely concerned with bezel free as the 57” has such a wide FOV that the bezels really are less impactful to the view. Any thoughts would be appreciated, and if there is a correct measurement for Bezel free, thats a plus! Thanks for the great content !

    Thanks for this video my friend! Currently im running triple 32 inch monitors with a 1000R curve on a SimLabs monitor stand. Currently at 725mm distance. Thanks to this video, i'm going to convert this monitor stand. I'm going to change the legs on the stand and change them out for legs with a motor, so i can change the monitor height on the go. I need this, because my rig is on wheels. I want to be able to move my rig around for cleaning and for changing stuff like pedals (angle) etc. If i want to get my monitors as close to the base as possible, I need the ability to change the height of them easily. So i came up with a solution for this. If this works out I think I might make a video about it so people can benefit from this. Also ordered a Simucube extension (from simracingbay if someone wonders) in the process to complement it all. Oh BTW I also noticed the debounce time on the shifters on 0ms is not working out for me. I changed it to 1ms and then it was fine. The problem I had was that if I wanted to shift up it sometimes causes the shifter to go to N or whatever the game thinks, and rev the shit out of the engine and it did not change gears. So i changed it to 1ms and then: No miss shifts. Hope this helps.

    Hey m8 , great vid. Ive watched a few times now and are about to go down this path. One thing i have noticed and would like some clarification on is you have your monitors set at a single screen resolution in the iracing ui ,is this due to you treating the whole setup as a single screen? Cheers from Oz

    • @sense-of-speed

      @Oldboyracing We use the triple curved option, not the single curved option, however. The triple curved otion scales the image similar to the single curved option, allowing increased fov.

    I just read that the laser point settings do nothing except on tech tracks, and don't affect force feedback. Same on the shifter delay. The initial shift is immediate but it doesn't allow for another accidental shift in that allotted time. Where did you get the information on the laser scan settings from. There's so much conflicting info out there.

I am going to move monitors 4 or 5 inches closer to the DD base/wheel so say 23 1/2 inches to 24 inches away from the center monitors. What should my angle be for side monitors. 32" screen 0.16mm bezel monitors Asus VG32VQ1B. HELP

    • @sense-of-speed
      @sense-of-speed 13 дней назад

      Ideal eye distance based on our vision and minimum natural depth perception is 630 to 650 mm. Personally, I like 635 or 25 inches. At that eye distance, 65 degrees at the monitor arm like mine works very well. Especially in Iracing.

    • @mrj3217
      @mrj3217 11 дней назад

      @sense-of-speed I have my triple monitors integrated into the rig all as one so at the moment I am at 55° and it kinda hard to go much further angle wise. I have a Trak Racer T80 w/ integrated monitor, 32" 1500 curved monitors and I sit exactly at 25" away from center monitor, I am vertically sitting right in the middle of the monitors and that is perfect. My biggest quest is do I measure the angles off the actual connecting monitor arms? Inside triple monitor arms or the back side of the rig? Both should give the same result I assume. Or do I basicly angle the monitors that 60° or what ever the mathematically correct number is? I know this is a lot but ATM it dosen't feel correct especially the right monitor. I find myself driving off my Center monitor in my left peripheral naturally but I have to break focus to notice the right monitor. I have scrapped more walls with the Triples than I have prior with just a single monitor.

    • @mrj3217
      @mrj3217 11 дней назад

      @@sense-of-speedinitially when I upgraded to 3 32" triples I made sure all 3 monitors were exactly 25" away from my eyes. So basicly at the center of all 3 monitors they were positioned exactly 25" from my eyes. That felt too flat and wide. I just never considered the reason behind the correct math and a legit FOV. I love your channel and it's very helpful for tech illiterate noon sim racers.

    Does this video targets towards users using triple monitor setups only? I have no simrig because of lacking space at home. I also have only one monitor 32" curved. When I prep myself for playing iRacing, I pull the monitor as close to my front as I can and put my wheel in front of it. Behind i´m sitting in a comfortable chair and my eye distance is about what you have shown here in the video, well mostly and it may differ of course. I run a FOV of 55° and adjust the cockpit of each car using the ingame camera settings X-0.250 to comensate a little. If I would run 45° I would only see barely nothing of the cockpit dashes anymore. I really enjoyed watching your video. Greate voice and also some cool humour in it. I didn´t even know that you can still adjust things in the render.ini file. Thanks for that :)

Much higher fov and really like the wrap around affect of designating them as curved. Thank you! As I have an AMD CPU and GPU I can't enable the Reflex feature or SMP/MVP. My system isn't bleeding edge but seems to be managing ok (although the new Spa render is challenging it). Also love your blacks. What's your secret? In iracing mine are mostly dark greys. For most it is a good improvement, but LMP3 and MX5 seem off, MX5 rear view mirror is HUGE to the point where it seems ridiculous and LMP3 seems to have a steering wheel that is 1.5 times the size of what it should be😅 dont know if i did something wrong, but all the other things seem rather normal.

    Thank you so much for this video! I knew the angle would be too tight but all I had at the time was the template in the bezel free kit and eyeballing it. After spending quite some time lining up my monitors and found the angle too tight, I was too lazy and excited to get on the sim and never fixed it for quite some time. Your video explains it perfectly and now that I'm doing "renovations" on my rig, I got it just right much faster and the angle is perfect! If people watching have a 3D printer, I recommend printing an angle finder. It works great for this video and also works for other things you might need it for. Its also nice to see the angle I had and doing fine tunning adjustments is much easier knowing I have to move + or - a degree.

  • @tigerfan525
    @tigerfan525 23 дня назад

    As long as the video is, it doesn't explain the most important changes in any way. You keep referring to the near plane distance and talk about setting a baseline of 30 and playing around with it but never talk about how a value of 30 (3 meters) correlates to the screen size/radius and overall FoV. Also, you say we should change the size/radius to have 12 in front with no explanation of what that accomplishes!? That makes no sense on its own. It's not a multiplier being applied evenly to each value and doesn't seem to have any relationship to the near plane adjustment. I'm not saying these changes don't "work" or that they aren't worth trying, but I do expect a 45 min video to give more than a "trust me bro" explanation of what works and why. I'll keep an eye out for the next video, which I hope goes into actual detail of how these changes work and how they address the issues described here.

    • @Romad_20
      @Romad_20 17 дней назад

      The 12 in front of the numbers messed up my center screen. No idea what that was supposed to accomplish. At first I was very excited about this video and the laser scan info may have been useful, but after watching this a few times while trying to set up my new triples (55''s!), I grew more and more frustrated with the "extra" information included and how long it was taking to get to a point. All that, and in the end the 12 at the beginning of the numbers did nothing but screw things up and my FOV is basically the same as if I were to have clicked the FOV setting in the black box to correspond to my viewing distance to begin with. Video was well done, though. Edit: After reading through the comments here, it seems like you should use curved even if you have flat monitors per SOS. I'll try that and see if it actually works for me. That needs to be more clear in the video. 2nd Edit: Ended up just going back and doing the traditional FOV calculations. This method did not feel right for me. Maybe it's because I'm using really large monitors?

      Thank you. Possibly but it would be specific to the SImlab Vario mounts. I won't mount triples without them.

    This video is very well done. Things are explained in a way that they can be understood. I know how my weekend is going now.

    All I can say is one really big "thank you" from the bottom of my heart. After 4 years in iRacing I was close to quitting because ( although I am fast and I have good win ratio ) I never felt "in the car" no matter what I changed regarding FOV & camera. I never felt kerbs are where my brain were expecting them to be. Because of this, I had many months of breaks from driving. All I wanted is to seat into my rig and enjoy, but I couldn't. Then I came across your video and after few days of adjustments I was blown away. I'm kissing the kerbs, sliding around them, I'm able to carry exact amount of speed through the corners. I, finally , driving my cars , not opposite ! I'm so sure in what I'm doing that I can look around the track while driving to see so many details I never saw before. I'm achieving my best lap times in more than 15 °C more than before without extra effort. Thank you, man and all the best !

      You're very welcome, Norman. Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad I can get you more in the car!
