    You guys somehow have recipes for catfish? That's certainly not a delicacy here in Australia and people would puke at the thought lol fkn girls 🤣 So much respect to the Americans for discovering a way to make catfish taste great 👍 respect

      @HeeyManFishing 4 дня назад

  • @jameshatton4211
    @jameshatton4211 4 дня назад

    As an Aussie guy I'm starting to really really appreciate the American man's love for fresh water fishing! Every Australian guy I know hardly ever fishes fresh water.. It's always ocean and salt water fish because they don't understand the fishes diet and how catch the fish and prepare the fish? The reason I know this is that they always complain that the fish tastes muddy lol Then I know that an idiot once fished freshwater like he does salt water and hates the taste....... More fish for me I suppose? 😁 One thing I have noticed though is that America has a lot more seasonal or migratory fish species compared to Australia because we don't get melt waters replenishing the system and most water collection is overland flow from more continuous rainfall? So we have fish species that like to live in more still waters or muddy murky waters contaminated with Overland flows usually rich in organic matter also? So in the smaller waterbodies that have steady flow in and out, if you have a decent lure or you're smart enough to catch some insects such as grass hoppers on your walk in you will be guaranteed to catch the same damn hungry fish over and over again; so the idea is to use a rope tied to the bank and stick tied to end of the rope and have it close to the exit spill way or outflow, then you put the stick and rope through the gill to keep the fish "tethered" but still alive and with the constant water flowing past the gills the fish is quite happy to swim tethered. You can simply keep adding fish onto the end of the tether 😉 Then the idea is to fish until you are done or happy with the some of the catch, then you selectively pick say 3 of the best of largest of the catch and release the rest to respect and replenish the natural stocks of fish. We have plentiful yellow bass similar to America and you guys love catching them and eating them 👍 Hardly anyone here in Australia torches them? I get the feeling that you would be the type of fella that might like the following short story? I once went out hunting with my dad and we were situated along this river that was known for good fishing including yellow bass and Murray Cod. Everyone always wants to catch a Cod, right? Well we also have a lot of carp too and they are a pest. So naturally all the guys are catching bass and mostly carp. Dad and I went exploring for miles up the river banks until we came upon a huge big tree draped out over the river full of cockatoos nesting and below this tree the water was alive and teaming with action almost looking like some kind of monster lurking beneath? Dad says to me "ok we are going back to the car to get my beach fishing steel trace and we are gonna catch ourselves a cod but don't tell any of them how we did it ok?" Sure enough we prepared ourselves and dad climbed a tree to grab a baby bird from the nest and he got bitten to sh!t getting it out and then I realised what he was doing? And he goes "you're not going to like this so you might want to close your eyes?" Dad said "we will say a prayer for this one for getting our dinner tonight because f*ck carp Amen" 😂 Not even kidding we had a huge Cod in less than 5 seconds but do you think we could get the thing in? No way it was stronger than both of us combined! Dad hitched around a tree and made me go back to get a star picket to migrate our catch up the river enough away from where we caught it so his mates didn't find out when we walked back to tell them that we needed help to bring in a giant cod. All I can remember is the shocked look on their faces because the biggest cod anyone had caught on a line was usually smaller than yellow bass anyway and meant they were illegal to eat. Took all of them over an hour to land on the bank and our secret was maintained 😎

    • @HeeyManFishing
      @HeeyManFishing 4 дня назад

      Great story your dad was being respectful for taking the life of the bird and catching a cod. Very interesting.

    I've fished about all of the fishable water in Cherokee. I don't usually use a float in deep holes. I use a split shot and a hook similar to what you used. I also use nightcrawlers or other jumbo size worms. Or, we might drive down below Bryson City and buy minnows. It's not easy toting a minnow bucket around but most the deeper holes are fairly easy to get to. I use the same rig as for worm fishing. I cast across or upstream and keep the line tight while the bait lightly bounces across on or near the bottom.

    • @HeeyManFishing
      @HeeyManFishing Месяц назад

      Minnows sounds interesting. Have yet to use them. Do u get more hits on Minnows verse worms?

    • @dvrmte
      @dvrmte Месяц назад

      @@HeeyManFishing If the fish are biting good there's not much difference. If I have worms and minnows, I'll fish a hole first with worms and then switch to minnows when the bite slows down. You'll generally catch larger trout on minnows. I dropped my son off at one big hole and drove down to another good hole a few hours before dark. He had the minnow bucket and I had worms. We both limited out but he had three big ones 16-21 inches. The biggest was a brown trout. They seem to hit better just before dark in my experience.
