Congratulations on your new bike. Really sorry about the mechanical and dealer issues. I love my Harley, and never had an issue. Lots of after market for Sportsters, a little windshield and maybe bags and you'll have a miniature bagger. Highway is where you may want a bigger bike, but those guys were jerks for trying to upsell you. For around town and for country roads, the Sportster is great. For highway - what's the hurry? You may have to stick down to around 70 or so due to vibration - but how fast do you want to go on a bike? I too like the look and sound of the Sportster.

Sport bike guys vs Harley guys is always a funny topic. It’s the extremes that paint the picture it seems but in reality we mostly just want to ride and enjoy motorcycles, at least the I do. I think yammie boob has a point about the measurable things in a way, mainly bang for buck factor but you’re right in saying he’s closed minded about it. Ride whatever you like, I think all bikes are cool and have their place, at least to someone.

Lol, happens to everyone at least once! My friend bought a new Harley and on the way home she did the same thing. All of the sudden she pulled over and said her bike shut off. I laughed and said check your kill switch... Haha! I know she was thinking, "I just spent a lot of money and my bike died!"

I have the 6" red Klock Werks and getting a bunch of wind bluffing from the side and top of my helmet. I am 5'6" with a Saddleman Tuck and Roll seat. I ordered the Clearview Med. Whiskey Smoke. I am going to do a comparison between the two. With the Klock Werks I ended up fabricating a think piece of sheet metal to extend the side of the windshield and that helped a bit. I believe the extension on the Clearview will be better than the Knlock Werks. I really like the red Klock Werks screen better than a regular dark on.

I use mine dj action with dj microphone no wires needed.

Just need a set of Motion Footpegs for that beast. Awesome build.

They tried to upsale me too. I’m like, they won’t even make these anymore. It’s a collector’s item at this point lol. I love my 883 as a new rider. I’ll probably end up buying a diff bike but will keep the 883 forever.

The complaints you have are solved with a touring bike. Why would they put all of the touring features on a sport tour? I think you'd be happier on a street or road glide.

The salesman wasn't trying to save you from anything. He was pressuring you to buy a more expensive bike you knew (wisely) you weren't ready for. Why? Because Harley sales people don't give a shit about anything but money.

Get a dyno tune done on it, that'll help alot with the heat. No doubt in the 4 months since the video came out, someone's told you this. I'll go on anyway. They come tuned lean to meet each guidelines. This makes them run hotter and not as powerful. With a tune you'll get more fuel added. It'll run cooler, and you'll love the performance. I like listening to you talk (not creepy lol) while your ride. Good points about Harley and YammieNoob only cares about $$$$$ - he’ll say anything for views. I’ve been riding as long as it’s over 35 Degrees - prefer over 45 if possible though 🥶🥶🥶

Under Armour pants is OK but it’s not windproof. Try using insulated Motorcycle over pants that’s what I use because I don’t have heat gear either. ✌🏾

Can't imagine riding here in NH. Where I am, it is ice and snow and where the pavement is not icy, it is covered in sand/salt. Better for me to just dream of sunny days and work on the bike in the garage. Not practical in my area to ride in the winter.

I am 5"6' and have a small 28" inseam. I found the foot pegs far to high even with short legs. Admittedly the bike i currently have ( xl 1200) has forward controls, so maybe thats why the flxrst pegs felt to high. I would prefer the gauge the same as the fxlrS instead of the bits of plastic.

nice seat, can I ask what is the part number for the passenger back rest? It it a Harley brand back rest? and the back rest plug and play, no adjustments on the mounting points on the back fender?

Could you start out on a low rider? I’m a pretty careful guy. Looking to put put around with my wife on the back, nothing crazy.

It's all about making money for the company. They now what their doing, so this way they can squeeze more money out of you.

Just give u heads up grips does a lot with vibration since ur grips only has small area of rubber thats y ur feeling it. I recommend going to the vans rubber grips they help take out a lot vibration.

Great ride up. First time? You covered a lot. I am looking at getting this bike. I have had many bikes over the decades and i particulary like the m8 engine. The engine is very quiet with little vavle train noise. Only one cam, so less moving parts. Of course, pipes may make noise. The Milwaukee engine has been out for about 7 yrs. So issues like oil pump etc have been fixed. Haha.. yeah. I would feel a bit odd doing the video out in public also. Although, as you say, lots of people are used to seeing those things

Trade in values indicate that the Iron 883’s are very popular. Their differences are within 400 bucks compared to the similar Iron 1200. Never had the Iron 883, but I have had four blond engined bikes. I liked them all.

Get a different bike if you complain too much

Bought a 2023 Road King Special. Wanted to get stuff done, at Harley, but way too much money. I did the following: USB charger for GPS/Phone on handlebars, LED Lights (turn signals/brakes), changed out bag reflectors to LED lights, added Bag lights, Added bag guards, Added cobra neighbor hater slipons, installed hardware and added passenger floorboards, sissy bar, and luggage rack, added highway pegs, and added heel shifter setup. Spent about $1000 total (Harley wanted $1500 for passenger boards/sissybar, and rack by itself).

When I first saw it, I thought the ST was the bike for me. But when I realized it didn't come with passenger seat and pegs and had NO gauges, just a tiny didital readout which I assume cannot be read in the sun, that was a solid no-go for me. Ended up with a Heritage, which is a far better bike for about the same money. Still can't read the digital readouts, but at least the speedo is a real gauge.

Bung king risers. 6 1/2" rise, 2" pullback. Fits easily with stock wires, brake lines, and clutch cable. Solid steel, less than $200. It's a 1 piece design and I used a grinder to cut a small slot underneeth to slip the wires in the channel where they go. You cant see it at all. No taking the fairing apart. No taking the tank off to rerun the wires. Very easy install. You will need a different top clamp from HD. It holds the stock display. Its about $40. Also easy to put on. Also, skip the 10" HD windshield, its barely any different than stock. The Klock Werks xtra large (12") is perfect.

You made a wise choice. My wife took the Harley course, bought the 883. Rode it for a year, then bought a Heritage. She was very happy she spent her year on the Iron before she moved on.

It's not perfect but no bike will be. THE BIGGEST TAKE AWAY is the non-existent gauges. Whatever you want to call, what HD put in place of dial gauges is a JOKE!

I started on the iron 883 as well. Traded in for my 21 FXLRS which I still have. While I wish I could have kept the iron too, I have zero regrets trading it for the LRS. It's ten times the bike for twice the money. The ST version wasn't out yet when I got my bike so I had to make a ton of mods almost immediately. Road warrior fairing, 2 up seat and a sissy bar were first. Soft bags from viking, biltwell risers, cobra slip ons. Man, I have spent a ton on this bike! I do wish I had the 117, though. I love the old school gauges on the tank on my bike however. It's a look you can't get without it.

5:06 Nooooooooooo!!! Worst advise 😅 This is what good advice looks like, if you’re set on a Low Rider S or Dyna model, buy used! Buy something with clean title. If you decide it’s too big, too heavy, too much power then sell it! It holds its value very well. If you decide you like it and want a bigger, newer or fast bike, sell it. Iron 883-1200 have one of the worst resell value. Most Harley’s lose 20% of their value while the iron loses 35%. Only value an iron has is a trade in but that’s it.

It's no longer HD (Harley Davidson) it's M-HD (Multi-Hundred Dollars). Its just another nail they put in their coffin. 'They' need to keep those CEO's well feed even if it means killing the 'Goose That Is Laying The Golden Eggs'. That LCD screen needs to go M-HD! Go back to convential guages. Cobras do sound alot better! Psssst.......EPA is about to taken down to not being "The Bully On The Block"............FINALLY!
