Something else I find amazing is that it's really hard to see at any one time who has the upper hand - sometimes you think that one team has definitely got it, and then the balance of power appears to change again. I feel like on a lot newer strategy games, once one side has got an obvious upper hand, it just steamrollers to an inevitable conclusion. But these matches keep you guessing. It's surprising just how good it is to watch all these years later! And the different tactics etc. Only thing I'm a bit sad about is how to play optimally you have to pick Orc :(

Nice one, bro, I always liked humans more because of the extra range of archers and cleric's healing 😁 This game is an absolute gem, one my first games that I played, even though back then I didn't know how to play nor any English whatsoever

This is theory good I would however switch D. Calvary with Cav. Archers. Cav. Archers may not seam to weak att first but they are way weaker then normal archers making them a bad alternativ and D. Calvary is the ultimate healer it can heal anytime as long as they don't stand still in combat and they eran their own SP and more just wish they were stronger. Another thing is Wyvern, they are way better then storm riders for some reason and always win vs them.

Think you made the right call picking an early patch, not sure if this is possible on 2.22 or 1.9 on hard, 1 tip, I noticed your heroes are quite low level on the final mission. if u kill the balrog with level 1 gandalf, he is level 5 on the next mission. meaning you can get a lot more levels for your heoroes in the first mission instead of letting gandalf get the xp, im at helms deep on my current playthrough and my gandalf is level 9, and because he didn't pick up the xp boosts in moria it gave room for the other heroes to extra xp too. The balrog fight as a level 1 gandalf is a big tip tho, assuming it works in the earlier patches, I did it just yesterday on patch 2.22 though, and it worked a charm although it took a long time for level 1 gandalf to kill the balrog. Haven't played the old patches in a long time though, can't guarantee it would work on them.

Oh boy love me some KUF 'competitive' content. This game's a masterpiece, in 20 years I have yet to witness a game that comes close to the hybrid that KUF is.

I have done a no death run using the humans many times and like you, I don't bother with summons. It's just so satisfying to see the casualty counter stay at zero at the end of each mission. However, I have to give you a *MAJOR* tip of the hat for performing this challenge using the orcs. I honestly didn't think it would be possible. You would need a city of farms just to feed all the wounded...

There is this item that gaves extra 20 mana when the unit dies (you picked it up at 21:12). It makes recycling a basal golem give you back 40 mana, exactly what it costs to build them. This really helps to defend the base in this mission as you can "heal" all your golem for free that way.

Just stumbled upon your channel through the deathless videos, probably recommended to me because I watched the Giant grant videos before. Really cool to see some love for WC1 and WC2!

I don't really get your hate towards priests. I like them. But I wouldn't build more than 1 or 2 of them. I use them as healer only. I think the heal from the paladin is just too expensive.

I didn't know Captain was such a high rank in the navy. I love hearing about the military ranks in the North America region. After little bit of studying, it seems like Captain in the navy is the same as Colonel in the army, so 1 rank below a Brigadier-General, which in the navy seems to be equivalent to Commodore. And after Commodore comes Rear-Admiral. I've talked with a Brigadier-General once, he was a cool dude, and I was awkward as hell lol.

And now we know why the orcs won the first war, they spammed catapults. The humans never stood a chance X.X I can't imagine how painful this was to actually play. I admire your dedication and resolve to see these challenges through to the end. And I admire the entertaining streams and videos you make in the process! Keep up the great work mate.

I find the concept of coop strategy games fascinating. Especially for a game that is so close to my heart. Even though I wish this was also made for pre-Activizzard Warcraft 3 (before Refunded and before the patches that came before Refunded which caused memory leaks and such). That one is a base for my Warcraft Trilogy: The Ultimate Edition. :P

1:16:20 actually the mongols did that sometimes apprantly. Ironically i remember Uther on hard difficulty was also hard to kill. The amount of ghouls he slaughtered tilted me. I have a few (good) memories about Warhammer Online. It had cool classes. And things like the open events that sometimes occured and you could just jump right in with someone else. But also the genereal war thingy to whoever sides was "winning" that there were boni (i think it was like that). Plus minus some mini things like a quest where you have to shoot down Harpyies with the elf ballista (WoW adapted stuff from it later) Apparantly in later stages it had somewhat bad balancing and that the "faction wars" got to one-sided on certain servers. A third faction was missing to balance it out. It also had some development / money issues iirc between Mythic and EA. In the end i think Mythic was strapped down and split up. What remains with me to this day the Warhammer Online trailers were freaking amazing D: Edit: I looked it up just seach on youtube "Death of a Game Warhammer Online". Gad dammit EA <.< On Piranha Bytes: The people that basically made Gothic weren´t there anymore. Also there boss Björn Pankratz sucked literally ass. And instead on improving from one game on the other they always restarted at zero. Elex 1 was fine but damn Elex 2 is such an embarrassment and warcrime in terms of bad. Even without Embracer fukin everything up they should / would have been shutdowned. One tipp: You should use meatwagons to shoot priests and sorceresses. Siege damage shreds their unarmored type hard.

Nice work! Fighting the warcraft 1 controls looks so painful! I wonder what caused the enemy to stockpile so many catapults. Is that something that's happened other times you've played this level, or does the enemy usually attack with them?
